THE FORMULA FOR SALVATION

It sure doesn't mean that Jesus knocks at the heart of everybody in the world.
Remember, the original question asked was:

Personally, I believe it's wider than we think.
Jesus stands at the door and knocks...
Jesus is God.
God is knocking...
What if someone opens the door but has never heard of Jesus?
We know there is not a literal door that Jesus knocks on, but do know that it is the word preached to us in whom our hearts will be pricked/convicted as faith comes by hearing the word, but many that hear also reject it as their hearts are filled with the lust of the world. In todays day and age, unless you live under a rock the word of God has gone out into all the world so no one is without excuse

Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Rom 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Rom 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
Rom 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
Rom 10:16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Act 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Mat 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

The passage has one thing I noticed.
The richYoung ruler.

Another word is You

Jesus knew the ability of a possibly unmarried young man to go into more spiritual pursuits.

We do not know the situation.

He was an important wealthy Jewish leader which was the problem. But He wasn’t going to abandon that honor before men by become Zen,

Proxy is not a word I use regularly.

1 Peter 2:24 kjv
24. Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Sounds like proxy to me.

Eddif,
you said the above in a different thread. I was getting mixed up so I moved it here since it belongs to the topic under discussion.

The problem with the proxy idea is that Jesus never said we just had to believe in Him and He would be the one who does everything for us.

He said to follow Him. As you've stated.
This means to follow Him in his idealogy, His teachings, His life.

We are to be like Jesus...
This is not done by proxy but by living the life He has laid our for us.

Too many say that we need do nothing but believe because Jesus has done it all.
This cannot be true since all Jesus spoke of was how we are to live.

Galatians 4:4 kjv
4. But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5. To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

This area of statements is just about out of my league.

Jesus spoke while under the law.
Jesus spoke concerning the future.

New Testament writers explained what was happening in both time periods.

Rednecks have their limitations in explanations, but thankfully the above scripture does a good job of explaining.

The instructions for salvation are the same for OT and NT.

When Jesus preache to those in prison.

1 Peter 3:19 kjv
19. By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
20.

Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

They become the same. Both OT Jew and NT Christian

We are rich in the glory of Christ as those who hold onto the things of this world lusting after earthly riches will never know such Spiritual richness.

Are you one of those cockeyed optimists?

I got this from The Joshua Project. Don't know the exact date but it says 2022.

The latest estimates suggest that approximately 7,400 people groups are considered unreached. That means over 40% of the world’s people groups have no indigenous community of believing Christians able to evangelize the rest of their people group. Over 42% of the world’s population live in these over 7,400 people groups.

Consider for example the 135,000,000 unreached Shaikh of Bangladesh, the 59,000,000 unreached Brahman of India, 58,000,000 unreached Yadav of India or the 37,000,000 unreached Java Pesisir Lor of Indonesia, most of the individuals in these groups and thousands of other unreached people groups are completely ignorant of the King of Kings.

It is a great injustice to think that 2,000 years after Jesus gave the Great Commission that many people groups have no witness in their midst. To say that a people group is unengaged means there are definitely no missionaries, in all likelihood no outreach, no church or fellowship of believers, no Christian materials, and few if any Bibles in these people groups.

While it is certainly possible the Lord has been supernaturally at work among an unengaged group without outside involvement, this would not be the typical way He has ordained for the spread of the Gospel. He commanded the Church to go. There are millions of individuals in these unengaged people groups that have never heard of Jesus or His work of redemption.

The whole thing is here:

The whole thing is here:
Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Rom 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Rom 1:23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
Rom 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
Rom 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

Within every generation from the time of Adam have forsaken God and have become blinded by the lust of their hearts running after the lust of this world.

So no, I am not a cockeyed optimists, but one who sees God in His creation.

How would selling his goods make him blameless? We cannot do good works to make up for our sin. You cannot sell your stuff or beat your body and thereby become suddenly blameless of past sins.
The above post is number 48 by you

The rich young ruler has his mind set on his riches. Jesus knows his inner heart.

Mark 4:19 kjv
19. And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

In keeping up with his riches he can not serve God ( completely / totally / blamelessly / other word ?).
Because
This is before the Holy Spirit is sent to the Sons and Daughters. He is not a prophet. So the rich young ruler is operating under the law. In the NT he might be able to have the Holy Spirit guide him ( in spite of him having riches), but the Holy Spirit is not come yet.

Jesus knows what he has to do under the law
And he tells him what he (A man under the law) must do.

The rich young ruler had asked (what must I do?). Jesus is telling him.

You want to inherit eternal life ( you do this).

If he sells his possessions he can have a single mind towards God.
IOW he can be completely spiritual towards God.toward God.

I am answering your post 38 here too.
You said the rich young ruler might go into spiritual stuff.
It ought not be too complicated.we only have 6 orzo posts about the rich young ruler between just us. LOL

Act 4:10, Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
Act 4:11, This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
Act 4:12, Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Rom 10:13, For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Mat 1:21, And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

All one needs to do, in order to be saved, is to call upon the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth for salvation from sin.

Repeat after me:

"Dear Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I call upon Your name for salvation from sin."

If you say those words and mean them, you shall be saved.

Too bad none of the apostles knew that easy salvation formula. It would have saved them a lot of trouble in life. Just say the “right” words and of course mean them at that point in time (whatever that is) you’re destined for Heaven.
