Warning: anyone who is a habitual sinner is NOT in a saved state

The definition of repent includes sorrow and remorse. I see for_his_glory has already asked what came to my mind.
By "overcome" I meant much more sorrow than you folks are seeing.
And, sorry, but "compassion" disqualifies the list for me.

Sorry, I didn't know that remorse meant being overcome with sorrow.

It's easy to say I'm sorry, but if i doesn't come from the heart then it is only empty words.

Example: Say you killed someone and had no remorse doing this. You get caught and go before the judge and the family of the one you killed. You tell all of them you are sorry. Is it because you were caught or are you really sorrowful for killing that person as you ask for forgiveness.

A little off topic but compassion fits under certain circumstances. I don't think it applies to compassion for one's self but compassion for others that are suffering. In this case, one can feel remorseful or sorrowful for that other person.
