Revelation 1:1-3 Seldom examined verses

The book of Revelation has nothing to do with 70AD.

The book of Revelation at Chapter 4 reveals things ”to come”.

It was written in 60 something AD. The temple is still standing. John is told he will still minister in the world and was 60 something. In 90 AD, he was too frail being and old man who couldn’t walk or talk and had to be carried to events. This was the view of the church fathers. He was on Patmos in the same years Peter and Paul were killed. That makes sense. It makes no sense for John to be put on Patmos at 90 when he couldn’t walk or talk.

The book of Revelation was written by the Apostle John from the isle of Patmos, some time after 90 AD.

However, the island of Patmos declined when the Romans conquered it. It was used as a place of exile for convicts. This is how Apostle John came to Patmos, exiled by the Roman Emperor Titus Flavius Domitianus in 95 AC. In Patmos, Apostle John conveyed the inhabitants to Christianity and wrote the Book of Revelation, the Apocalypse. Patmos then became a place of worshipping and pilgrimage and actually, the culture and history of Patmos are strongly connected to the Apocalypse of Saint John.

Jesus repeatedly said “soon” and what happened soon after that fits the description.

Here is what He said in 90 AD —

And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”
Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.
Revelation 22:12-14

… But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
2 Peter 3:8

Yes they are but it would take a book to lay out the details described by Josephus that match Revelation.

Future for them, past for us. (Except the Resurrection and Judgement of course)

They happened shortly after he saw it.

This certainly seems to be your opinion.

Back to my question —

Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod. And the angel stood, saying, “Rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship there. But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months.
These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the God of the earth. And if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner.
Revelation 11:1-4

  • And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner.

How many Roman soldiers were killed by fire coming down from heaven upon them?

In the same hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell. In the earthquake seven thousand people were killed, and the rest were afraid and gave glory to the God of heaven. The second woe is past. Behold, the third woe is coming quickly.
Revelation 11:13

Did an earthquake destroy the city and sanctuary in 70 AD?

The Romans were only the tool although Titus the General looked up to God and said to him, you know I didn’t do this, meaning the events were so horrible it was divinely ordained, not Roman.

The Book of Revelation of the ending of the Jewish covenant culminating in the final destruction of the temple which can never be rebuilt. That covenant age is over.

But it is in metaphors or symbols as so much of Hebrew prophesy is. Nevertheless those who had pierced him saw these events as Jesus said they would. That generation was still there when it happened. It was the Master coming and killing those servants who had killed the son. That is my view.

Thanks for sharing your opinion.

Behold, the day of the LORD is coming,
And your spoil will be divided in your midst.
For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem;
The city shall be taken,
The houses rifled,
And the women ravished.
Half of the city shall go into captivity,
But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
Then the LORD will go forth
And fight against those nations,
As He fights in the day of battle.
Zechariah 14:1-3

  • Then the LORD will go forth and fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle.

Did Jesus fight against the Roman soldiers in 70 AD?

That's exactly what I talked about .

Who in persons challenged you.

Forsake not assembling together .online church isn't church at all.

How does one even know you if you died and went to heaven ,if they ever talked to you ?

Name tags if online personas ?
You believe I should have been taught by a blind man?
Unlike many I have not sought someone to teach me what my tingling ears wanted to hear.
I simply preferd the truth so I wanted to learn from the anointing I have recieved.
I don't really care if I die that anyone would even know I die. God knows.

The book of Revelation has nothing to do with 70AD.

The book of Revelation at Chapter 4 reveals things ”to come”.
Then you know not the beast that once was before 90 ad nor do you know when it recieved a mortal wound because you believe revelation has anything to do with the beast that existed before 90 AD even though revelation talks about it.
Stop ignoring revelation 17:8

The beast" once was "before 90 ad.
Your argument is revelation says nothing about what "once was" .

But you somehow by yourself aren't able to be decieved .

Cults start that way .when you go astray who corrects you ?

No one .when you need counseling ,no one .

When you die ,who ministers to your widow?

The idea is is plural not singular .as if God can't send you to a good church .

