False Teaching - Word of Faith

mhess13 said:
again, i dont defend everything done or said by certain teachers. but please, please keep in mind that anything you watch on secular media will be skewed to make faith teachers look as bad as possible. you'll only get a one sided set up job. just like when dan rather ran the special on homeschoolers who homeschool to keep their abused kids out of the public eye.... as a result of that some fellow christians started raising an eyebrow toward homeschooler. AAARRRRHHHH

i guess i'm a mess. i go to a word church AND i homeschool my kids. radical fundamentalism combine w/ extreme faith doctrine!!! OOOHHHHHHH
CALL SOCIAL SERVICES
Hahaha! *dialing* I admire those who choose to homeschool. And again, I will emphasize my beef is with Benny. I respect you for wanting to be in the WOF, but I pray you use discretion in everything you see and believe. That goes for ALL of us. Remember, once you get something into your head, it is almost impossible to get it out.

btw, VIC
i've never heard any wof teacher, including benny hinn ever claim THEY heal, the credit is always given to Jesus, He is always magnified and honored. hinn is always careful to give the glory to Jesus, i've heard his rebuke people for saying that he healed them. he makes it clear that he is a willing vessel that God uses to bring healing to the sick

btw -- i'm not a big hinn fan, i dont care for his style, his bad suits, and he's said some things he probably wishes he could take back.
but he's human like the rest of us, not a damnable heretic
Mat 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Glad to hear you are not a fan.

i hear you. and be assured i don't believe everything from wof teachers, or ANY teachers. there's several things that bro. hagin taught that i disagree with. there's been on occasion a thing or 2 that r.c. sproul has taught that i do agree with. no one denomination or doctrine has all the truth. i'm drawn to wof because of the literal interpretation of the bible and the daring to believe God's word is true and his promises are yea and amen. wof believes God is good, a good heavenly father. i come from a pentecostal denomination, my wife was methodist, but the people didnt have the kind of faith to dare to believe god's word like i've seen in wof churches.

The Jesus of the WOF teachers is not the Christ of the Bible.

The salvation message of faith teachers is another Gospel.

According to WOF teachers jesus's death on the cross was not sufficient for our salvation! According to them Jesus had to die spiritually and suffer in Hell.

This contradicts the plain teaching of scripture.

WOF teachers tell us that Jesus became a "Satanic Being" when He died on the cross!

WOF teachers tell us that it is a sin to be poor!

One WOF teachers even proclaimed that God had shown him that if he had the wealth of knowledge of scripture as Christ had then he could have been Messiah !

WOF teachers tell us that we don't have a god we ARE gods!

WOF teachers tell us that we are in every way incarnations of the Word of God, thus we are Immanuel!

The teachings of these men and women will definately poison your soul and lead you to destruction!

oh please, spare us.... nothing original here, just the same venom hanegraaf and john macarther spew out daily...

actually, even macarthur in all of his ranting and raving has never said this...

Can you show me some of this venom spewed out daily?

:o "Man is a spirit who possesses a soul and lives in a body...., He is in the same class with God. ...We know that God is a Spirit. And yet [He] took upon Himself a man's body....when God took upon Himself human form, He was no less God than when He didn't have a body. :o Forget your church. (Robert Tilton, Success in Life, recorded 3/4/91)

:o Do not say "Lord if it be thy will". (Robert Tilton, Success in Life, recorded 12/14/91)

:o God has 9 parts (tri-theistic).
  • A. God has a body, soul and spirit.
    B. Jesus has a body, soul and spirit.
    C. Holy Spirit has a body, soul and spirit.
(Benny Hinn, Benny Hinn broadcast, recorded 10/13/90)
(NOTE: Allegedly Hinn later recanted this ascertion, but his view of the Godhead is still unclear.)

:o Christians are little messiahs. Christians are little gods. (Benny Hinn, Praise-a-thon (TBN), recorded November 1990)

The above is 'venom' and a great example of how NOT to do theology.

Um Jason, I think Job was speaking of the 'venom' spewed out by Hank and John.

I agree with Jason, the WOF teachings are spiritual Venom.

Prosperity gospel is no Gospel:-
1Ti 6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

They suppose that material gain is a godly thing!

They need to read about the heroes of faith spoken of in Hebrews 11 who lived in caves and dens, woar skins, were destitute etc.

You got it Vic, I should have been more clear though. It probably needed to be reposted anyways. Jason, I'm on your side on this one.

mhess13, I heard Hannegraff say on his radio program just last week that he is often asked, and accepts speaking engagments for Pentecostal assemblies and he also said he has many friends who are Pentecostals. He went on to say that he still disagrees with some of their teachings. I was still shocked a bit. I only say this because you seem to be clumping pentecostals and WOF together a little. Hank doesn't hate Charismatics/Pentecostals. but WOF is a bit more extreme than they are, don't you agree?

