For one thing, the Himalayas, which are still rising from the still observable movement of the Indian plate against the Eurasian Plate, could not have formed in that time. Yet they formed.
I would think a great deal of people would beleive the himalayas(and other mountains, etc) to be created as mountains, and not forming within 6000-10000 years. I don't see why the need to let them form, instead of creating them as mountains.
