Does The Bible Teach There Is A Second Chance In The Afterlife To Be Saved By Jesus?

Incorrect. I proved how impossible your interpretation is.

Christ's illustrated how wrong they would be when false prophets claimed Christ's presence had invisibly happened, but only those the "anointed gurus" could see it. .

26 "Therefore if they say to you,`Look, He is in the desert!' do not go out; or`Look, He is in the inner rooms!' do not believe it.
27 "For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. (Matt. 24:26-27 NKJ)

Jehovah's Witnesses are clear targets of Christ's words.

The "anointed" of their Society claim only they could know Christ's coming happened in 1914. It requires "spiritual eyes" they alone have. They say Christ "entered the inner rooms" in 1914, moving from one place in heaven to another, that was His "coming presence" (parousia). Its effects are seen on earth like "lightning".

But you don't need a prophet to reveal Christ's coming, because everyone will see it just as lightning flashing in the sky is visible to everyone:

The sky will LIGHT UP the sky that everyone on earth will see it, EVEN the dead in Hell will see it, including that soldier who speared Him:

Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen. (Rev. 1:7 NKJ)

Its easy to understand the Bible. Put away all your ideas about what the words say, and read to learn what they say. Read it repeatedly until you understand the context. The "who what where why when . Who is speaking, what is He saying, where was He speaking, why was He speaking, when will what He says happen."

You didn't do that. You overlayed your interpretation on the verse. You emphasized something you thought was in the text, and then couldn't see how wrong you are, just like these blind guides:

16 "Woe to you, blind guides, who say, `Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obliged to perform it.'
17 "Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold? (Matt. 23:16-17 NKJ)
1 Corinthians 3:18-20
Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, "He catches the wise in their own craftiness"; and again, "The LORD knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile."

Yes, you were caught, exposed. We don't need your "wisdom" to understand Christ, or see His coming. It will as visible as lightning.

Especially read what happens to the "false prophets" dismissing His teaching His coming will be as visible as lightning:

23 "Then if anyone says to you,`Look, here is the Christ!' or`There!' do not believe it.
24 "For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
25 "See, I have told you beforehand.
26 "Therefore if they say to you,`Look, He is in the desert!' do not go out; or`Look, He is in the inner rooms!' do not believe it.
27 "For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
28 "For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together. (Matt. 24:23-28 NKJ)

Christ's return will be seen and experienced by all on earth:

Not only is it visible as lightning, Christ will visibly slaughter the false prophets who claimed it wasn't as visible as lightning, everyone will see carrion birds circling
their slain carcass at Armageddon and everywhere they are found:

11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.
12 His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself.
13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.
15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
17 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, "Come and gather together for the supper of the great God,
18 "that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small and great."
19 And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army.
20 Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.
21 And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. And all the birds were filled with their flesh. (Rev. 19:11-20:1 NKJ)

Hi,

Matthew 24:27 Does not say He will come as visible as lightening; please try to refrain from inserting context into scripture that isn’t in scripture, as this is dangerous for both you and those who blindly read and accept it as truth.

Scripture reads,
“For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.” Matthew‬ ‭24‬:‭27‬ ‭ESV‬‬

And verse 37-39 of this chapter reads, “For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.”

The emphasis here isn’t on that which is visible to the human eye, but quite the opposite. The lightening signifies the speed in which His second coming will take place. It will happen fast in an unexpected manner; “like a thief in the night” here one second, gone the next.

Luke 17:24-27 is a helpful cross reference for this passage if you wish to better understand it.
Christian charity requires I offer the tools needed to prevent future blindness to the obvious teaching of Christ.

I already mentioned reading the verses above and below the target text to know what is being said in context.

Anther helpful tool, especially when the "prophets" versed at deception are so common today, claiming a particular text means something not immediately apparent to others.

We take the suggested meaning and put it in the verse, then read it outloud to see if it fits the context:

You claim Christ cited lightning to teach His coming will be "speedy like a thief in the night".

Therefore, with that meaning added Scripture reads:

“For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man be "speedy like a thief in the night.”

Thieves in the night usually take their time to steal everything they can, speedy doesn't first come to mind when we think of "thieves in the night".

Also, its impossible to see "speedy theives" in the sky like lightning, the association is absurd.

Therefore, your eisegesis is incorrect, Christ didn't cite lightning shining in the sky from east to west, to talk about speed. Its the flashing light, its visibility to everyone that is the point.

