    I Finally Cut the Cord

Our AT&T internet is $30/month and no land-line, so this is $80/month all together. ISP's are shady, IMO. Internet speeds never seem to be what they claim, and I can't spend one more minute on the phone with tech support making up excuses for this. I found that anything I was ever interested in...

    I Finally Cut the Cord

This doesn't include internet access. It's just the TV content feed. We haven't had a land-line in years, and it doesn't include cellular. Not sure which you meant. Maybe you are asking if we can watch on cell phones and computers. We can do any of these but only 3 at a time. I already...

    I Finally Cut the Cord

I'm officially a cord-cutter as of last night. That is, I gave Direct TV the boot and reduced my monthly TV access fee by 66%. Our monthly bill goes from $150 to $50. That's $1,200 a year! Instead of satellite service, we plugged in Roku sticks and stream Hulu, Netflix, and Sling TV. We also...

When Even God gives up on us (Romans 1:26-2:1)

Are you suggesting that God put his confidence in Judas, then things went south, so He gave up on him and had to improvise His plan of salvation? I guess we simply have different views of the authority, omniscience, and control of God. As for me, I'll agree to disagree. Be blessed, brother. :)

When Even God gives up on us (Romans 1:26-2:1)

I guess I see clearly from all of scripture that all authority in the heavens and earth are His. He is not a God that wrings His hands when someone doesn't do what we think they should, and I don't know of anyone in scripture who God believed in and then gave up on. Whether or not they ended up...

When Even God gives up on us (Romans 1:26-2:1)

For the sake of brevity, I only quoted part of your response. Nowhere in anything you said did you offer support for your conclusion that God gave up on Pharoah. Using your logic to make this assumption doesn't demonstrate evidence. It doesn't even make sense to me. Hi Douglas. I'm not sure...

When Even God gives up on us (Romans 1:26-2:1)

I call it God using Pharoah to achieve His purpose, consistent with Romans 13:1. In order to give up on someone He'd have had to believe in him at one point and lost hope. That sounds like a whimsical god; not an omniscient God. Prov 16:2

    Has God ever spoken verbally?

K2, you are no more and no less guilty than others of doing this thing that you aught not do. I'm using your quote as an example. I hope you and others take heed. Do not suggest what you are suggesting with this comment. It should be assumed until it is said otherwise that other people...

    In My Opinion

I've shut this discussion down for discussion among the team. It might remain closed, be moved to a new forum, or even re-open here. Ideally, the Lounge Forum is intended to be for light-hearted fellowship. This isn't to say that there cannot be serious issues discussed, but usually these...

    Has God ever spoken verbally?

K2CHRIST I have a feeling you were that guy in school who wrote 40-page term papers when the teacher required 20. You and we would be well served if you tightened up your posts. :yes

    Judas Iscariot

To those who aren't, please remember to use scripture to support your claim or when refuting someone else's. See the rules for this forum in the sticky.

    psych meds for Christians

I appreciate the care and respect shown in this discussion. I cringed when I saw it, because I feared the inevitable condemnation that this topic usually draws from believers who have actually never dealt with depression, anxiety, etc. I haven't, but people whom I love have. People who deal with...

    your thanksgiving festivities

Thanksgiving starts Wednesday night with traditionally one of the most powerful and meaningful worship services of the year. You really have to be checked out Wednesday night if this service doesn't impact your Thursday. Two years ago, they out handed stones and sharpies on the way in. During...

    Speaking of Mothers & Daughters....

I could see positives in both approaches at this point in her life, so there may not be a "right way". What about a compromise? Have her pay you rent on time each month, imposing a penalty if she is late, but store it away for her first place of her own. This seems like it would achieve both of...

We are not saved by faith alone as Martin Luther inferred..... here is the Biblical evidence

I am giving this discussion a small breather for a day or two so that the participants can collect themselves. Too many good discussions get driven into the mud, reduced to back and forth accusations of others. No one answers questions, because both sides are digging their heals in the ground...

    new Firefox and Bookmarks

That's me, but FF was fun with its customization. I love tinkering with things and tweaking them. FF has a great concept of open-sourcing its development. Roro1972 I tried searching for bookmarks options posted in the last month, but I came up empty. This is the kind of thing my OCD would...

    new Firefox and Bookmarks

Roro, I can't answer your question, but if someone can address this as well, I'd appreciate it. Every time I've tried to get back into Firefox, I regret it and uninstall. Has Mozilla does anything about the cache and memory consumption Firefox amasses? I loved all the add-on's and...

We are not saved by faith alone as Martin Luther inferred..... here is the Biblical evidence

This reminds me that we should provide thoughtful responses to the discussion, lest we get removed from said discussion for not being thoughtful at all. I shouldn't have to remind the players here that it is incumbent of everyone to support their positions with scripture; not just force others...

is it normal to preach the gospel in the street? what are the benefits and consequences?

Have you been to a Lions game? Until we finally bailed this season, we had season tickets for decades. We'd park in a lot by Greek Town. For as long as I can recall, there was a guy with a beater pickup truck parked in the streat between Ford Field and Greek Town after games. He had nothing but...

We are not saved by faith alone as Martin Luther inferred..... here is the Biblical evidence

Wondering, I'm sorry to have added to your frustration. I said that I wasn't questioning your theology, because I knew you would never suggest these things. If I thought you were, I'd certainly be more than questioning your theology. It just seemed like you were taking Jesus' response at face...
