Doesn't click. I'm still looking for an answer that makes sense.
It's a tough one to understand if grace is the point where thinking
stops, as under grace it obviously cannot happen.

And what about the unprofitable servant?
And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness:
there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Ok, so he was not profitable. But wasn't he still under grace?
At least in the broad understanding where grace is so all inclusive
that you do not actually need to live a holy life?

Grace is the power to lead a Holy life.

Rom 6:14
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
NKJV

Grace, Mercy, and Peace,
Asaph

(I think this is Matt. 26:14-30 you are refering to?)

This servant had never understood grace and so never yet came under it.

We see in verse 24-25 that he is so afraid and distrustful of his master that he describes him even to his face as a hard task-master, a cheat, a fearsome man.
That is totally innacurate, yet this is how some see God and therefore refuse to come to Him.

Sadly, many Christians also see God this way for some considerable time after being saved, before finally receiving the revelation of His awesome love and grace, and at last following Him with great joy and thankfulness, right into the garden of His delight, strolling hand in hand through the tulips...

Once saved always saved, because we cannot, cannot, cannot undo such phenomenal and utter power of the Blood!

God bless, love Sue

Oh, and a simple word of warning to those who believe in OSAS.

Make extra sure that your faith isn't in a doctrine, but only in Christ.

There was a time when I believed OSAS and was living depraved in many ways, but now because of the grace of God I have been able to overcome many things and am growing closer to the Lord.

It is funny. When I was OSAS, I was never secure in my relationship, but now that I reject OSAS, I have full assurance. :)

A simple warning to those who do not believe that their salvation is settled.

Make absolutely sure that you have not put your faith in your own ability to save yourself.

Ah ok, we found the dead end: Grace doctrines that justify
failure to either receive God's promises OR obey God's commands.

That's a really subtle deception, nearly invisible, but deadly.

If Grace is deadly it is deadly to the self-righteous carnal Christian.

I certainly see nothing wrong with that. :-D

Fair enough. :)

The ballance is:

You can't save yourself
You can't put your faith in doctrine.

We are both in full agreement I am sure.

On that, you would be wonderfully correct. We have found a meeting place. Sometimes I think folks just don't realize how important that is. if we start from where we agree perhaps we both will be edified. :-)

Agreed. :) I heard a quote and will try to start a thread about it in the General Talk. It really spoke to me.

First rule, God is cool. OK, I may date myself, but God is the same Yesterday, Today and Forever.

Everything He has done has been to include. That's His nature.

Christ is always a good starting place for fellowship among believers.

Beats knowledge any day.

In love,

Are you saying you don't have to repent any more? Are you perfect everyday? The Bible tells us to continue to work out our salvation. We are supposed to be diligently following Him until the end. Aren't you overlooking responsibility? Are you accepting Him as Lord too?. Why did Jesus gave us so much work to do? Why does Jesus say "if you love me keep my commandments"?

I am asking a lot of questions. I hope you answer them.

Geez. Who saved you? You or Him?

Be very careful who you give the Glory to, because this is gonna get very ugly if you are wrong.

I'll not stand by and see sinful humans trying to get the glory. Do you understand?

Where did you get that idea? I never mentioned anything about me. I am only talking about His work for us. He is the one who is giving us work. Why are you changing the subject? Why don't you answer my simple questions? He saved me. That's why I pay attention to everything that He tells us to do. I give Him respect and honor to listen to everything He has to say to me.

Yeah, that was pretty much my point.

Excuse me? what is your point? Just because I mention about the responsibilities Jesus is giving us to do, I am glorifiying myself?[/quote:d2ba7]

Well yeah! Duh.

I believe the correct answer is "Continually Saved".....

As written in Rev, it is possible to have your name removed from the "Book of Life"...

Rev 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

This indicates that your name may be in the book and if you backslide, you may be in danger of having it blotted out.

again...it appears to be a possibility in this verse...

Rev 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and [from] the things which are written in this book.

among others...."The Book of Life" is a Jewish concept along with the "The Book of the Wicked" and the "Book of the Inbetween".

Continually saved is the only option.....

Here is an example that always saved doesn't work.....

If I accept Christ at 13 years old (and truly mean it), and commit unrepentant murder and am executed, I'm not saved.....period.

another,

If I accept Christ (truly) at 10 and at 25 I vocally claim to reject Christ, I'm not saved....period.

However,

If I accept Christ at 13 and commit a murder for which I am repentant, then I a saved....again......Once saved, Continually saved, repentance required....

This is modeled after the Jewish High Holy Days....between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, when the Books are opened and men are Judged.
