You really see the spanish style with those.it didn't have ac then.

Without AC, those awnings really did help to ward off the sunshine during certain hours of the day.

Several homes I bought over the years had awnings. I replaced the fabric with new, more durable fabric to have that clean, crisp appearance. Even with adding AC to the houses, the awnings added that extra touch.

Awnings used to be very common throughout the Midwest. Nowadays, it's not all that common to see awnings on homes. Same is true about functional shutters. It's more common to see the fake, screw-on shutters, and very rare to see actual shutters that are used to protect windows/ close up a home.

Hurricane shutters are rather necessary in your area, my friend, but not in my area. Shutters of that style help when a tornado is in the area, but won't do anything to protect if a tornado lands on the house.

The thick shutters were an aspect of what I loved about Scotland. The 'cottage' I wanted to buy had them on all the windows in the older sections; gorgeous, they were!

Sad to hear Mr Chestnutt has passed on.

I'd forgotten that he also owned the drive-in. (You had mentioned before that the same person owned the drive-in & the theater)

manage. he wasn't the owner. he is also linked to the one ole royal park inn you like. his name is on one meter.

I thought we discussed it?

(Getting only a mere handful of hours' of sleep each night for a while is catching up with me. Geesh!)
no that store namesake in that one. I remember it there, an where im talking about . it was on Seminole across from the theatre

I watched both videos, and they were the same.

There was a much earlier video (posted the same day as the two about Wodtke's) that we talked about. I thought we talked about the Wodtke's videos as well. But then, maybe I merely remember laughing at the woman's memory of a driver deciding that Wodtke's offered drive-in services (drove her car into the store). Also about offering air conditioning earlier than many businesses, which attracted more shoppers.
