A New Twist On An Old Debate...Evolution

I had a thought. (Uh-oh!!) You know how the age of the earth is so debatable? 6000 years old or 13 billion years old and all like that? Gap theory, misunderstanding? I dunno.

But, correct me if I'm wrong here...The Lord created the heavens and the earth etc...but He also...stretched out the heavens too, am I right? Yes, it talks about that in Job and Psalms.

So the question: Could stretching out the heavens cause a time anomaly of the earth?

Is this a good question or am I all wet on this?

Try asking an evolutionist how it is that the background temperature of space is practically uniform, how is that possible when there has not been enough time for heat to have radiated from one sins of the universe to the other.

Then there is the faint sun paradox.

For Christian evolutionists, asks how they explain that death reigned from Adam, when Adam is the product of millions of years of death?

Did Jesus lie when he said man is from the begining of creation?
Is the ten commandments a lie for they teach a literal six day creation?

Does one read out of the Bible what is there or do we read into it what we want it to say?

It's a perfectly GOOD Question, but one that has no answer. There's no hard data, and TRUCKLOADS of "Religious opinions", all based on nothing.

Per einstien, time is relevant.

Time is the measurement between objects. For example, one day is measured by one rotation of the earth. If the rotation speeds up or slows down, it is still one day...24 hours.

cool - i heard something about time speeding up

also time did not start until God said let there be light imo

Interesting. Einstein says time slows as things go faster. Clocks on satellites orbiting the earth tick at a different rate than clocks on earth. They have to reset the clocks now and then so they are synchronized. Einstein also said neither matter nor energy can travel faster than the speed of light. Einstein's equations suggest that billions of years go by on an object at rest while only a day goes by on an object that is nearing the speed of light. However, astronomers say the universe expanded (the heavens stretched out) much faster than the speed of light. None of them can explain this, or what effect it might have on time.

Man knows only a miniscule fraction of what is going on out there. A very incomplete understanding.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 1 Corinthians 13:12 KJV

Yeah but Einstein was wrong about a couple things and knew it before his death. But others since have filled in the holes of his work. He wasn't all wrong, just a couple things.

I'm just thinking...man gets things wrong and has a hard time understanding things until they are shown to him. And I think it's possible that this stretching of the heavens, which is also confirmed by science that the universe is expanding...may have aspects to it that we do not fully understand yet.

And there sure is a lot of debate about the age of the earth. So maybe it somehow affected time in a way that would confound us as to how old everything really is.

I dunno. I'm reaching here!

I have herd the same thing. That time is going faster than it used to.

The speed of light is supposedly the limit of how fast anything is...and yet, I realized that there IS something that is faster than light! You know what it is?!

Darkness. When you flick on a light in a dark room...you can't see the darkness receding. It's just gone. Lol.

Good question, file it under flat earth society.......

I hear ya. I come up with some good ones sometimes, lol.

Those flat earth guys...they can actually make a pretty good case for their position. But I realized one day that I don't think they're right.

And the reason is....testimonies from believers. I've heard I don't know how many testimonies about people who were caught up in the spirit and taken above the earth...

Not one of them ever said, hey the earth is flat from above. That would be a pretty big thing to see and not mention it. Conclusion? The earth is spherical.

All you have to do is talk to ANY Airline Pilot, or any Professional sailor, to know that the whole "Flat earth idiocy" is a pipe dream. I've never heard ANY "Flat Earth" argument that holds water at all.

i asked a flat earther what happens when you sail to the edge of the flat earth which they say is shaped as a disk? - do you fall off the edge and end up in space? - they didn't answer me

back in 2010 there was a huge earthquake in Japan (8.8) that shortened the day by 1.26 millionths of a second. Not much but it was something. I guess the change in the crust effected the speed of rotation.

A fun thought experiment. What if the earth experienced many powerful earthquakes? Enough to split Pangaea apart quickly, and force all of the water held inside the mantle to the surface (which is 3 times the amount of that already on the surface of earth). To cause a massive extinction event. We would have 4 times as much water as we currently have on earth. On top of that if these earthquakes caused the earth to rotate fast enough we would see centripfugal force begin to overcome gravity and causing water to move away from the surface. It fair to say all life would cease to exist. The new abundance of water in the atmosphere would block most of the sun's rays probably making earth very cold.

Now what would be needed to fix this predictament for life to exist today? First if we would need to separate the water in the atmosphere from that on the surface sin. Slowing the earth's rotation should fix that leaving clouds and mist it would also bring the day night cycle back to a livable condition. Then we would need to push most of the water back into the mantle and melt any ice covering earth so we can get dry land. Then I guess we need to start creating life lol.

Like I said just a thought experiment.

Two questions here:
How do they know?
Who cares?

Lol

I think some of them are saying it is surrounded by a wall of ice. I think...

It has been discovered that the earth's rotation has been decreasing for a long time. Atomic clocks show that a modern-day is longer by about 1.7 milliseconds than a century ago. It is theorized that the tidal effects of the moon is what causes this.

That's interesting.
