Hell is eternal with final proof!

It's odd in that I have always been inclined to interpret much of Jesus' quotes as parables, not to be taken literally. This is one of the relative few admonitions in which I think he was being absolutely literal.

No it's not literal. Read post 11.

Is Jerusalem still burning today?

Do you know what idiomatic language is.

Isa 47:14, Malachi 4:1, Malachi 4:3, Psalm 37:20

None of those passages have anything to do with hell/lake of fire.

I respectfully disagree that the lost do not perish in hell.

No the lost will perish in hell, the lost are nonbelievers. Believers are the one's that are found.

One of the members made this statement: "the lost do not perish in hell" being that kind of a statement that makes Jesus out to be a liar i looked it up "who said the lost do not perish in hell" the rest of you should put that question into a search engine and see what comes up...

Granted jocor its as if there's a special level of torment for those of that time period, kind of makes a person wonder what level the ones that nailed Jesus to the cross will be at or the level the one that pierced him doesn't it.. I'm thinking there are different levels depending on the judgment and I'm thinking they are all terrifying..

Isa 66:22-24 and Mark 9:43-48 are using Idiomatic language. Mark 9:43-48 is proof that Gehenna is eternal.

Mark 9:43-48 If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out. [44]b 45And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. [46]c 47And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, 48where “ ‘the worms that eat them do not die, and the fire is not quenched.’

Isa. 66:22-24 "For as the new heavens and the new earth that I make shall remain before me, says the LORD, so shall your offspring and your name remain. 23 From new moon to new moon, and from Sabbath to Sabbath, all flesh shall come to worship before me, declares the LORD. 24 "And they shall go out and look on the dead bodies of the men who have rebelled against me. For their worm shall not die, their fire shall not be quenched, and they shall be an abhorrence to all flesh."
I Corinthians 13:12-13
You guys have done gone off into a deep subject that we are having trouble seeing.

I have some issues lately that are keeping me from swinging from chandillers, so maybe I can make a few comments.

Your "For as the new heavens and the new earth that I make shall remain before me, says the LORD, so shall your offspring and your name remain":
Shall remain? Off in the future it is created, and off in the future it shall remain (?)

We live in a physical world
The spiritual world is here, but some do not see it fully (I have on dark glasses myself at times)
Matthew 12:41-42
The physical people Jonah, queen of the south, and Solomon (in their generation) relate to something greater; possibly in other generations.

I wear this Rosetta Stone (type comment out)
The Law says we shall not muzzle the ox as it treads out the grain, and the New Testament says that the ox is related to the NT bishop (in concept).

Every physical part of creation, IMHO, has a lesson God has hidden. Romans 1:19-20
Cutting hands off is referring to what we do IMHO
Putting eyes out is referring to how you see doctrine. If you present false doctrine you can cause harm to others
We need to do right and think right. The physical and spiritual are intertwined, by God at creation. Romans 1:19-20

If we do not do right we are to confess our sins
If we think correctly we are to give credit to God

I like the word metaphysics (maybe not a bible word, bur it carries the greater than Jonah thought.
Kidneys filter toxins out of our blood
Holy Spirit helps us cast out vain imaginations out of our mind
One thought physical, and the other thought on a higher level

All this is from years of thought. It will be seen clearer when eternity hits.

If you think I have drank too much Mississippi swamp water press ignore.

There is a physical, and there is a spiritual parallel.

Jesus is not being literal here, he's being figurative. Read post 11.
DRS81, no offense, but why do you keep submitting your opinion on a matter as undeniable fact? You keep saying, "Read post 11". Well, I've read post 11 and it just gives an unsupported viewpoint. You may be absolutely correct, but nothing in your post supports it. You can't even say "it's Scriptural" because you yourself have interpreted the passage as metaphorical rather than literal.

I believe this is the logical fallacy known as "begging the question". It's like saying, "it's definitely a fact because I said so."

Cheers.

Figurative language is placed all throughout the Bible.
This scripture is actually one of the easier one's to interpret. It's obvious.
Do you see people cutting off their hands and feet and plucking their eyes out because of this scripture. NO.
That's just ridiculous.

I also don't see most people being saved. I think if more people started to realize how bad Hell truly is, self-amputation could enjoy a bit of an upsurge.

To understand hell is to understand God. If one is not indwelled with the Holy Spirit, how could they understand what hell is like. You can't realize something that you know in your mind doesn't exist.

Thanks for the link.
Ezekiel is parallel in a lot of ways to that sermon. Ezekiel was instructed to tell Israel that they were about to be destroyed after 390 years of sin (no more time of grace). The marked forehead folks would tell of Israel's sin in captivity. The video says judgement day will come and the books will be opened. With no postponement.

As always we differ on a few points, but I enjoyed the hour and twenty minutes.

Thanks

Much better response, btw. At least you're providing supporting statements now.

I said that I disagree with the doctrine that the lost do not perish in hell. I believe that the lost actually do perish in hell instead of remaining alive in hell forever being tormented.

I see that passage as being literal, however, the wise man can use the words in a figurative manner and see the lesson within, making it not necessary to literally chop off ones hand or so forth. We must be careful to consider all things within the context of the entire bible. For those who have literally chopped off their hands (I'm sure it's happened), they will not be amputees in Heaven, for they will be changed in the twinkling of an eye upon the Lords return and totally healed.

Hell fire is real brothers and sisters.

Then you believe a doctrine that blasphemes Jesus that makes his sufferings all for naught.. that false teacher that brought you to this point has you mocking God Timothy..

I disagree. His suffering and death on the cross pays the price for our sin. The Bible says that the wages of sin is death. Christ's death on the cross pays for the death that we owe for our sins, so that you and I can have eternal life.
