The rich can't survive without the poor

This is another statement by another chemistry lecturer. He said that the services of the poor to the rich sustains the rich.

Examples
He said, a rich man could start a small business, say he has farm produce. He says the poor people would like to buy at cheaper prices from him.

In areas where water supply is a problem the rich man could establish a borehole and sell water to the poor.

He said a lot of things.

Do we have any other examples where the services of a poor man sustains the rich?

And why did people (masters) need slaves and servants in those days? They (the masters)couldn't do the work. And they needed the poor servants to survive.

My first day of college psychology instructor stated as his opening line...You dont owe society, society owes you. I knew then it was worthless.

Its more of a need then the rich needing the poor. An entrapnuer could see that a location dosen't have a specific trade or good and imports or builds that trade in the area. So the Rich person/ entrapnuer used the need. I think most conflicts of rich and poor happen when a company purposely tries to rig the system so the poor need to use their service only keep the poor in a position that is very hard to get out of.

And it used to be a lot worse when companies and industries had less machines. In those days people worked until they shed tears.

But With all these machines a lot of people have been displaced. Life is a bit easier for individuals.

Take for examples, companies that use many conveyors will of course need servicing of their motor. So, the agony is usually common with companies using heavy mechanical stuff.

There is a benefit though. With the advent of the internet and personal computers and lap tops, and now tablets. We now have easier ways of communicating and networking. Youtube, Deviantart, forums, tumblr, Facebook, flickr, and Redit, have all opened up newer niches for technology and industry to flourish. Well, as long as the government keeps their hands out of it, that is. ;)

Yes, Marble. And people are glad about it. :thumbsup

Supply and demand. You provide a service, I pay for that service which creates gain on the suppliers end, but demand remains the same.

the goverment in its whacky way does the same.

if you dont follow the political line you will not be promoted no matter how well you perform.

i have seen this alot in the old days of the army and also im going throught at work.im stuck where i work and theres no and i mean no incentive to work hard here. i could work and fix a lot more things if i so choose but i dont get paid more for that. so i play a game. do a little extra to please them but not so much that the others who should do that job will expect me to do it.

so my option would be to leave my job and go work for myself where any extra money i make is mine.

If you are talking in biblical terms then most servants sold themselves as slaves because they were in debt. They didn't have welfare back then and everybody had worth.

What would the poor do with out the rich?

Mat 26:11 For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.

It's somehow possible that the poor can survive alone. Just farm and eat and forget about luxury.

But most rich men can't manage or survive hardship. (They like stealing from the poor)....as if to say they read (and misunderstood) the verse that says, '...even the little you have will be taken from you and be given to the ones that have more.':chin

Unfortunatly Classik, in America most "poor" people now feel a sense of entitlement for that new Droid and big screen tv... Aren't they now "stealing" from the rich?
