Coronavirus

Construction will be shut down, all entertainment venues, not sure about mechanics and tow trucks...
Schools, libraries, information services...bye bye.

Pillsbury/ Yoplait, the meat processing plants, Dean Foods, and paper mills are all going 90 to nothing...
Shops close early .my second job cut hours ,Sam's,Wal-Mart won't sell tires

Well right now there are rumors of being on a two week lockdown for our state. However, I have yet to see any official news on this so I'm hoping that they're only rumors. The grocery stores better not shut down no matter what. Otherwise the crime rate is going to escalate big time.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Update.

China
Total cases: 80,967
New cases: 0 (once again)

Italy
Total cases: 47021
New cases: 5986

Did some research...
I found out that Construction trades are considered "Essential Services" meaning that I won't be forced to shut down...ever. we are like the food industry... gotta have us and truck drivers.

So all us Blue collar guys and gals go to work...all the white collar guys and ladies either work from home or are shut down.

Looks like Ohio has its first reported death. :sad My thoughts and prayers go towards their friends and family members. :pray I heard that everything except for gas stations, grocery stores, and medical buildings are supposed to be closing soon as well. Again, right now a lot of it is just a bunch of hearsay so who knows? :shrug

this is getting really, really intense. I'm beginning to suspect that once this pandemic is (praying, hoping) contained, we'll all be left with a new type of government, not simply a different President. I read an article by a libertarian, sounding the alarm about more and more government power. I dunno. The conservative factions seem really concerned about the (re)emergence of a strong safety net. and yet...

everybody's a socialist during a pandemic.

other than that, I'm hoping IV vitamin C gets some data behind it for covid-19. generally non-toxic, fairly well tolerated, can be supplemented with inexpensive, readily available vitamins at home...

but I'm thinking its a lot more likely that it will be more prescription$ for everybody, which...hey, do what works. :)

The fakestream media drives it.

Talking about more and more government power that is correct. Look how easy it is for government to take away basic rights in time of panic, some governments just banned freedom of assembly, no more than X amount of people can gather together.

my dear older, wiser, Christian friend's son -might- have it. the labs are busy, the test results won't be in till Monday at the earliest. in the meantime....

codeine cough syrup, self-isolation. :-(

I know a couple of people in isolation just because they come back from overseas. Odds are high they don't have anything, they not even sick, but they are still forced to self isolate against there free choice, the government said they are not allowed near other people.

Everything is always based on a maybe but not a guarantee . You cannot do this or that because maybe this could happen. Well most probably not as well.

That's how rights get stripped.

Best place the onion under the sausage on the bread, not on top because a bit might fall on the ground and someone could slip over. If they are not watching where they are going and check there own surrounding and slip on onion then it's always someone else's fault, who ate the sausage and bread.

I dunno. I'm all about the safety net, but it seems that the government will take more control. Within the velvet glove is the iron fist, I suppose.

First confirmed case here today. People are going crazy. Lots of traffic for a small city that rarely gets bad traffic. People are panicking and rushing to the store for more supplies. Still can't get tp and still glad we have some. Not sure what is up with my folks, communications aren't working to well. Getting a little worried.

...China and not a single new case for a while. How is China so immune.

China quarantined infected people, and made everyone else walk around in masks just in case. This defeated 19. The town of Vo in Italy tested all citizens, and quarantined everybody infected (3% of the population). Vo defeated 19 too.

Italy is not testing all citizens, so they have no idea who is infected. They can't quarantine the infected if they don't know who they are. 19 runs rampant.

The official number for the USA is now 19,774. However, epidemiologists estimate that there are actually millions of Americans infected. The official number goes up by hundreds each day as people with severe symptoms and essential personnel are tested. America doesn't have masks to give their citizens like China did, and they don't have enough tests to find the million who are infected, so they are telling everyone to stay 6 feet apart. There is an incubation period of 2 days to 27 days before symptoms occur. People are contagious before symptoms occur, so just isolating people who cough or have a fever isn't getting the job done. In addition to the incubation period, there is often another 2 to 3 weeks for the symptoms to resolve once they manifest. Its a long period of time when people are potentially contagious.

They either need to test every single citizen to find out who is infected, or quarantine every single citizen to defeat 19. At least until vaccines and treatments are developed. Italy is doing neither of these, so there are hundreds of new cases every day.

They are called human rights violations. You cannot force everyone to wear a mask on there face against there choice, and you cannot force everyone to take a test against there choice. And even if there was a vaccine you cannot force people to be stabbed with a needle and injected with a substance against there choice.

My wife had that same attitude when facing mandatory flu vaccination at her job.
She eventually capitulated.
This year the flu shot wasn't very effective at stopping the flu. Only about 50% worth.

Children aren't allowed in schools unless they have gotten their immunizations.
Children must attend schools or be home schooled.

I was the last generation to get smallpox inoculation. (Inoculations are different than vaccines) my scar is very very faint.
I'm not sure if they are still doing polio inoculation or have derived a vaccine.
Polio was the disease the March of Dimes was built over.
