Actually I still am a pre-tribber because the tribulation referred to in Matthew 24 seems to be a unique event on earth (the church as distinct from Israel will be raptured in the air), while the tribulation principle ('in the world ye shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer: I have overcome the world') seems distinct as a general, tribulation principle.

Blessings.

From the time of the cross, which also means the last days, which includes what some like to separate and call the Great Tribulation, which is not mentioned anywhere in scripture and is not a separate event after the elect of God are caught up, but as the last days so we are in tribulation times until the end of the world as we know it; (Ref: Acts 2:17; Hebrews 1:1,2; Matthew 24:4-31; Mark 13:24-31; Luke 21:5-36). These are just some of the scriptures that support that we will go through all things of Revelation Chapters 6-21.

Revelation, which means veil rolled aside, starts with the seven churches that spiritually represent all Gods children as they are given the seven spirits of God to help keep them inline with the will of God. The seven spirits are wisdom, understanding, counsel, knowledge, reverence, might and the Spirit of the Lord. Revelation chapter 4 is used in the false teachings of a pretrib rapture that teaches the saints of God will be out of here before a Great Tribulation occurs. This is a monstrous deception of Satan that will cause many to fall away from God as we will go through everything of Revelations including the seven seals of judgment, seven trumpets of judgment, the harvest judgment, the seven vials of judgment right up to and including the two final battles when judgment comes on all the inhabitants on the earth dead and alive.

God does not want us to fear those things which must come, but be prepared for those things which have to come. If we are truly sealed by the Spirit of God through repentance then we need not fear what man can do to the flesh as we have the Holy Spirit dwelling in us as we have died to self and we no longer live, but Christ lives in us. We will be the witness of Christ to the world when the last of the abominations take place and our only concern needs to be of us being the witness to the nations that God has called us to be.

Matthew chapter 13, Jesus teaches about the wheat and the tares as the wheat being those who are of truth hearing with Spiritual ears and seeing truth with Spiritual eyes that have repented and the tares being those of deception that only think and see with a carnal mind of rationalization that have not repented. This means saints and those who reject truth or never repented of their ways will all be here on earth when Jesus returns in the air with his army and we as the wheat will go with him when the time of harvest is ripe, but the tares are those that do not repent and will stand in the Great White Throne Judgment before God and will be condemned for eternity as their names will not be found in the Lambs book of life.

Revelation 14:14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.

Revelation 14:15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.

Revelation 14:16 and he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.

Revelation 14:17 and another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.

Revelation 14:18 And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.

Revelation 14:19 and the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.

Revelation 14:20 And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

Revelation 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Revelation 20:13 and the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

Revelation 20:14 and death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Revelation 20:15 and whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Matthew 24.21:

For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

This is a unique event. Israel, from whose ranks many of the tribulation saints are likely to come, is an earthly people, while the church's character is heavenly, and will be raptured 'in the air' (1 Thess. 4). I find it hard to see that 'in the world ye shall tribulation' as a general principle, is exactly the same as the unique event of Matthew 24.

Blessings.

Mat 24:27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Mat 24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
Mat 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
Mat 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Mat 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

This world has always had tribulations that came against Gods elect (us), even to death of the flesh and will continue until Jesus returns in the clouds at that time. It will be at that time that what is spoken in Rev 14:14-20 and Matthew 13:24-43 will come about as we, the saints of God, are taken up to meet Jesus in the air until the final two battles are fought and won and then ushers down the new Heaven and the New Earth as then we will be with the Lord forever.

The Church is Israel.....The two can't be seperated....

I honestly think it will be pre trib. Because if not pre it takes away from Christ imminence. The owner of the house returning at a time you do not know. So stay alert/awake for the owner. Evidence of other times of judgement leans toward God rescuing certain people before events. 1.Noah and his family. 2. Lot and his family. 3.The harlot of Jericho (Rahab) that helped Joshua's men with intel.

WordsintoHarmony:...But there is only a second appearance of Christ. It is called “The day of the Lord:...It’s why it is called Jesus second appearance....

Is that term in scripture? "Second coming?"

I didn't read any of the replies so that I would not be distracted by other replies. Generally speaking, I believe that you have a good handle on it and a good attitude about others having a different viewpoint. We have tossed this around quite a bit on the board, and I was solidly a pre-trib believer, but the post-trib believers here make an excellent case for post trib, and I have not taken their words lightly and go through it all yet again by myself to try and find a solid place on which to land my belief.

Tim Lahaye, Hal Lindsay, Chuck Missler, and those Pastors, have been right about some things, and wrong about some things. I will not totally discount everything they say merely because they have a few things wrong. No one has all of the answers, and good Pastors will tell the audience "don't take my word for it, do your homework and figure it out for yourself" which is good advice. We are to study these things ourselves, pray on them and it shall be given us by the Holy Spirit.

I have not conclusively changed from a pre-trib to a post-trib believer, nor have I conclusively decided that I am still a pre-trib believer. I am...up in the air on it right now. What is a safe position I believe, is to prepare for a rapture, as if Jesus would come tonight to take me (and all other believers etc..) so that just in case it happens, I will be ready, with oil in my lamp for when the bridegroom comes.

If He does not rapture us, then He will certainly protect us from the wrath that is to come. There is scriptural evidence for this also that is easy to understand, aside from spiritual common sense. This will be exciting either way and I am not scared in the least. Ohh, we live in exciting times!

(now I will read the rest of the thread.)

Interesting. WordsintoHarmony, whether you realize it or not, you make quite a few presumptions in your position. I am a little bit more pre-trib than post-trib because even though the post-tribbers make a good case, they fail in some points to back themselves up with scripture. I have a lot of notes and scriptures on pre-trib, and will delve deeply into this with you. You seem to have an open mind and are not getting emotionally involved here, so I will. I don't have time right this moment to pull out the notes, but I will brother, I will..

God bless you, brother. Perhaps you can answer some of the things that the post-trib believers could not/would not before.

:)

He only comes it a time you do not know,ie darkness, for those not in the light.....We are to know the season.Christ can't come at anytime because He told us all that must happen before His return......

Did he remove them from the earth. Or did He give them a way to escape.

1Co_10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
