Should women teach in the church?

This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work..

Amen. A true saying.

Do you wish to expand the OP?

Just showing context.

If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord. But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant. Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues. Let all things be done decently and in order. 1 Corinthians 14:37-49

The context is about tongues and interpretation of tongues, as well as prophesying.

Does your church desire earnestly to prophesy and speak in tongues, since these things are commandments from the Lord that the Church may be edified?

And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
Ephesians 4:11-16

Does this scripture concerning Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers, exclude women?

Can anyone give a reason for women being forbidden to teach or hold any position in the church? I am, of course, referring to Western society, not the repressive society of the Middle East. There, women are forbidden to go around with their heads uncovered, just as some Christians would prefer in their interpretation of the "New Testament law".

1 Corinthians 11:13, "Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered?"

You see, you can misapply Paul's writings as new commands of God and create new universal laws. Christians must be led by the Spirit and not create new laws to subjugate women, as there is neither male nor female in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:28)

Forbidding women to teach in church is contrary to God's will.

All are equal in the sight of God.

I do not see a new law in those verses, do you?

We are free in Christ but we still have to follow the commands of the Bible. No?

Why did Paul write those verses.

Gods design has always been for men to lead, they are the head after Christ.

1Ti 2:12 But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet.
1Ti 2:13 For it was Adam who was first formed, and then Eve.
1Ti 2:14 And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into trespass.
1Ti 2:15 But she will be saved through the bearing of children, if they continue in faith and love and sanctification with self-restraint.
My personal opinion...was it was where they were spiritually and culturally.

It was the start of the church there...
So if you do not want confusion you must set rules where people are at until they grow.....

If you grew in Christ you would see there is no Male or female....but that's my opinion

Of course not. Women are equal to men in Christ and are capable of performing any task to which they are called by the Lord. Some men want to dominate women, but that is not Christian behavior.

Yes, it partially excludes women.
Women can't lead men.
Women can prophesy, and teach younger women.

Paul gave the reasons in 1 Tim 2:13-14.
Besides Gen 2:18, where God made the woman for the man, and not man for the woman.

If you don't want to make new laws, drop your NEW "women can teach men" law.

This is just a new law, and Christians are not under law. Can you give a valid reason why women can't lead men? Can you give a valid reason why women can't do anything that doesn't require extreme physical strength? Are women somehow mentally, emotionally, or spiritually deficient in your opinion.

Some of the problem with the incorrect doctrine may stem from the Greek word ἀνθρώποις (anthrōpois), which is translated 'men' in older translations (due to cultural bias) but is actually generic, referring to both men and women.. Modern translations correctly translate the word as 'people'.

For example, 2 Timothy 2:2, KJV, "And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also."

2 Timothy 2:2, NIV, "And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others."

2 Timothy 2:2, NET, "And what you heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful people who will be competent to teach others as well."

2 Timothy 2:2, NRSVue, "and what you have heard from me through many witnesses entrust to faithful people who will be able to teach others as well."

2 Timothy 2:2, NASB, "The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful people who will be able to teach others also."
