  • Focus on the Family

    Strengthening families through biblical principles.

Focus on the Family addresses the use of biblical principles in parenting and marriage to strengthen the family.

If it is unbiblical...it is a sin to practise it.

I guess a key component is the intention and principle behind the practice. Brushing your teeth is about good hygiene, it affects both others and yourself. The ways to keep ourselves sanitary and healthy have changed over the centuries with the changes of technology and in some cases increased knowledge, but the idea behind the various practices have been the same.

So I'd think unBiblical practices would be either ones that harm others or that involve harmful spiritual practices such as idolatry.
idolatry is in the bible, does not match op

idolatry is in the bible, does not match op
So is harming others and the command not to. More than half of the ten commandments are based on that principle. Idolatry is the other half.
What I was saying is, these principles help us determine what is Biblical versus unBiblical.

if you used it in front of some one that new you had not done that it would be ok;
if you used it in front of others that may think you did what the cup says it could be a stumbling block
The reality is it would take an extremely gullible person to look at you drinking from that cup and not understand it's just a joke. I've never personally met anyone that ignorant and gullible. This is worrying over nothing.

I am wrong from time to time. I am not worried over it, dont make stuff up. he ask a question I gave my opinion.

Fit's right into the concept of love God and love your neighbor, doesn't it?

I would not think music unbiblical
In case you hadn't noticed...
I'm on vacation in New Orleans... I'm not being really serious in this thread at the moment.

I do apologize if my facetiousness causes you some alarm.

no alarm, I did not recognize you humor; I do hope you have a good time on your vacation though..

Take for instance, the teaching of love your enemy as yourself, which rather some would use the guns, instead.
If my enemy is in the process of attempting to kill me or my family, it is my duty to try to stop him.
Or, take the example of what is going on in the middle east right now. Christians men and boys are being beheaded and women and girls gang raped. Should I allow that to happen while I "love" that enemy?
I believe that is why Jesus told his disciples to buy swords. (Luke 22:36)
