The destruction of the temple in 70AD, how do futurists deal with this?

Just to add, my parents and grandparents believed that when Christ returned, he would sit on David's throne in Westminster Abbey. The British Israel theory. My opinion is that prophesy will not be fulfilled until David's throne and Jacobs pillow stone are returned to the land from whence they came along with the remnant of Christian Jews.

I have no reason for saying that, except it seems the right, and possibly the necessary thing to happen, knowing they are Gods chosen people.

I leave opinions to others. I'm done for now and thanks.

1 Corinthians 7:25 kjv
25. Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful.

The throne of David (IMHO) is the new heart of flesh received at Pentecost. Christ in us our hope of Glory

Colossians 1:27 kjv
27. To whom God would make known what isthe riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you,
the hope of glory:

David was a man after God’s heart.
Not that his flesh achieved it but he sought after it.

We are not yet what we will be.

I met one couple that were into that British concept. They were not as humble as David.
Listening to them you would think the Resurrection had come and they had arrived.

Regretfully we are still awaiting the changes at the last trump.

Jesus is the one sitting on the throne of the new heart we receive. The hidden man of the heart is not us, but Jesus.

The ones leaving destruction carry inside themselves the humble heart.

I can't agree with that. Besides, I have seen the throne of David.

There are so many opinions, but only one truth.

You are into opinions?

The pillow stone INHO:
Jacob lost the feeling in his extremities (limbs went to sleep). When we cut off the pride of life we see the spiritual more clearly. Perfect vision? No. The spine bears messages from the mind to the body. Angels carry messages from God to man (and prayers to God?).

Those leaving the thoughts of the Old Jerusalem take with them the oracles of God (in their new mind of Christ). The Jews have the advantage of the oracles of God
Romans 3

The gentiles are grafted into the root, and become part of the one new man. It is no longer them and us. Jesus set aside the middle wall of partition. Ephesians 2:14

I am going to shut up for now.

You are into opinions?
I would say yes, regretfully.

Peter had the opinion of the circumcision party controlling him even after the gentile inclusion.

Paul said with the flesh the law of sin. With the mind the law of God. Heart and mind.

Is it good that I do this? No. There is no sin that we have but is common to man.

Daily battle to do away with the flesh.

The question sometimes is:
Into which baptism are you baptized?

Where we are is a hint as to what we need.

When we are a children we think like a child. I have had a tough time going towards maturity.

The temple was destroyed in the past so that is not to be fulfilled but is fulfilled. Besides there is no temple to be destroyed in the future. But there have been theories that come and go. Usually the “good guys” in the theory are the nation where the one who came up with the theory lives and the bad guys some other people.
I have no reason for saying that, except it seems the right, and possibly the necessary thing to happen, knowing they are Gods chosen people.

We can ask ourselves, what are they chosen for? What does the lessons of real history tell us they were chosen to do?

Two minds that think alike, praise God. To be honest I cannot say with any confidence why God chose them, unless they are to be a lesson to the rest of the world? And probably no other nation would have hunted down a newborn baby with the intention of killing it. Eventually they succeeded but by then everything God had planned was accomplished. It was finished. His work on earth, done. Praise His Holy Name.

What do you think?

What a kind and yet honest response (not to mention humble.) I can learn from your example!

In the OT, we find a scripture where God tells them that other nations will look upon their laws and see what a just and wise people the children of Israel are. Sort of like Solomon but in large. Their laws taught the world how to conduct a just and yet merciful society. They alone were the nation who did this. It’s quite remarkable. They were ruled by just judges, not one powerful man (or woman.) That still stands today although now in the cultures framed from the teachings of Christ. Israeli law isn’t particularly just today.

Secondly, they were a people prepared with the deep understanding of the ways of God. That’s why Paul writes that to them belongs the intellectual as well as heartfelt preparation of the Savior. They alone in the world were prepared to generate the understanding of the Gospel. It broke his heart that so many rejected the fulfillment. All the 12 apostles were Jews, 100%. That wasn’t just convenience.

Third, they gave us their prize son for our salvation. They kept the teachings or writings or love of the things of God alive down through the centuries to give the world its Savior, their beloved Son of David.

That’s what I think they were chosen to do.

Yes. It’s quite remarkable in human history.

It does, however, lead one to the conclusion that their mission is finished. That nations of the earth are now blessed through Jesus. No nation is blessed through Israel and hasn’t been since 70AD.

This is why I want to see Israel turn to Christ, but there are a few bridges to cross before that will happen imo, and I think Christians have a roll to play in this.

We might differ here. I want to see all nations turn to Christ and don’t see any favorites God has among the nations or races for that reason. He does have favorites, those who obey his teachings. But this isn’t because of nationality or race. I don’t see favoritism based on anything else in scripture or real life. That’s how I see it, anyway.

Yes of course I want to see all nations turn to Christ, but the Jews believe in one God, as is right and proper, while we Christians make Jesus look like a third bit player among a trinity of gods and not Yahweh himself made visible as promised in Old Testament prophesy.

You see according to the trinity diagram, Jesus is NOT the Father, so that eliminates Jesus from their thinking.

Dog walk time and then I have a hospital appointment. Back later.

John 2:12 through John 2:22

The temple Jesus was; was destroyed and the Godhead raised him up. (The Father and I are one).

To look at a building made with human hands is natural man thinking. Jesus was the express image of the Godhead bodily, The temple was not the ultimate reality.

Abraham understood all about Old Jerusalem. Hebrews 11:10
Abraham was not looking for a natural city, but he was looking for something God had done.

We are the temple of the Holy Spirit now. Much scripture talks of saints being killed. Those will be raised up.

We can just see our natural existence.
Or
We can see our spiritual existence too.

We are raised at the Resurrection.
