New, improved, weather report for the day

You guys got it good too... (No wonder the Gulf Coast is good for tanning, if this is what people want, anyway; all the stuff about skin cancer aside.)

Yeah too bad I just burn and peel though *sigh*, so lotssss of SPF 50 between May and Sept. for my family. But carrying a bottle of sun screen for those months is just a SMALL price to pay for the nice heat instead of those crazy winters :p!
@forgiven :

Yes, you guys down South have got a lot going for you! Up here the summer is hot and short, maybe 4 months at the most. The rest of the year can be a long, extended winter....

And what would folk do without their lotion, eh? Almost like coffee, part of some ppl's staple diet...! (You do have to keep an eye on the effect of the sun on your skin ink, because of fading, but it ought not to be too big a deal.) I guess the various Lotion Corporations Inc. have gotten most of their stockholders living on or near the Gulf Coast, Florida, and Cali....

Yes, you're right about crazy winters; and you know, Upstate NY, to the south of us, sometimes has even more snow than we do: the Lake effect, and so forth. Buffalo has got the effects of both Lakes Erie and Ontario.

Blessings.

Yes my husband often jokes that we should buy stock into the sun screen business b/c we are making them rich. My general policy is having a bottle in my car, his truck, my purse, bottles setting on front and back porch and whenever the kids go over to some one else's house to play a bottle of sunscreen goes as well! The kids both already had burns this year in April b/c I was not diligent enough. Both children burn easier than I do and get very sick when they burn. But as long as I am diligent with the lotion we all do well in the heat :).

And I can honestly say that I do not miss those winters. On occasion though I will miss that first snow, that first BIG snow that covers so much and seeing it before the shovels and plows come out is quite beautiful! It shows how beautifully God can paint, well in my eyes anyway. But I much prefer being able to enjoy his work of art while not shivering :)! So I will stick with watching him paint the sky pink and purple on a Spring day, it is just as pretty and just as glorious of him, I can simply appreciate the beauty a little better when I am warm.

I know what you mean; the novelty of piles of snow can wear off after a while, especially when up here it can last for months on end...

Blessings.

Heard that Brazil can be really a nice place to visit. Place wise and weather wise as well!

JPPT1974:

Oh it can be, yes. Combine the semi-tropical sea at Key West, with Hawaiian-style coastline and a New Orleans atmosphere, and you have Rio.

Blessings.

Yea, Overcast is the norm, Although lately we've actually been getting some great sunny weather but it seems as though that's leaving ;)

England: Grey, Windy and Uh, grey

You could have actually given us all that information just by saying one word: "England". :lol

:)

Claudya: It's the influence of the Gulf Stream, the fact that England has such a temparate climate. Whereas you guys in Germany and we here in North America have Continental-type climates.

We do actually get gulf stream influence here, too, especially the northern parts of Germany. I may actually live further north than you, but thanks to the gulf stream we have a much warmer climate than Canada.
The gulf stream may give England some milder climate, but the amount of rain they receive is also due to the Atlantic Ocean being west of them, and that's where the European weather comes from. Ireland is getting it even harder. Warmer air (heated up by the gulf stream) can carry more humidity, and thus more precipitation.

Edit: so we know it's not England's fault they get so much rain ;) , but it's always nice to make fun of it (because noone's feelings would be hurt by making fun about the weather)

Well, maybe for climate reasons, the former DDR could have joined the Atlantic Alliance, if Herr Honecker had wanted to, after all... :)
