Understanding The Law Of Moses - With The Help Of The Prophets And The Apostles

Galatians 4:4 kjv
4. But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5. To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

On the day of Pentecost
Acts 2:5 kjv
5. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
37. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men andbrethren, what shall we do?
38. Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
40. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
41. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

The Jews were redeemed.

I suppose that now that the Jews are redeemed at Pentecost, we can see what was done with the gentiles.

A redeemed Peter had to be prepared for that task.
And
A gentilehad to have Jewish Friends
And God ?

Who wants to take care of the gentiles?

Ephesians 2:15 kjv
15. Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments containedin ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
16. And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
17. And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

The enmity is gone.

Matthew 23:23 kjv
23. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

The good parts of the law are still being manifested.

Matthew 5:17 kjv
17. Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

The prophets said:
Jeremiah 31:31 kjv
31. But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Ezekiel 36:27 kjv
27. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
….
Apostle said:
Hebrews 8:10 kjv
10. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
11. And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

The law is still being fulfilled.

Ezekiel 36:27 kjv
27. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
I agree the law God wants us to follow he puts in us. We are not under the old law. The law written on stone.

The law contains blessings and cursings. The "enmity" of the law, what is against us are the cursings for breaking it. So Paul is teaching that Jesus didn't use the law against people who sinned against him.

He took them by the hand out of slavery as Spirit speaking by a prophet.

And our Lord also said,

The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here. Mt.12:42

Gods' intention in giving Moses the law had to do with showing us that we've all sinned against him and need repent.
Our Saviors' teaching on even entertaing thoughts about sin make his word even more stringent than the law.

He backed it up by rising from mans condemnation of him. By defeating those who said he was a law breaker worthy of death. According to Moses' law, Jesus was innocent. There was no lawful reason to condemn him as a sinner,

Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father Jn.5:45

as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; Rom.2:20

there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust. Jn.5:45
Matt 22
38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
If one is saved under the new covenant and it is written on his heart to follow these two commandments one will not Lie cheat steal covet murder and many other things w/o the old law.

I agree the law God wants us to follow he puts in us. We are not under the old law. The law written on stone.
The interesting thing is we can still read the law.
Quote parts of it, and discuss the original intent. Look for things that were done as shadows of things to come in the (then) future. Or, may be now, or that still apply in our future or not. Some things may be for others.

If we trash the writing, we just have the guess method.

Ok here we sit (or rather they sat).

A Jewish Messiah came, did the will of the Father, and went to heaven. The only real information is Jewish.
And
Those gentiles (that for the previous 400 years have been spoken to by Jews that mourned / sighed over the sins of Israel). Plus some gentiles had converted to become Jews.

God did not bypass the Jews and only go to the Gentiles.

God did go to a gentile and tell him to get in touch with a certain Jewish person. (Peter).

We can read about this in Acts 10.

Then God has to convince this Jewish man (Peter) to go to the gentile Cornelius. The law of Moses would not allow Peter to go. Takes a vision to convince Peter to take the gospel message to the Gentiles.

This is the point the Jews have to see all foods and gentile people can be clean through declaration and faith.

Me, not being a Jew, probably missed some issues.

Peter goes, Cornelius hears and believes, signs of belief appear and the gentile inclusion has happened.

Now Jew and gentile are brothers (the wall of the law is broken down in Christ). One new man has been made.

Now we can discuss needed scriptures.

Right. So breaking the rest of the commandments shows contempt for God and/or our neighbors.

Humanity sinned against God and man at the same time by sinning his Son, who compassion in return. So the law is written in our hearts to show compassion, not condemnation.

The Bible says when humanty sees how God is willing to forgive those who sinned against his own Son,

they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. Zech.12:19

If our own child displayed love toward his enemies and was murdered the way Gods' Son was, wouldn't that kind of compassion shown by our own child crush us? Cause repentance?

you refer just to my (without the law there is no knowledge of sin) then you are right.
But
We can discuss:
The wages of sin is death ( the law of Moses would list sins punishable by death).
The tithe
Wave offerings
Day of atonement
etc.
This is a very gentile way of looking at this as shown by bringing Paul’s letter into Matthew’s. Both contexts are different due to audience and circumstance.

