Contained in the law and the prophets, Psalms 40:10, begins to tell of the declaration to the great congregation of the Lords salvation which is HIs faithfulness, HIs righteousness, HIs lovingkindness and HIs truth.
John 1 begins with that fulfilment, how no man had ever seen God at any time, and is very specific, that the only begotten Son declares Him, because He is in the bosom of the Father. ( He is with God.)
John 1 continues, how the apostles were glad to have found whom Moses in the law, and the prophets wrote about, Jesus of Nazareth.
Jesus shows how those same law and prophets were until John the Baptist, because Jesus was found, who those same law and prophets ad spoken of, who had come to not conceal and hide the salvation of God, but to declare it, ( preaching the kingdom of God) Jesus prayed ( confirms) to the Father of declaring HIs name, ( for salvation) and how He would declare it for the love the Father has loved the Son may be in them ( who believe in the name of the only begotten Son) and the Son in them. ( in Spirit.)
Jesus sums up the purpose of the law of Moses and the prophets and in the Psalms concerning Him, that all things must be fulfilled that were written.
Jesus opens the apostles understanding then, to understand what the scriptures had testified about Him, how it was written, and how it had to be fulfilled for ( righteousness sake) Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name ( declaring the name of the Father.) among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. The apostles were witnesses of those things.
Psalm 40:10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.
John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
John 1:45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
Luke 16:16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.
John 17:26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
Luke 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
The apostles continued the witness, preaching how by the Lord Jesus Christ, all who believe ( in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:18.) are justified from all things, which the law of Moses could not justify them from, but to beware, of what those same prophets had also prophesised, how they are despisers, they wonder and perish: for the Lord works a work in their days, a work which they shall IN NO WISE BELIEVE, though a man ( the Son of man) declare it unto them.
Fulfilment can be seen in first Luke 4, of all in the synagogue bearing witness to the gracious words that proceeded out of the mouth of Jesus, and they concluded this was Josephs son. Jesus returns answer how the people cannot believe in the physician having healing for all.
After this Jesus tells of a truth to the people, until they were filled with wrath, (They Beheld, they despised they wondered, and they perish.) and thrust Jesus out of the city and led Him to the top of the hill to cast Jesus down headlong.
Later Jesus is casting out devils when the devil was gone out, the man who could not speak, spoke,; and the people wondered. But some of the people said, Jesus was casting out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils. and others, tempting Him, sought of Him a sign from heaven.(Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Luke 4:22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?
23 And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.
Luke 4:28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,
29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.
Luke 11:14 And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered.
15 But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils.
16 And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven.
Acts 13:39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
40 Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;
41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.
After this, apostle Paul has the same evil treatment done on him, and fulfilling the words of Jesus how they would be persecuted for HIs sake.
Apostle Paul confesses how it was not heresy as the people of Israel accused Paul of, but it was worshipping the God of his fathers, believing all things written in the law and the prophets, which is the hope towards God, for the resurrection of the dead, just and just, and by that the apostle exercised himself to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men. Apostle Paul had also said to those who are of the day, to be sober, to put on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
The Psalms and the prophets had told of that hope and salvation in the Lords word, hoping for His salvation and having done HIs commandments, how the salvation of Israel is in the Lord our God, for a man to both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.
Psalm 119:81 My soul fainteth for thy salvation: but I hope in thy word.
Psalm 119:166 Lord, I have hoped for thy salvation, and done thy commandments.
Jeremiah 3:23 Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the Lord our God is the salvation of Israel.
Lamentations 3:26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.
Acts 24:14 But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:
15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.
16 And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void to offence toward God, and toward men.
1 Thessalonians 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
