I think yall 'missed' the meaning behind what was stated. I believe that what was meant was NOT that people study the Bible 'looking' for loopholes, I believe that what was meant that MANY read the Bible and interpret it to 'their benefit'. If there is something there that they choose NOT to accept, then they 'try' to find something that they can use to ALTER the 'truth'.
Paul offering that we are free from the bonds of the law does NOT mean that we are to live our lives 'free from our moral and spiritual obligations. If one reads EXACTLY what Paul offered, he states that we are NOW MORE OBLIGATED than before. For before, we were able to simply abide by 'written law'. NOW we are obligated to a MUCH deeper extent to LOVE GOD ABOVE ALL ELSE, and to LOVE OUR NEIGHBORS AS OURSELVES.
Now, I ask this, which of you will stand up and state that they follow EITHER OF THESE? I am curious if there are many or ANY that even understand what it MEANS to DO EITHER. For to do EITHER means one must LOVE GOD, MORE than they love themselves or other things, and they MUST love their neighbors AS THEMSELVES. Hardly what I see when I read the posts offered in defense of SELF that are so OFTEN offered on this forum.
So, what we have here is a SERIOUS lack of communication between God and man. Man thinking that everything is OK now that there has been a sacrifice offered, yet willing to DO nothing to satisfy the 'conditions' of the offering. Guys and gals, what is written in The Word was NOT written to a bunch of sinners in order to satisfy their fears. What was written in The Word was WRITTEN to THOSE that FOLLOW God through The Spirit. And I don't mean with WORDS ONLY.
Do you give EVERY TIME you encounter someone in need and are able to do so? If so, I contend that your bank accounts must be in a NEGATIVE ballance. For we were TOLD without any misunderstanding that we ARE to build our treasures IN HEAVEN. And to love our neihbors AS OURSELVES would mean that those in NEED would NEVER even have to ask. We would be LOOKING for them and hoping to find them in order to help them fulfill their needs. I look around and see PLENTY in need. Not as many in need as there are those that HAVE NO NEEDS. How can this BE if those that 'claim' to be Christians were doing the TWO THINGS that they have been COMMANDED of by CHRIST HIMSELF?
Hardly, my friends, are we the HOLY people that we so often claim. And don't think that we will 'get away' with it. Upon judgement we WILL be reminded of EACH and EVERY time we were ABLE to help others and refused to accept the obligation. And there will be NO ability to LIE then. NOT when one's OWN heart is their conviction.
So, let us not get so haughty that we actually 'believe' that we are righteous. For there is NOT ONE RIGHTEOUS, NO, NOT ONE. We should instead be on our knees daily and often throughtout each of them, praying for forgiveness and guidance. Following the WILL of God rather than trying to find ways to SHIRK the responsibility that HE HAS PLACED UPON US.
For we ARE our brothers KEEPERS. And each and everytime one of them goes without while we sit at home eating our healty and nutritious meals, waiting for the next episode of our favorite show to come on our flat screen TVs, getting to bed early so we can get up and drive our new cars to some silly activity that we call 'work', listening to their favorite CD and singing along like we haven't a 'care in the world', remember what you have heard here. These are those that make Christ want to 'puke' them out. For they are neither hot NOR cold. Claiming the salvation of Jesus Christ but 'doing' NOTHING that He commanded of them to receive such an holy gift. Loving the world and what it has to offer MUCH more than the dirty bum that they speed by and try to avoid eye contact with which may offer a 'twinge' of guilt.
No, folks, we are a nasty lot that has 'bought into' the world and it's offerings. I point NO finger at ANY individual. I have offered these words to ALL who read them. There is ONLY ONE WAY to thank God or Christ for what has been offered and THAT is to DO as we have BEEN COMMANDED. Anything less is NOT ENOUGH.
