Amen, just like His death and just like His resurrection.
Thanks be to God !
It will be too late by then.
We can die with Christ now at our crucifixion with Him.
Your beliefs, and mine, are illustrated by the way we walk.
The needs of the body?It has no weight if it is brought to nothing. Therefore what weight do the needs of the body have? This is what Paul is saying.
Again, I see no difference.Sorry I missed that. You should be looking for the differences because they are different words. Specifically look at the word annulled:
Definition of ANNULLED
to declare or make legally invalid or void; to reduce to nothing : obliterate; to make ineffective or inoperative : neutralize… See the full definitionwww.merriam-webster.com
Definition of DESTROYED
to ruin the structure, organic existence, or condition of; also : to ruin as if by tearing to shreds; to put out of existence : kill; neutralize… See the full definitionwww.merriam-webster.com
Eg: Matthew 7:13
apōleian
ἀπώλειαν ,
destruction
Romans 6:6
katargēthē
καταργηθῇ
might be annulled
"Null" means to have no value, therefore "annulled" speaks of the value given to the body's desires (consider James 1:13-15 in this context).
"Structure" means to have an orderly composition, therefore "destruction" means to undo the orderly construction of a thing. The destruction of the body means to take away the functionality of the body.
We differ there. It seems you may not fully understand what is required in the Gospel, to be saved.
Repenting is required to obey the Gospel, not repenting from sin.
That would be the case if we are repenting from serving the devil...but isn't that the same as turning from sin?Repent means to turn to God in submission to Him as Lord.
This by default means we are called to turn away from Satan as our lord, or master.
As long as it copies Paul's "calling on the name of the Lord", I can agree with your POV.The way we repent, obey the Gospel, is to confess with our mouth Jesus as Lord
By this we are saved; born again, regenerated.
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10
- with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Isn't that something you don't believe in?Baptism in water is for believers, people who are saved.
Believing the message of the kingdom of God, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, is how we are saved.
Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. Luke 8:12
Then comes the baptism is water and the baptism with the Holy Spirit, in which we are empowered to live our life free from sin.
- lest they should believe and be saved.
I can't agree. The message of the Gospel is repent, not repent of your sins. Now one can repent of their sins until they are born again and filled with the Spirit.
Of course we are to turn away from our sins.
It is far more than that.Water baptism is about identifying with the (likeness) of the death and (likeness) of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus as a public confession of faith.
“Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. Matthew 10:32
I sure am glad I called on the name of the Lord at my water baptism, in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of past sins after I had turned from sin, the devil, and a host of wickedness.
You stated..."The problem is if we literally die we go to be with the Lord in heaven."What will be too late?
If you actually crucify it once, you don't need to do it daily.IF we crucify the flesh daily, by the Spirit, how will it be too late.
"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." (1 John 1:7)Yes, one of is teaching truth and the other is not.
Amen.
- If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
Walk in the light, and then you can say you have no sin.If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
1 John 1:8-10
Don't commit any and you will not have to confess any.I would to go through this life, thinking I couldn’t confess my sin before God and be forgiven and cleansed of unrighteousness.
Hopefully, they will have turned form sin by then, and started walking in the light. It will be a sad day, when a person who never confesses their sin, because they have “deceived themself” into thinking there physical body is sinless, and they are sinless, and then they die in their sins and come before the Lord on that Day, only to realize it’s too late.
With all our unrighteousness cleansed, we can say we have no sin !
- If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
We differ there.
With all our unrighteousness cleansed, we can say we have no sin !
If you actually crucify it once, you don't need to do it daily.
The "flesh", the old man, the body of sin, is dead and gone already.
The needs of the body?
Lost me there...
If something is brought to nothing, it has been destroyed.
Paul is saying that he is no longer controlled by the needs of his body because it is through those needs that desire drags him out of his place of contentment, giving birth to sin, as James puts it. Paul is saying that he is not unaware of his body's needs, but that the weight given to the consideration of those needs is nil.The needs of the body?
Lost me there...
It can be said to be true in some ways.If something is brought to nothing, it has been destroyed.
Yes, we are warned about arguing about words. It only is strife and destroys those who observe us.Again, I see no difference.
This is just a question of semantics.
It is more that the expression you have used is saying something different than the doctrine you are promoting. To say that the body has been destroyed means that it no longer functions, but the doctrine teaches that the body is a vessel that functions to the glory of God. Only, it is the desires of the flesh that have been brought to nothing because it is they that war against the desires of the spirit. The flesh is not synonymous with the body, and the annulment of it is not synonymous with the destruction of it. Look, I have shown you the original word used by Jesus to speak of destruction, and it is not the same as the word used by Paul for the annulment of the body. Why is Paul not saying that the body has been destroyed? Is your point to say the old man is not destroyed?
Only brought to nothing, or annulled?
That seems to be synonymous.
The point is that "I" am more than my body. The "old man" is the flesh: the mind and the heart, but the body is only a vessel. It is the "old me" that has passed away, not my body. Our bodies continue to serve their function under new management when we become born again.Again, I see no difference.
This is just a question of semantics.
Is your point to say the old man is not destroyed?
Only brought to nothing, or annulled?
That seems to be synonymous.
Are these close enough for you?...Maybe you could show us some passages where the Gospel was preached using the phrase “repent of your sins.”
In that way, I can see where you are coming from JLB
Now you are seemingly seeing it !Yes, and continue to walk in the light as He is in the light…
Not hiding from God as Adam and Eve did, but remaining in the light because we want the Lord to continue to see our heart and continue to examine us; being open and honest with Him, because we love Him and want to be with Him always.
But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1:7-8
In this way we continue to have fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ.
And now you are accommodating "sinning Christianity" again. My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 1 John 2:1
If we should sin, God does not cast us away.
If we wander away from Him, God wants us to return and be reconciled.
“And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
“But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ And they began to be merry. Luke 15:20-24
Brothers "in Christ" do not commit sin.Do you believe if a brother in Christ does sin, and wanders away from Him, was never saved to begin with?
Are you reading my replies? Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. Luke 9:23-24
Denying ourselves the things of this world, daily and sowing to the Spirit, daily is how we will reap eternal life.
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. Galatians 6:7-8
Sorry brother but we are called to daily take up our cross and follow Him. We are to daily be filled with the Spirit; sowing to the Spirit, feeding upon His word, spending time with Him alone, separating ourselves to Him. Fasting and praying in the Spirit.
These daily habits of sowing to the Spirit are how we grow strong everyday, and crucifying the flesh by the Spirit.
Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
Romans 8:12-13
- but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
The Spirit leads us to have godly habits, to sow or invest our time towards the things of the Spirit, spending time in prayer, private devotion, reading and meditating on His word, as well as fasting and praying in the Spirit. These are they ways we stay built up inwardly, to live our life according to the Spirit.

You've lost the context of my reply.Do you eat, drink, sleep...?
