One frequent trouble a man of God might run into, the 'worlf' /false prophet/teacher may be running the show like they did in Ephesians after Paul left.

When the man of God exposes them, identifies them, the man of God may get kicked out instead of them.

I dunno. I think that on some level they know. Could they be so far into the darkness that they might actually think that the Lord would fall for such a line? Or that they were actually doing good?

When I do something wrong, or handle something poorly...I know it on some level. Don't we all?

No. To start with, perhaps God has granted everyone a conscience, and at first everyone feels the 'conviction' if they do wrong.
But most people keep over and over and over again seering their conscience until it has nothing left in it --- and God gives them over to believe the lie - they actually do believe the delusion is true.
So be careful in Christ Jesus with your conscience. Guard the truth, secure it, and get it at all cost(in God's Plan).

Remmber it is written that "they" (some) will murder the saints, all the while believing they are actually doing God a favor in doing so. That is how far they are deceived, and God permits it.

No. The wolves Jesus referenced were doing great things apparently. Once the conscience falls out of line with God it takes Godly repentance to retrieve it.

the examples are many, but what effect will knowing have? how will anyone benefit or be helped in the body of Christ ?

whatever /wherever you may go to listen to preaching, the worlves are usually on stage, not in the audience. either the main character or one of the visiting characters up there. whatever the teachings or doctrines are that you expect, these same ones will be repeated, sometimes with changes, sometimes not, all in order to get power and control over you. they want you to believe them, to follow them, to do what they say, and especially remember to give your offering or tithe or "special blessing".

very similar, almost no different at times, from a "real" service --- only the one steering changes, and the "passengers" are taken for a ride, whether they know it or not, sometimes for years or even decades !

then a prophet is raised up. (by God).

that's when the real fireworks start.

Are you saying there's no advantage for believers in knowing that a doctrine is false ? Yahweh gave people who would guide and protect the Saints

and even with that warning, they did - the believers did not stop it from happening. so too today. Yes, Jesus said the world is blind, stupid , pernicious (death dealing), and naked; and He said the (wolves, deceivers, false prophets, etc) , will put to death the true followers of Jesus ------ all the while BELIEVING THAT THEY ARE DOING GOD A FAVOR ! (i.e. they have no idea they are wicked and opposed to life and opposed to truth and already judged )

What better way for satan to get someone to do what he wants ? A Christian will fight tooth and nail for something if they think it's for Jesus. The clue comes though in their capacity to endure imo.

A wolfs doctrine would be anything that is taught as a theory of one using their own thought patterns that twist and manipulates the word of God in order to back up their man made theories that have been taught traditionally down through the generations. The biggest example would be that of the various end time teachings as you see the controversy in the various teachings as one picks and chooses various verses to back themselves up with, but neglect the whole of what the chapter is speaking of or even studying for themselves. The same with the various teachings on salvation and baptism as one does not study the whole for themselves, but would rather rely on man to teach them. How do we know what is truth or what is error is by testing the spirits that speak, 1John 4:1-6 and learn to discern by allowing the Holy Spirit teach us all things, John 14:26.

Mat 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
If the elect of God knows truth by that of the Holy Spirit teaching them then it would be impossible to deceive them. It is those who lack knowledge and understanding that will fall prey to the wolf in sheep's clothing.
