i didnt need the first one but it was special to me i dont feel there is another symbol i am as attached to,i think i nailed it with the crescent moon.Yes we are all different its so much of a blessing when you finally believe it for yourself it seemed it would never happen for me lol but God brought me to it.

hallowbonnie: Yes, you who are comfortable as a tattooed woman can readily understand also why others, who might not strictly need to get, e.g., a Christian fish sign <><, etc., still really want to do it. It can really be a deeply felt talking point about their personal testimony history. Blessings.

Sparrowhawke: Yes, it's normal and very widespread, anyway; and having some ink and extra piercings doesn't preclude a lady from having a spiritual interest in the Scriptures (just as not having ink or piercings doesn't make someone spiritually minded, either).

jasoncran: Have a good trip home today from the island. I guess I wouldn't want to see the ladies you describe, either, in the state you describe, though maybe they're not really complete bare. I guess we are talking in general terms about things here and in this thread.

Deborah13: I guess a century ago some Christians might have tried to claim lipstick was 'wrong'; but it was all bound up with Elizabeth Arden and the Suffragists and their cause; and now preachers' wives wear it all the time.

I guess some ink in benign designs in modest placements would be comparable in some ways, especially in term of your daughter's generation's perceptions.

(If this makes some sense?)

I just read today in the latest edition of The Army Times, that they are coming down on tatoos.
Everyone is being checked for what they have, and if the Army doesn't like it, it will have to be removed or covered.
From here on in, everyone with a tatoo will be checked when being transferred to a new post for new tatoos and to see that people stay within the rules of the Army.
It seems that Christians with tatoos are being thrown into the same category as everyone else.
No separation from the world here.

Wait until another international crisis and another shortage of military personnel and vigorous attempts to recruit more people to the ranks....and you will suddenly find that the Pentagon will have other priorities than to order corporals to keep inspecting the biceps and calves of men and women in the army...

It doesn't really matter to me if Christians have tattoos or not. We are Christians inwardly not outwardly. I don't like tattoos but I'm not going to reject anyone with a tattoo.

Hi Ms Sandy! Ty for your comment. Yes, I agree about the primacy of the inward; and Paul speaks in Ephesians about cultivating the inner man in true holinesss.

Do you think that a modestly place tattoo with faith related content (e.g., Christian fish sign <>< on a wrist, or Bible ref.) can for some Christians be a useful witness tool as a conversation starter?

(Seems to me anyway that for some people a little tattoo would be not too different from getting an extra pair of ear piercings put in.)

Okay. Anyway, if you happen to scroll back, various viewpoints have been expressed by posters on the thread. Seems like, whether or not individual Christians choose to get tattooed or not, yet clearly these days it's something that is acknowledged very widely that women do on an equal basis with men, in any case.

While it's certainly not for everyone. it's often both a family custom. Definitely also it's frankly a matter of gender equality.

home? its not far.less then 10 miles from my house to the alma lee loy bridge( named after a devout Christian whom is still alive and I have met). I go there at least half a month to read. well I see them in the mainland too.not all the wealthy live on the barrier island.i will send you a picture from google earth of this area.

I think sometimes it's more of a family thing than an age thing. Some families - a few generations of moms and dads, kids and grandkids, even - have gotten tattooed.

Ear piercing? Go for it! :)
