The Derailing Thread

Excuse my spelling and grammar. My kindle's auto correct works in weird ways and it gets frustrating to correctit. Also typing fast on here makes the words run together, even when I clearly hit the space button.
Typing in my iPod is so much easier.

You seem to manage better than I do, anyway...

Blessings.

Mario is with Nintendo. Nintendo and SEGA were competitors, but maybetheyve merged in more recent years?

At any rate, I know Sonics creator was Japanese. And that Sonic Team is, having seen videos of themtthem talking about new releases.
uhm im a bit older then you. I remember having the first sega machines, the Atari 2600, 5200, the Nintendo gaming system.

American.

I will admit that he is Japanese but here when he came out on could only play him on the Atari machines and arcade games which did have the Nintendo symbol on it. now that I remember

Yes, well, some rock music contains rude words as well, doesn't it.
Some. I even know of a couple Christian artists who used the word "damn". One in a non-swearing sense, and one in quoting something. Also the metal rap Christian band P.O.D. used a vulgar swear for emphasis in one song.
Not saying I necessarily agree with the last two examples. Most Christian artists avoid those words, the vast majority.

Hey. I watch programs with swearing and most of the anime I watch has at least some. I'm not going to agree with everything the characters do or say, but unless it's directly promoting sin and putting it in a good light it doesn't deter me.

The music I listento, on the other hand? It has a closer connection to my personal beliefs, so I'd be a bit more restrictive of that.

Maybe Sonic belonged to Nintendo at some point, or they had some permissionto use him, but Sonic did come on the SEGA Genesis console, and he does belong to SEGA now. (I have several of the modern games.

P.S. Oh, mean Mario?

I guess the lyrics at Winter Jam recently would have been pretty clean, anyway.

sonic like castlevania has crossed system. I remember him on genesis but Nintendo did at one time on him and may still does. on Mario he was always on Nintendo but was on an Atari machine under colecovision.

Sega's roots can be traced back to a company based in Honolulu, Hawaii named Service Games, which began operations in 1940. In 1951, Raymond Lemaire and Richard Stewart moved the company to Tokyo, Japan to develop and distribute coin-operated jukeboxes, games, and slot machines. Within a few years Service Games began importing these machines to American military bases throughout Japan.

In 1954, David Rosen, an American officer in the Air Force, launched a two-minute photo booth business in Tokyo. This company eventually became Rosen Enterprises, and in 1957 began importing coin-operated games to Japan. By 1965, Rosen Enterprises grew to a chain of over 200 arcades, with Service Games its only competitor. Rosen then orchestrated a merger between Rosen Enterprises and Service Games, who by then had their own factory facilities, becoming chief executive of the new company, Sega Enterprises, which derived its name from the first two letters of SErvice GAmes.[5]

Within a year, Sega began the transition from importer to manufacturer, with the release of the Rosen designed submarine simulator game Periscope. The game at that time sported innovative light and sound effects, eventually becoming quite successful in Japan. It was soon exported to both Europe and the United States, becoming the first arcade game in America to cost 25¢ per play.[5]

In 1969, Rosen sold Sega to Gulf+Western (now known as Viacom), remaining on however as CEO of the Sega division. Under Rosen's leadership, Sega continued to grow and prosper, and in 1972 G&W made Sega Enterprises a subsidiary, and took the company public. Sega's current logo dates back to 1976. In 1976, they released a large screen TV, Sega-Vision (not to be confused with their portable media player, Sega Vision).[6] Sega prospered heavily from the arcade gaming boom of the late 1970s, with revenues climbing to over $100 million by 1979.[5]

The concept of Sonic came (and still does) from Sonic Team, a Japanesecompany. SEGA may not have been an originally Japanese company, but Sonic Team is.

Also Sonic is SEGA's mascot.

Yup.
One of the rap artists that was there has an interesting song that if you don't know the story behind it sounds rather anti-Christian. But it's not. He has a video explaining the stories behind it.
Look up the lyrics to "Dear Mr Christian" by Derek Minor. He didn't play it at Winter Jam, but we were talking about it in Sunday school yesterday after the lesson was over.

I'm not into rap myself, but it was interesting.

I can't quite imagine you as a rapper and street artist... :)

Did your mom like Winter Jam?

Blessings.

A white rapper? LOL!

She ended up not going because the whole "standing in line for two hours" and after that the possibility of not being able to enter due to the building being full didn't sound very appealing to her or her BF.
I was pretty much guaranteed entry due to my youth group having us pay for passes that allow us to get in early. (Among other nice benefits like a special discount on merchandise.) I told my mom about that, but she thought it was too expensive. (The group rate is cheaper, so I didn't have to pay that much.)

My mom is learning to play the guitar, though. Her BF is a music lover. He likes the same kind of music she does, but also some contemporary artists. (Doesn't seem to have an opinion either way on hard rock, since I know you'll ask.)

Well, don't be surprised if your mom kind of mellows about rock music, of the soft or hard variety, through the influence of her bf.

I reckon he was just a bit disappointed they didn't got to WJ.

Blessings.

I don't know why, but after hearing someone talk about Bible prophecy such as the rapture, I feel really scared and creeped out. I don't know why. It always kinda had that affect on me for reason.

Well, how about letting Bible passages such as 1 Thess. 4 edify and encourage you rather than creep you out... :)

Blessings.
