Hi Paul1965; really great to see you around here again!

I see; well, I think you said that it was your faith based tattoo linked with your Christian life that made her interested in the first place to read the Bible. Maybe would another faith based design about something that would be meaningful in testimony to her, also have a similar effect as previously, do you think?

You may have said also that she is tattooed herself, right.

Blessings.

from mygraine: "The area in which I live, >16000 people, has five tattoo shops. Of the five, three are owned by women, of those three, two are owned and operated by Christians. So the thought of Christian women with tattoos is just how it is. My wife is no longer intimidated by the whole dark alley tat shop scene. When the artist is a Christian woman, it makes it more accessible for other Christian women."

Everyone has likes and dislikes and is completely entitled to them.

Like tattoos or not, the basic facts which mygraine states here are hard to challenge.

(Two cents'.)

So many, many people have tattoos now.I do not think we should judge a person by their tattoos.God knows their heart.

You are absolutely right, Ms Kathi. From earnest preachers' daughters going away to college, through young men in the military to grandmothers: all might even have a motive for getting faith based tattoo designs, even to a simple Christian fish sign <>< .

It's not for everyone.

I think we have probably come even a stage further from what you've said, true though it is.

Today many Christians wish to use the means positively as a means of witness, since a faith based tattoo is a well proven conversation-starter. And in any case it's incontrovertible that, although it was once mainly a male thing, women have firmly achieved tattoo equality. (If any of this make sense?)

I see tatoos that are pretty scary :neutral.I think if someone told me I had to get a tattoo I would get one of a cross or of a Christian theme.

Ms Kathi:

Well, of course we should make a distinction between the medium and the content: the varied content of tattoos can be good, bad or indifferent. (There is some brilliant artwork out there, mind.)

And of course no-one is telling you that you 'ought' to get a tattoo; it's entirely — entirely! — a matter for the person him- or herself, naturally.

What you say as well is very apt: '...I would get one of a cross or of a Christian theme': faith based ones are increasingly popular and they certainly preach well, as conversation-starters.

And again, what you said earlier is very apt as well: 'So many, many' have tattoos now.

I hope this all kind of makes sense...

Blessings.

PS: Paul1965; Ms Kathi. Also, I talked a while ago to a guy who had John 3.16 tattooed on his arm: it was the tattoo that made me speak with him and I'm sure I have not been the only person. He had the whole verse done - must have taken a long while - but I would have thought that to remain effective even just the reference 'John 3.16' in suitable lettering can be effective also as a conversation-starter.

I was blessed enough to meet a couple volunteer workers at the youth center I work at and one of them was quite "tatted up" ...the ones that were faith based...you could tell....he had a special connection to.

Navigator's point, discussed above, about the Christian volunteer worker with faith based tattoos is a bit similar to Ms. Kathi's point, I suppose, in that, with some Christians, their design choice — even just small ones — may be a sort of window on their heart: a kind of refreshing heart-beat to be of testimony in a very relevant and hugely widespread ink medium.

I have considered one before. I don't have anything against them. My wife even has 2 of them. I like what some have said about them being an opportunity to witness.

jeff77: This is true what you said, back a bit.

So are hers faith based in design? and do you know if she's considering any more? (Seems like you yourself are still thinking about it.)

Blessings.

No, hers are a unicorn and a rose. My wife got the tattoos a long time ago when she was into spiritualism. Im going to ask her when she gets home if she plans on getting another and what would it be. I havent thought about it in a while now probably because of money.

Would yours be faith based if you did it, maybe?

It would be for sure because if I am going to put something permenant on it would be a big commitment and I guess something that important should be used for God's glory. I don't know exactly what it would be, maybe you could help me out. I am a former drug addict and have been looking and praying for a way to witness to show other addicts how the Lord set me free from it.

Well, it has to come from you, not anyone else.

The best testimony to having been delivered from sin is a changed life! :)

That being said, some Christian tattoo designs are proven to be effective conversation starters, and they don't have to be big. The Christian fish sign <>< is very simple, for instance.

Then there is the question of placement; do you have any preferences?

Blessings.

Just a word to finish up.. the only one that will get pleasure from a person getting a tattoo is the same one that got pleasure from what happened in the garden of Eden..

What if a Scripture based design leads to an unbeliever talking about and considering the Gospel?
