No, I am not talking about old laws that are still on the books. The ones that everybody ignores anyway because they are never enforced. Not talking about State Laws in Massachusetts, Virginia, Georgia, Idaho, Mississippi, North Carolina, Utah or South Carolina, where it’s still against the written law for unmarried men and women to engage in sexual intercourse.
Not talking man's law at all but I hope that you also notice with me the phrase "still against the law" up there. As if to say that the law against fornication is outdated or that it has no merit. It used to be that everybody understood the state's interest in families and the basis for the law. Today? People simply shrug while they wait for the lawmakers to "get with the times".
The word "illegal" means "against the law". This has not changed. Anything that goes against any law is 'illegal'. The term may even be used in sports, for example, an "illegal pass" is a play that breaks the agreed upon rules. But these days what it may not mean is "against God's laws". That's because we no longer agree that God has the right to make any rules. Ask yourselves if we were supposed to vote to remove and/or change the 'outdated laws' or 'old moral codes' how would you stand on the issue?
Laws in Florida, Michigan and Mississippi make it illegal for the unmarried to “lewdly and lasciviously associate and cohabit together.” What do you think? Is there any possibility that we may ever return to 'One nation, under God"? Will there ever be a time when we, as a society, are able to enact righteousness? Or will we prefer the comfort of pretense and go forward unwilling to change?
