Salvation by grace through faith; not through works / law-keeping.

Those that do not believe from the heart unto righteous doing of the word, have that faith sitting alone taken immediately away by Satan.

Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. Luke 8:12

I'd go so far as to say that there's not too much difference regarding works in comparing the Mosaic Covenant to the New Covenant. They both require works/good deeds (for those that hate the word works), the difference being that in the NC the law is written in the heart (Jeremiah, Ezekiel) and we have the Holy Spirit INDWELLING to empower us.

Exactly.

Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.

We not delivered from the law of God, to no longer do it, but we are delivered from the power of the law to condemn us, because we're not doing it.

Jesus destroys transgressing the law. Some Christians destroy the law itself.

Transgressing the law is no longer condemned, because the law is made evil.

They actually teach that doing the law of Christ is now sin, and only those dismissing the law are guiltless when doing works of the flesh.

It's the mystery Babylon's way of changing meanings and words and times and laws.

The Bible teaches works by the law without faith are useless to justify a man. They say keeping the law, whether by faith or not, is now sinful.

Right. Good point.
For God works cannot be outward...they must come from the heart. Thus obedience of faith (Romans 1) and the Law of Love which Jesus taught His disciples...Love God, Love neighbor, Love yourself.
Yes. We cannot being loving our neighbor, without first loving God, and we cannot be loving God without loving our neighbor.

The key is that we can only love God with a whole pure heart. Half hearted love of God with lust in the heart, is not loving God at all.

And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

I've known the other member for years and I doubt the above is his reason for believing as he does.
I understand this, that not all trusting in faith without works, also openly confess continued works of the flesh. However, the great majority do, and I have only found one that teaches after 'initial' salvation by faith alone, doing righteousness and good works must begin immediately in order to be saved.

The problem is that we do answer to God for what we minister to others. And if our teaching is so corrupt, that others practicing it continue in works of the flesh, then we too will be destroyed with them.

The false prophetess Jezebel in Rev 2 is warned by Jesus for teaching His servants how to fornicate. He does not say she herself was doing it. We can see how most false teachers, that excuse sinning doctrinally, themselves live outwardly well. They are not forincators, drunkards, thieves, etc... but their doctrine justifies them doing it by faith alone, and by teaching all sins past, present, and future are already forgiven.

However, yes, I'm sure that some depend TOO MUCH on God's grace and goodness.

They depend too much on their personal doctrine about grace and goodness, that the Bible does not teach.
No where in the NT is faith ALONE taught.
Exactly. Other than taught as being dead and can save no man.
The Early Christians did not teach this and is not in any writing I can think of.
Actually, we have to know some did, otherwise, James would not have needed to rebuke it. Also, the results of such teaching is also rebuked. That would be the promises of liberty in licentiousness with grace abounding.

Believe me. The doctrine of faith alone entered into the church right alongside Judaizing. In the later letters and books of the NT such things had to be rebuked.

No sir, the actual words of scripture are in opposition to your theory!

The words and context teach us that those who walk in the light are cleansed of their sins by the blood of Jesus.

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1:7-8

JLB
I'm sorry you are so devoted to remaining in the dakness.

Yes people who walk in the light as He is in the light are have their sins cleansed by the blood of Jesus.

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7

JLB
So why can't they say they have no sin?
They have been cleansed of all sin, so they can walk in God..in Whom is no sin.
So they are sin-free in an environment void of sin !

Yes, the scripture is clear that Christians walk in the light, not non Christians. Christians who walk in the light as He is in the light have their sins cleansed by His blood.

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7

Are you trying to teach us, that non Christians walk in the light?

JLB
Nope.
Sinners are walking in sin, darkness.
Only those walking in God can remain sin free.

Twist as you may, this word does not change.

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7

John is plainly stating that those who walk in the light are the ones whose sins the blood of Jesus cleanses.

Obviously then walking in the light does not mean sinlessly perfect.

The blood of Jesus cleanses those who walk in the light of all sin.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:8-9

  • If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins

They way Christians are forgiven their sins is to confess them.

JLB
...and the cleansed can say they have no sin.
If they can't say they have no sin, they are walking in sin-darkness.

Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side.
But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion.
So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’ So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?” Luke 10:30-36
Out of the three men who came upon the man in need, the Samaritan is the one who demonstrated love.
Do you believe the Samaritan was sinlessly perfect?
In Jesus' parable, the make-believe Samaritan is loving and kind.
The antithesis of a sinner.

I'm 37 years into the Spirit filled life.
I reject your assertion that I'm not Spirit filled and born again because I'm not 100% sinless.

You're relying on the righteousness of your work, thinking it to be 100% righteous, to pass safely through the coming judgment. I'm relying on the declaration of righteousness I received by faith in God's forgiveness and the resurrection of Christ from the dead. You will be sorely disappointed at the return of Christ. I will not.
There is no sin in God, in whom Christians walk.

I'm sorry you are so devoted to remaining in the dakness.

You are a liar and a deceiver who makes up lies and can’t validate your false teaching in scripture so you have nothing left to do but make derogatory remarks about those who expose your false doctrine.

The words are plain to those who love the truth.

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7

This scripture plainly says those who walk (live their life; lifestyle) in the light, have their sins cleansed and forgiven.

Where does this scripture mention sinners?

Ths scripture only pertains to those who walk in the light.

No unrighteous people walk in God.
The confession and cleansing happen before the walk in God starts.
Stay in God, and you will always be able to say you have fellowship with God and that you no sin.

Their sins were cleansed so they could enter into the light, as there is no sin in God.
You are saying there is sin in God by saying the sinners in God keep getting washed.
Do you believe the Samaritan was sinless and perfect?
The Samaritan was a made up character.

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7
Two points were just made.
1. If we walk in God, we have fellowship with Him.
2. The blood of Christ washes away sin.
Where does this scripture mention sinners?
In point 2.
Ths scripture only pertains to those who walk in the light
Didn't the blood of Christ wash away the sins of the ex-sinner before he could enter into God?
Only point 1 of 1 John 1:7 pertains to those who walk in God.
Point 2 describes what they must first do to get into God.
There is no sin in God.
The confession and cleansing occur before one can even be allowed into God,

No unrighteous people walk in God.
The confession and cleansing happen before the walk in God starts.
Stay in God, and you will always be able to say you have fellowship with God and that you no sin.

You have added your own words to this scripture in substitution of the words actual used.

Their sins were cleansed so they could enter into the light, as there is no sin in God.

Again you make up your own words and add them to the scripture and change the scripture to suit your doctrine

"enter" is not mentioned.

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7

Walk in the light refers to people in the light as a perpetual lifesyle; a walk.

Again this scripture pertains to those who walk in the light.
