The area in which I live, >16000 people, has five tattoo shops. Of the five, three are owned by women, of those three, two are owned and operated by Christians. So the thought of Christian women with tattoos is just how it is. My wife is no longer intimidated by the whole dark alley tat shop scene. When the artist is a Christian woman, it makes it more accessible for other Christian women. ..
My wife had tatts before Christ.. She states that she prefers the idea of an artist with a set of morals similar to our own. We are friends with two female tattoo artists .. For my wife it seems to come down to the money, she may get more later, as the finances become available.

my county has a ton of churches. there are many Christians here who get tats. so that arguments doesn't work.

I know; I can well believe it; and faith based designs can be effective conversation-starters (for those that want them, anyway).

Blessings.

they aren't all faith based.some of them get rap tattoos. others names of kids, lovers.

Well, of course it's the faith based designs that are the ones that are effective in witness conversations.

Not for everyone, mind; the believing man or woman in question needs to have a clear motivation beforehand before using this method.

Blessings.

the problem farouk, is that you fail to realize that the world sinners outnumber the Christians. a Christian trying to refuse a tattoo he or she feels offensive is like trying to say to the sinners. we don't serve your kind here and expect to remain open. im all for that right but don't expect in a small town to stay open for long.my town is going from Christian consertivism to libertarianism.would you tat a devil on girl? the number 666? the upside down cross? and any other offensive but not as offensive art?

Well, I see what you mean up to a point. But clearly mygraine, above, and his wife recognize also that it's a valid activity for Christian men and women - especially if the Christian tattoo artist has some input into what s/he draws. After all it's a piece of commissioned art. And one that is proven to be an effective conversation-starter, if it's faith based.

But I do see what you mean about trying to avoid unsuitable designs.

Blessings.

the world isn't getting any holier. the church isn't getting holier either. I believe that in the west that this is happening because god allows it and men don't want to be holy.im against the human body being an art canvass. where does it stop? piercings on knoses, ears and lips ?nipple piercings for men only?what about rings?toe rings etc? and what or whom defines "bad art" you, me the sinner?when I work on cars I remover my wedding ring. its for my safety. some jobs require this. where I work and when I was in the garage that was the case.

I can understand at least some of what you say, although the idea all Christians without earrings wouldn't be realistic, for example.

Re. Jeni Ruth's comment, below, I can see what she means when she says that the style and reason for tattoos may well change after a person is saved:

Jeni Ruth said:
I guess for our family the question of whether or not to be tattooed was already made as I had 12 tats and my hubby had 4 when we were first saved. Certainly the style and reason for our tats changed after being saved. Five of our 6 kids are also inked [ages 28-35] ..(from Christian hyphen tattoos dot com )

Blessings.

yes but the problem there is that once again. the style may change but It can lead to sin. should we then have a Christian bar? surely a drink and jesus do mix some might say.

You think that for example a Christian fish sign <>< on a wrist, etc. would lead to sin instead of witness opportunities?

(I share your wish to avoid alcohol, btw.)

Blessings.

it can because we really don't have to. the path to hell is lead with good intentions. I mean lets use the ccm industry. ok we give out rewards for purchased music right? ok what is the difference tween that and the secualar songs? nothing. both touch people right? yes they do. im not saying that its a sin to listen to the ccm nor that they don't reach people just that often I see that some of the singers are really just doing it for the money.god rewards not men. why not the logic of church in a bar with only one or two beers? what is the difference of that being wrong and having tats that are simple fish symbols? don't both lead to the more "artistic"uses of them. ie beer for happiness and stress relief and tats well for expressing them emotions when im happy or sad or angry.

Like I say, I agree with you about alcohol.

The person's motive in getting a Christian fish sign <>< on a wrist, etc. must surely come into play as well, though. I can see how some Christians are motivated in this way so that that can be a more effective, God honoring witness: this would be their thinking.

Jeni Ruth, as well, (quoted above) was already tattooed and now wishes to express her faith in this way. I can understand this.

Blessings.

you are missing the point. by your dismissal of the torah in Leviticus and also the fact there is no clear verses where it says that beer consumption is to be nil. I can make the arguments you use for tats to make a Christian bar concept.