Macarthur doesn't devote his life too prove WOF teachings are wrong to the Word of God, he spends time on Catholics too lol, and just about everyone if he disagrees with them. Even Dobson from "Focus on the family" has had disagreements with him. Actually this is a small part of his ministry, it's just what he is mostly known for. mhess13, if you would like to see Macarthurs complete work, that is , sermons, bible studies and so on for your self, check out this link below. He can be a little forward some times, but that's why I like him, he gets right to the point and gives lots of scripture. you'll see he is not as bad as some would have you beleive.

mhess13, I went to a Pentecostal church for some time and they even thought Benny Hinn was to be avoided. But they allowed Joyce Meyers. ???
I never could figure that one out. Anyways, most of the stuff that gets these WOF teachers into trouble is their own words, wouldn't you agree?

God bless
Job

WOF is a worldly teaching, no wondering is growing. I do believe that a diligent Christian lifestyle will lead a believer to store more then they may need, but that is all the better to help those who need it. Not for the 100,000 car for the hubby. (Joyce Meyer's husband drives a 100,000 dollar car.)

Any reports I read and any visuals I see concernind these WOlFs in Sheeps clothing has come through Biblical sources, and/or the WOlFs themselves!

last year Benny Hinn came to my City. It was an appauling sight to see hundreds of people being made to stand outside in the pouring rain being turned away.

One man died in his seat during the meeting, several others were carried away in ambulances for emergency treatment.

My wife counselled one young woman who came out of the meeting in tears as she had been made to feel humiliated by people around her.

I witnessed people being separated from their loved ones.

The police were not happy at all by the whole situation of the crowd and the owners of the arena stated that they would not be entertaining Benny Hinn again.

Mr Hinn's body guards (Big burley WWE types) tried to have protesters, who were standing peacefully outside the gates, removed by the Police. The Police, however, refused.

Here is something I found on Joyce Meyers, It was written by a charismatic. I noticed over the years that many people who stand against the WOF teaching somehow at the same time accept Joyce Meyers teaching as biblical. Maybe they are not aware of the similarities.

A quote from the above link

"3) 1 do not take Mrs. Meyer out of context or twist her words. My experience has been that in any attempt to defend such teachers, most Charismatics put words in the mouths of their mentors rather than face up to solid, word-for-word quotations. The blade cuts both ways, I will not read into what is said nor will I allow others to interpret plain statements to mean things other than what was intended by the speaker/writer.
4) 1 am not an "anti-Charismatic." I was led to the Lord by watching The 700 Club, belonged to Grace World Outreach Center (now called Grace Church-St, Louis) for a couple of years, and then belonged to Life Christian Center for 8 years or so. All these ministries are local Charismatic ministries and I love these folks dearly.
5) 1 am not "attacking" Charismatics, I'm "responding" to their attacks upon the body of Christ. All cults cry, "You're attacking us." Ain't so. Those who proclaim and believe damnable doctrines of demons had better get used to good Christian folks responding to their attacks upon our faith. It's not only a good defense of the faith, it's biblical! In fact, one of my favorite pastors, Chuck Smith of Calvary Chapel, is a Charismatic and he is very vocal in his opposition to the heresies within the Word/Faith Charismatic movement.
6) The most popular charge is that this type of criticism is "unloving and divisive." I Corinthians 13:6,7 says that love "rejoices with the truth" and "always protects." It is very loving to protect someone from a damnable lie that masquerades as the truth. And about division, are we to unite with cultists or remain separate from them?"

Remember, this is coming from a charismatic, who probably hates John Macarthur.

God bless
Job

Thanks Job. That was a good read.

From the same site...this applies to the topic at hand as well.....
7) "Judge not lest you be judged!" Matthew 7: 1. In verse 15 Jesus warns us to "watch out for false prophets." How can we evaluate whether or not someone is a false prophet unless we use some degree of judgment? Jesus was speaking about judging self righteously and hypocritically. Paul tells us in I Corinthians 5:3, "And I have already passed judgment on the one who did this.." (New International Version) And in verse 12 he states, "Are you not to judge those inside [the church]. Judging in a biblical manner is the result of discernment.
(emphasis mine)

How anyone can support the heresies of Joyce Meyer I don't know!

How anyone can support the heresies of Joyce Meyer I don't know!

She has an appeal to young woman, and middle aged too for that matter.

Here is how it works, did you ever see smokey and the bandit? Benny Hinn is the bandit who takes all the heat and distracts everyone, and Joyce is the truck that's delivering the goods going unnoticed. Maybe not by design (on their part), but that's how her teaching goes mostly unnoticed. There's always bigger fish to fry.
