Another Gospel?

That salvation is through faith in Jesus Christ apart from obedience to the law is the doctrine of justification by faith.

How can a person both affirm and deny this doctrine?
We are justified by faith.
We are sanctified by obedience to God.

2 Timothy 2:21
Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.

1 Corinthians 1:2
To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours:

1 Peter 1:2
According to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you.

We are justified by faith (Romans 5:1-2)...agree or disagree?
Before you can be justified by faith, you must be justified by Christ. Jesus justifies us by fulfilling the law and atoning for our sins. There is no justification unless God see us "In Christ".

The term "justification by faith" is to vague. I say by faith in what?

One cannot be justified by Christ apart from faith...which would preclude that we are justified by faith in Christ.

My question is. Faith in what? Faith in your righteousness? Faith in the Catholic church? How does Jesus justify the ungodly? Romans 4:5. Who are the ungodly?

What does this mean? The entire world has been justified by Christ's sacrifice. All anyone has to do is accept that Jesus paid the price for their sins -- all sins.

That is what "justification by faith" means.

Sometimes I don't even understand what Robert Pate is stating.

You're right, of course.
1 John 2:2
John 3:16

Jesus is the savior of the whole world. "The Father sent the Son to be the savior of the world" 1 John 4:14.

As far as God is concerned Jesus has victoriously defeated sin, death and the devil. The whole world has ALREADY been reconciled unto God, 2 Corinthians 5:18-19. So that now, "Whosoever that shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved" Romans 10:13.

Jesus died for the whole world.
But the whole world is not reconciled to God.

Jesus died for the whole world.
But the whole world is not reconciled to God.

Do you know what reconciled means?
There are two sides to reconciliation. The one that extends the offer of reconciliation and the one that accepts the offer of reconciliation. Jesus as our representative has reconciled us and the world unto God. In our name and on our behalf, Jesus has fulfilled as of the demands of God's Holy Law, Matthew 5:18. In our name and on our behalf, Jesus has atoned for our sins and the sins of the whole world, 1 John 2:2. God now sees all that have accepted the offer of reconciliation are perfect and complete in Christ, Colossians 2:10. Have you been reconciled unto God?

Jesus died for the whole world.
But the whole world is not reconciled to God.

Do you know what reconciled means?
But the whole world is reconciled to God.

Reconciliation, in Christian theology, is an element of salvation that refers to the results of atonement. Reconciliation is the end of the estrangement, caused by original sin, between God and humanity.

Reconciliation is the end of the estrangement, caused by original sin, between God and humanity. By Jesus' sacrifice the entire world is reconciled to its maker. All sin has been paid for. All anyone has to do is accept Jesus' sacrifice on their behalf. God has done His part. The rest is up to people.

Romans 5:6-11, "For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. Indeed, rarely will anyone die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person someone might actually dare to die. But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us. Much more surely, therefore, since we have now been justified by his blood, will we be saved through him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more surely, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life. But more than that, we even boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation."

Happy Easter to everyone!

You are a breath of fresh air.

Because of the doing and the dying of Jesus God is at peace with the world, Colossians 1:20. This is the age of faith and grace. In the judgment the sheep will be separated from the goats.

No such thing as the age of faith and grace.

God certainly isn’t at peace with the world.

Christian’s who are entangled with the world are enemies of God.

Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. James 4:4

That really does not answer the question. What is the Gospel according to your understanding?
That Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, was buried, and rose again the third day according to the scriptures; even as it is proclaimed in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.

(btw, it did answer the question)

No.....God's wrath is upon all men who are outside of Christ.

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Men must be saved from sins reign , saved from sin before they are declared righteous or reconciled.
