"It"?
A hard time loving others?
I see no lack of love for others, but a disagreement or difference of opinion.
There would be no need to teach saved believers unless there was a need.
Romans 12:9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. 10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
I was once one of the "any man", but not anymore since my rebirth from God's seed.
In the parable of the Sower in Matthew 13:18-23, the 2 out of 3 that did receive the seed; hence salvation, were not fruitful as His disciples, but they did receive the seed, thus Him, which is salvation. For the 2 out of 3 that are not fruitful, discipleship is needed meaning correction or encouragement by scripture; but salvation is not needed, because they already know the gospel.
Yep, John using alternate verses to address those walking in light, juxtaposed with those walking in darkness.
Yet John testified to this truth;
1 John 2:My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
A good prayer, indeed, for the OT: but His prayer has been answered already so we don't need to repeat it over and over.
Since in context, Jesus is telling His disciples how not to pray, then this prayer to the Father is for believers after salvation since we are addressing Him as Father. Then He expounded on that prayer to His disciples with a warning.
Matthew 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. 8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
So the prayer Jesus taught to His disciples is a daily prayer for why that warning is relevant for any and every believer today.
Q...What is it they believe that provides accommodations for sin?
A...Every doctrine that is not of God.
Depends how you read the question. So let us rephrase.
Q What happens when a believer sins?
A 1 John 2:My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
I believe you meant;
Q Can a believer live in sin without repentance?
A No.
Romans 6:1What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?.... 11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. 12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. 13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. 15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. 16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? 17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. 18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. 19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to
uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so
now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
Uncleanness is masturbation or a wetting of oneself due to lust.
Jude 1:21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
22 And of some have compassion, making a difference: 23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. 24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
Paul feared over this still found in members in church at Corinth..
2 Corinthians 12:
20 For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults: 21 And lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and
have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed.
Hence Paul runs that race by faith in Jesus Christ to help him lay aside every weight & sin
daily for the crown and more importantly, not to become a castaway.
Hebrews 12:1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses,
let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
1 Corinthians 9
:24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. 25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things.
Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. 26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
Considering living in USA where sex appeal is hyped everywhere with lust & the pride of life as society's standard for outward appearance with public appeal & acceptance, a believer may very well have his or her guard down and unwittingly follow the world.
When Christians think of persecution in foreign countries, they do not consider the spiritual persecution and fiery trials that can befall them here in USA.
James did warn this for believers in the world.
James 1:
12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. 13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
Hopefully you can see the importance now for how we are to run that race daily not to obtain salvation, but the crown as firstfruits to avoid becoming a castaway. When we continue reading James words as led by the Spirit...
James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. 18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth,
that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
