yet ROME took that. how much greater will the army be of the ac? aircraft! bombs and so forth.

Two things...They will be a little preoccupied at Jerusalem, and...(wait for it...) God!
They'll be ok.

A lot of people die, and have died in wars. WW II............. 50 to 70 MILLION people killed. So it is not just numbers killed that Jesus was talking about.
The 70 AD Tribulation had multiple horrors heaped upon just the straight loss of lives.
Then.................. The most important part of it all............ the all-out attempt to completely wipe out the religion God established on this Earth. And they came real close to accomplishing it.

Mat 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
Mat 24:17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
Mat 24:18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
Mat 24:19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
Mat 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
Mat 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Seriously.. whom is the tribulation actually for. the literal reading...
Sounds like for those who did not flee to the mountains of Judaea... pregnant and nursing mothers...
Halocaust was worse.

More died.

The Tribulation will be a world wide persecution of Gods people.

"Therefore when you see the 'abomination of desolation,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand)...for then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Since the Abomination of Desolation will be set up in the Temple in Jerusalem at that time, it would pertain to those who are in Jerusalem at that time.

Here you go.
http://www.biblicalarchaeology.org/free-ebooks/masada-the-dead-seas-desert-fortress/

They have an article on Pella, Jordon where the Christians fled to from Jerusalem and around Judea before the destruction of the city and surrounding areas.

They have quite a few free ebooks you might like too.

Thanks Deb! :)

That may have been the idea, but I think it still just amounted to persecution in the long run. It is said that the holocaust took 1 out of 3 Jews off the planet, and that the great trib will take 2 out of 3.

In the first 31/2 years of the tribulation 1/3 of the population will die.

Why do you think God would punish the Jews living now for killing the prophets in the OT and the ones that Jesus sent out like, Stephan, Paul, Peter, and many others?

Mat 23:28 so also ye outwardly indeed do appear to men righteous, and within ye are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.
Mat 23:31 So that ye testify to yourselves, that ye are sons of them who did murder the prophets;
Mat 23:32 and ye--ye fill up the measure of your fathers.
Mat 23:33 `Serpents! brood of vipers! how may ye escape from the judgment of the gehenna?

Mat 23:34 `Because of this, lo, I send to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes, and of them ye will kill and crucify, and of them ye will scourge in your synagogues, and will pursue from city to city;
Mat 23:35 that on you may come all the righteous blood being poured out on the earth from the blood of Abel the righteous, unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the sanctuary and the altar:
Mat 23:36 verily I say to you, all these things shall come upon this generation.
Mat 23:37 `Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that art killing the prophets, and stoning those sent unto thee, how often did I will to gather thy children together, as a hen doth gather her own chickens under the wings, and ye did not will.
Mat 23:38 Lo, left desolate to you is your house;

Luk 21:22 because these are days of vengeance, to fulfil all things that have been written.

I'll ask you the say thing I asked Edward in post #209 .........
Seriously.. whom is the tribulation actually for.

Why do you think God would punish the Jews now by killing 1/3 of them again? Wasn't it enough once?
Why would He punish them for what the "Vipers" did in the 1st century and for what the Vipers fathers did to the prophets in the OT?

There is no Religion that God established, ever!

I do not think that the great trib is about the killing of the prophets. I think that is is about them turning their backs on God as a nation, and since us Christians are grafted into the vine...us also. The great trib is what this is about. Punishing the earths people and pushing their backs to the wall in so great of a manner, that they will cry out unto God again to be their God and to come help them. To turn to God as a nation and as a people. That's what the great tribs about.

They may have had their share of vengeance for the killing of the prophets. Perhaps that was what 70AD or even WWII was about.

The tribulation involves God protecting the woman - he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child. But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. Revelation 12:13-14

The tribulation also involves the devil persecuting and waging war with with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Revelation 12:18

The devil is the one doing the persecuting of God's people.

He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, Shall persecute the saints of the Most High, And shall intend to change times and law. Then the saints shall be given into his hand For a time and times and half a time. Daniel 7:25

The saints who are given into his hand for 3 1/2 years seem to be the rest of the woman's offspring.

The woman seems to be protected in the wilderness.

Who the tribulation is actually for? I probably don't understand the question.

Who is it for?

Kathi, Im not confused by what I wrote.

The saints will be given into his hand for 3 1/2 years, that's the time frame of the tribulation.

He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, Shall persecute the saints of the Most High, And shall intend to change times and law. Then the saints shall be given into his hand For a time and times and half a time.Daniel 7:25

Then the saints shall be given into his hand For a time and times and half a time...

This is the same time frame. spoken of in Revelation 12 -

But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent...and the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Revelation 12:14,17

...he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

The woman was protected in the wilderness... Just like the children of Israel were when they left Egypt.

The rest of her offspring is who the devil waged war against.

Notice what Daniel says -

I was watching; and the same horn was making war against the saints, and prevailing against them...

Revelation 12 says it this way
- And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

The saints of God is who is given into his hand.

The saints of God, are who keep the testimony of Jesus and the commandments of God, that's who the devil wages war against.

They overcame him by the blood of the lamb, and they did not love their lives unto death.

Who gave the saints of God into his hand?

That's who the tribulation is for, so that the Bride can make herself ready...

His wife has made herself ready." 8
And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. Revelation 19:7-8

She has made herself ready for her Bridegroom, and is now worthy of Him, as she has overcome, like He has overcome.

He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Revelation 19:13-14

They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and they did not love their lives unto death.

Later, people..... got church tonight (He might be watching..... don't want to hamper my standing.... )
Dear Brother Willie T, in Christ our standing remains secure, but our state changes. We can grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus (2 Pet 3:18), and progress spiritually in our walk from children, to young men, to fathers (1 John 2:13.)

Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The result? Rev 3:10 Some having patiently kept the word of God are kept from the temptation to come upon all the world, and others come out of great tribulation (Rev 7:14).

John is shown some round about Jesus' throne (Rev 4:4), and in the midst of Jesus' throne (Rev 4:6). Some rule (Rev 5:10), some serve (Rev 7:15), and others follow (Rev 14:4). I'll add the fact that all in heaven are not the bride of Christ. Do I covet having God's best for me as I allow Him to work in me to will, and to do of His good pleasure (Php 2:13).

My obsession to have God's best for me will not deny others from pursuing the same will of God for their lives. We can but read Rev Chaps 2 & 3 to see the benefits. Blessings in Christ Jesus.