So I’m a false prophet for saying the emphasis on the specific verse you posted wasn’t on the visibility but the speed in which it would occur? Makes sense.

Woefully deranged.

So I’m a false prophet for saying the emphasis on the specific verse you posted wasn’t on the visibility but the speed in which it would occur? Makes sense.
You put yourself in the league of False Prophets because Christ spoke against the false prophets who denied His coming is as visible as lightning shining in the sky:

24 "For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
25 "See, I have told you beforehand.
26 "Therefore if they say to you,`Look, He is in the desert!' do not go out; or`Look, He is in the inner rooms!' do not believe it.

28 "For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together. (Matt. 24:24-28 NKJ)

The false prophets who deny Christ's coming is as visible as lightning will personally demonstrate how visible it was when carrion birds gather eating their slain carcasses.

Woefully deranged.
What precisely was "deranged": "completely unable to think clearly or behave in a controlled way, especially because of mental illness."-Cambridge Dictionary.

Change the color of the "deranged words" to red font, and explain how its "deranged":

Another helpful tool, especially as the "prophets" versed at deception are so common today who claim a particular text means something that is not immediately apparent to other readers.

Insert the suggested meaning into the verse, then read it out-loud to see if it fits the context:

For example:

You claim Christ cited lightning to teach His coming will be "speedy like a thief in the night".

We'll put your interpretation into the text and discern if it contradicts anything Christ said in the context"

“For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man be "speedy like a thief in the night.”

Thieves in the night usually take their time to steal, speedy doesn't first come to mind when we think of "thieves in the night".

Thieves in the night makes us think of 'being surprised, caught unaware, of us being unprepared."

So the simile you propose is "confused", doesn't imply "speedy" to most people.

Also, lightning shining from east to west lighting up the sky doesn't make anyone think of "speedy thieves in the night".

Therefore, the association of speed and thieves in the night, to explain lightning shining east to west, seems irrational.

Connecting the dots from how visible lightning implies "speedy thieves in the night" seems impossible for a sane person.

Therefore, the eisegesis you propose is incorrect, Christ didn't cite lightning shining in the sky from east to west, to talk about speedy appearing like a thief in the night, no one seeing Him.

He cites lightning lighting up the sky, to illustrate how visible His coming will be to everyone on earth as the thunder and commotion causes them to look up.

Like vultures gathered to feast on the carcasses of false prophets, it will be very visible.

God bless you.
If its not "deranged", you should apologize.

Also beg forgiveness from God, Christ in particular for twisting His words.

Then learn sound principles of interpretation before you get yourself in further trouble:

My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment. (Jas. 3:1 NKJ)

I thank God for providing this forum to exchange ideas. Various objections to my thesis made me realize I made a fundamental error, not explaining first there are no second chances for the willfully wicked. Or those who rejected the gospel in full knowledge they were rejecting God.

Accordingly, I added this "end note" to the Title of my blog post at my site:

Only a fool would deceive himself saying, "I'll sin now and be forgiven later."

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. (Gal. 6:7 NKJ cp. 1 Cor. 6:7; Jer. 23:19-32)

Its far better to believe in Christ "in this life" than take the chance God may not grant second chance because you had sufficient knowledge and opportunity to believe.

No enemy of God or willfully wicked will get a second chance. Jesus explained this when He says "he who is not with Me is against Me" (Mt. 12:30). Only those ignorant of God in Christ will be forgiven sins against Him. There is no forgiveness for knowingly opposing God in this age or the age to come (Mt. 12:31-32).

Moreover, only a fool prefers a pointless life of vanity where nothing satisfies, than a life of Joy in fellowship with the Holy Spirit and God the Father and God the Son Jesus Christ.

28 "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." (Matt. 11:28-30 NKJ)

This is worth more than life itself.

44 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
45 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls,
46 "who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it. (Matt. 13:44-46 NKJ)

Nothing I wrote implies Christ was inaccurate when He said the Rich Man was in "torments."

23 "And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 "Then he cried and said,`Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.'
25 "But Abraham said,`Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. (Lk. 16:23-25 NKJ)

Many who die will be in Hell from that time forward, until after the 1,000-year millennial kingdom of Christ. Not released until the Great White Throne Judgment (Rev. 20:7-15).

Do you really want to take that chance?

Remember, Hell is not paradise. That is among the biggest understatements a man has ever made.
