The Teachings of Paul

Take a couple steps back, geet on your face before God and wait on Him to reveal the truth. You are not believing the truth thus far, elijah. You have been deceived.

I don’t think I have been deceived, not to the extent that you suggest.

Paul had license given by His Lord Jesus Christ to say that. He was summing up the law of Christ.

Please stop attributing fallibility to the inspired writings of one anointed by God and personally chosen by Jesus Himself to establish His Church in the world through much trial and persecution.

I don’t think Paul was perfect.

According to the word, you have been deceived.

The Word, I think, is the teachings of Jesus, which are found in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Is there anything in those teachings that I disobey?

I don’t think Paul was perfect.

No one here has said Paul was perfect, and neither did he himself! For that matter, was Matthew perfect? After all, Jesus didn't scribe His own speech, did He?

Scripture delivers perfect truth---all 66 books of it. Believe that or be deluded. You have been given the truth there, and yet you balk at it.

You are straining at a gnat and swallowing a camel.

That is between you and God.

However, you are neglecting all the teachings about Holy Spirit when you neglect Jesus promise of the thrird Person of the Godhead coming and baptizing us in His power and anointing... the story doesn't end with Jesus' ascension.

John 16:7 NLT
But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you.

There is more to Jesus' life lived in and through us that you ignore.

Let God out of the box, elijah!

I think a couple of the things Paul says in the Bible are misstatements. It doesn’t bother me—most of what he says is very helpful.

I don’t neglect the rest of the Bible. I just think it is best to take the teachings of Paul with a grain of salt.

It is you who seem to confine the Lord. You seem to think he is contained in the Bible. There is much more to him than that.

If this is true, why did Paul say the entire law was based on one commandment, that we should love our neighbors as ourselves, while Jesus said the entire law was based on two commandments, that we should love the Lord with all our hearts, minds, and souls, and love our neighbors as ourselves?
When my sister and I both sat at the dinner table we were instructed, "Don't talk to strangers," AND "Don't take candy from strangers."

The following day my sister saw a friend taking candy from a stranger and became alarmed. She told her friend, "Don't take candy from strangers."

So now comes elijah23 and he heard both commandment given at the table, because he was a guest in our house. He went to my dad and said, "Your daughter didn't teach what you wanted."

He also asked, "Why did you name her Paul?"

When I spoke to my dad about it later he said, "Invite your friend to supper more often. He is a son to me."

What you think are misstatements are your lack of spiritual understanding in the matter being taught.

if you think any part of the bible is less than truth it SHOULD bother you!!!

As far as helpful, that is an understatement. Paul's epistles are the word of Almighty God!!

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 NLT
We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.

Try taking every rebellious thought of human reasoning you have on this issue captive and make it conform to Christ. Paul did. So far, you haven't done so.

It is you who seem to confine the Lord. You seem to think he is contained in the Bible. There is much more to him than that.

You have absolutely no reason to conclude that, just as you have no reason to conclude that only 4 books of the bible are truth, and the 62 others are to be taken lightly. That is not the thinking of one who is born again.

Paul was wrong. The entire law is not summed up in one commandment, that you should love your neighbor as yourself. It is summed up in two commandments, that you should love the Lord with all your heart, mind, and soul, and love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus said so.

It doesn’t bother me because I have faith in the Lord.

You are tripping over something that only you see as wrong when it isn't. By harping on one thing you don't understand, you miss out on the life Jesus wants to give you.

The entire swimming pool is there for us to enjoy, but you choose to sit in the kiddie pool. So sad.

As far as helpful, that is an understatement. Paul's epistles are the word of Almighty God!!

I don’t believe this. The almighty word of the Lord is found all throughout the Old Testament and in the teachings of Jesus, in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, but I think the teachings of Paul are a matter of Paul sharing with us his own opinions, most of which are very helpful.

It doesn’t bother me because I have faith in the Lord.

Branch out and learn of Christ through His word by His Holy Spirit. There is more of Him there for you. Staying a baby isn't what God wants.

My thoughts need to conform to Jesus, but not to Paul.