That's my point as that man was .no church was perfect enough .the Bible has to be taught 100 percent as he wanted it

I may not post the best arguments.but I can read and study myself and could be saying that as well .but I learned I'm not called to teach and those that are .I ought to listen .can't have a gift if teaching if there is no students .

Doesn't mean one can't study.

Being involved in online church only makes one unique and out of balencs with what is required .

No accountability, hiding of your identity to where it's even easier to lie and sin and decieve .church has its issues .but the Bible commands a gathering in person .

I'm not a people person .I have to push against my tendency to isolate ,even with my family .I can easily not bother for days talking to them.

We aren't made to do that

You dont believe God can correct those who believe in Him? You don't believe God can correct those he is in? It's like John said.

But I stopped going to church because I didn't want to learn lies. I'm happy with my choice.
Many cults call themselves a church and they are. The word church just means an assembly. It doesn't make it good or bad.

I said Revelation has nothing to do with the events of 70 AD.

Again, nothing written in the book of Revelation is about 70 AD; ie the events of 70 AD, where the city and sanctuary were destroyed.

I do have a question or twenty.
John 11:48 kjv
48. If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.

John 2:28 kjv
28. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?

Abraham looked for a city whose builder and maker was God.

King David wanted to build a temple, but was told by God that God lived in a tent. David was a man after the inner man.

Solomon and a Gentile built the first temple.

A
A gentile king saw to the rebuilding of the first temple?

The second temple (Nero’s temple?) was built? / rebuilt? by Nero.

Whose temple was destroyed in
70 AD? A temple of God or a temple man desired temple?

We are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Bones for staves, hides for covering.
Made in the image of God.

So did the Gentiles lose a temple? Was the loss of the temple a wound for God or Satan?

I really do not totally know.

Oh yes there is. Just because you have yet to learn it, doesn't mean it doesn't. It just means you have no idea what I'm talking about.
Maybe someday you will learn how the beast recieved a mortal wound. Or in this case, when.

Solomon,zerubabble,herods temple .

Now notice that the Lord going forth and fighting against the nations is AFTER the women are all raped and half of the population are sent into slavery…..afterwards. He does NOT defend the city. Jerusalem was surrounded by armies from different nations in 70 AD and that’s what happened to them. Eventually they came back and rebuilt the city. The nations today are NEVER going to march to Jerusalem again. What for? What do they have that’s desirable?
  • Then the LORD will go forth and fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle.
He did but decades later. He did not promise to defend the people against the horrors of war and said so. Rome was destroyed.
Did Jesus fight against the Roman soldiers in 70 AD?
Read the scripture you quote. It says the women WILL BE raped, not protected and the inhabitants dragged off into slavery. Even the scripture you quote doesn’t say they’ll be rescued.

This certainly seems to be your opinion.
And below is certainly your opinion. Are you going to say that every time failing to realize what you wrote is certainly your opinion?

Notice the temple was standing. It isn’t anymore.

Again, the people in the city were evil. They were the ones spoken of, not those outside the city. The Romans were the instruments of the hand of God in judgement outside the city and not evil.

Read the scripture you quote. Only 1/10 if the city fell, not the whole city. The temple isn’t mentioned in that scripture so why do you bring it up?

I do have a question or twenty.
John 11:48 kjv
48. If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.
Interesting prophesy because that’s exactly what happened.
John 2:28 kjv

A

Herod wasn’t a gentile.
The second temple (Nero’s temple?) was built? / rebuilt? by Nero.
Nero had nothing to do with the Jewish temple.
Whose temple was destroyed in
70 AD?
The Jewish temple.
So did the Gentiles lose a temple? Was the loss of the temple a wound for God or Satan?
No loss except to the Jews. God was done with the temple…new covenant and new priesthood.
I really do not totally know.
Glad to explain my view.

No, John was sentenced under Nero around the age of 60 and afterwards traveled and ministered in various churches just as Revelation says he would. In 90 AD he was a frail old man who couldn’t write or walk or talk. Clement writings support this view as do other church fathers. The temple was standing when it was written putting it at 60 something AD.

That's not true. Early church writings says the exact opposite of what you just said.
I don't know where you keep coming up with these lies.
John couldn't write, walk of talk?
What is wrong with you?
