Satan? You mean THAT little imp...?

Not so 'little' when compared to all the havoc and upheval that he causes.

There are some other NAMES that also denote the quality of Satan.
Taken from the KJV and NASU/NASB

Most common are...
....Satan
....Devil/s

....demon/s (common in NASU/NASB but none in KJV)

Less common are...
....evil one
....destroyer
....evil spirit

Oh absolutely, I understand what you are saying and I agree. Satan is no kitty cat, he is a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. The point was that one day when God has divested Satan of His power and cast him into the lake of fire he will no longer appear as glorified and strong.

As we can see from the Scripture I quoted in the OP, at that point in time (it being a yet future event for us) his previous power was acknowledged but it was primarily a mock toward him for finally becoming "weak" (will mark the mocking parts in red) like the rest of them confined to Sheol (Isaiah 14:10). Look at the previous power this figure wielded:

"Those who see you will gaze at you, They will ponder over you, saying,
'Is this the man who made the earth tremble,
Who shook kingdoms,
Who made the world like a wilderness
And overthrew its cities,
Who did not allow his prisoners to go home?
' "

Satan will have no more pomp, although he once (at that point in time it will be "past tense" only) had much:

"Your pomp is brought down to Sheol,
And the sound of your stringed instruments;
The maggot is spread under you,
And worms cover you
." (vs. 11)

Satan will be mocked that he has been made weak and powerless, mocked by the other dead around him:

"They all shall speak and say to you:
' Have you also become weak as we?
Have you become like us?
'" (vs. 10)

That was my initial point, concerning the eschatalogical scene here, not any attempt to belittle Satan's current power on earth, he is the prince of the power of the air after all. Do you understand my point and/or intention now?

You, of course, are right in pointing out that should not be done to Satan himself, as we don't have authority over him - and I did not intend to imply I challenge Satan in such a manner.

We, as joint-heirs with Christ certainly do have authority over Satan...and we had better be using it. In Jesus' name we defeat him and his crafty schemes. Believing that we have no authority over Satan or his angels is a lie of Satan himself. Don't believe it.

Mark 16-17
And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;

John 14:12
“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.

1 John 4:4
But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.

Colossians 2:15
In this way, he disarmed[a] the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross

1 Peter 3:22
Now Christ has gone to heaven. He is seated in the place of honor next to God, and all the angels and authorities and powers accept his authority.

---which we have and exercise in His glorious and powerful name!

I understand what you are saying too. *chuckles* See it takes a good balance to strike this issue just right. If I can find the thread I'm thinking about I had a discussion with someone about this, where I said that though we should not not go picking a fight with Satan on purpose (because Satan is stronger than us, but not greater than "He who is in me") however if Satan comes at us James tells us to stand our ground and resist Satan so that he will flee from us. In that case we have authority over what we allow Satan to do to us, although even then there are the exceptional cases like in Job where God allowed Satan to test Job and make him miserable.

I'll put it this way: we do not have absolute authority over Satan, thus Padion's point about Michael not even daring to revile Satan or "angelic majesties", and we should not pick a fight with Satan or demons lest we end up like the seven sons of sceva, nonetheless we do have authority concerning how Satan can influence our life and through battles in prayer and faith we can sucessfully resist Satan and stand our ground and he will flee from us. Does that make sense?

Good Josh, and another verse with similar thought...

Isaiah 65:24-25
24 "It will also come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear. 25 "The wolf and the lamb will graze together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox; and dust will be the serpent's food. They will do no evil or harm in all My holy mountain," says the LORD. NASU

Yes, Satan started out exalted in heaven and in Eden, then on this earth, as 'prince of the power of the air', as you stated...but, he will end in a state of humility, and everyone will see.