When you do this, you miss the simplicity in which Jesus speaks and as a result, it becomes easy to hear Paul’s intent over the intent of Jesus in Matthew’s writing.

The two greatest commandments are being discussed for a reason.
Deuteronomy 6:5 kjv
5. And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

And
Leviticus 19:18 kjv
18. Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

The sheep, food, houses, lands, shall all be burned up at the end of time.

God and people are eternal. People are eternal (can go to heaven or hell), but exist forever.

God and people are eternal realities. Other things are but shadows of things that were to come.
The law and prophets tell us much, and presents a record to remind us what not to do.
Good.
Romans 15:4 kjv
4. For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

Bad
1 Corinthians 10:6 kjv
6. Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

The rod and staff direct us. Hugs and swats. The law has some of both recorded. The law is kept till all is accomplished.

I suggested my comments in a recent post I said ( I probably missed something because I am not Jewish).

The two groups are slightly different Groups. Paul going to gentiles Peter mostly to Jewish persons.

When we discuss the Godhead we go two directions:
How they have the same mind
How the have different areas

The Jews have a long history with OT scriptures.

The gentiles we without God in the world.

These two groups were brought together into one new man.

If you and other Jewish persons can do this can help explain this from OT scripture I am for it.

Right now I have gentile background statements I cringe at. There are no old or new writings that support some statement on

Romans 3:30 kjv
30. Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.

One concept justify.
Two contexts:
Jews
Gentiles

This thread is here to bring peace.
I want all the help we need.

Make all the posts you need or invite more zjewisk believers in.

Although I am a gentile background Christian I resist gentile type side notes.
Jesus resisted some Jewish traditions.

The New Testament and New Covenant is full of how God wants us to live and be saved. The old Testament is full of types and shadows and things that are good to live by and would in many cases better a person but we are not obligated to live by anything written in the old covenant or old law. imo.

I wonder how long of a time they mourn over Jesus in the verse?

LOL and
The scripture is Zechariah 12:10 if you look it up and not 12:19

More than likely this is a prophet slipping into the spirit and talking about the future at the last days. This is probably about Jesus being pierced.

This is right in the time of the law and prophets. The Holy Spirit is your only Guide when this happens. No human intelligence will teach you very much.
Steven and the Eunuch in Acts is the hint.
They are discussing Isaiah 53 in Acts.
A Gentile would not study enough to easily understand, and again there is a Holy Spirit component.
So if this is at Judgement the agony is sudden and right at the brink of going to hell IMHO

Not long, as the joy over knowing he's the Eternal One who grants forgiveness to any who repent, causes us to grow in him,

Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. Jn.14:23

Thanks eddif. I did mean verse 10. 😊

It is about Jesus being pierced. It's about the law being violated in a way that has never been done on earth, because although all sin is committed against God, except for Jesus all sin was committed against creation.
In our Saviors's case, the sins were committed against God himself as a man.

No actually it's whenever a sinner realizes there is no more sacrifice for sin...except to ask him to pardon

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Psa.51:17

He has always had the power to forgive,

Her sins, which are many, are forgiven Lk.7:47

We probably agree.

The gospel is not hidden / hear gospel believe receive.

When you look at hidden messages it may take help to get meaning. I read the law and messages are everywhere. I try and share and sometimes I get no response.

I look at a bovine stomach and go wow, what a mighty God.

This time to mourn is imo clearly speaking of the 2nd time Jesus returns to earth. Its not really anything to laugh at. When one mourns it is usually is days not minutes.

which one of the stomachs?

which one of the stomachs?
Ok the 4 chamber digestive tract
1. Most everyone eats some word
2. Some people rechew / meditate on the word of God
3. The bacteria break down the plant fibers and have some of the energy.
4. The last stomach recaptures the energy.

Preachers should be able to understand a lot.
