The Atonement: What did it REALLY Accomplish?

Christ death accomplished purification of sin to all He died for !

Heb 9:13

13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:

14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Those who believe that the atoning death of Christ does not purify all for whom He died, you are reducing the precious blood of the Son of God to be even less effective than the blood of bulls and goats, and the ashes of an heifer that accomplished the purifying of the flesh, which was actually a type of what the Blood of Christ does..

Whereas the animal blood only provided outward sanctification and purification, the blood of Christ accomplished a purification of the inmost being, for it [His blood] actually purifies the conscience from dead works to serve the Living God..

Anyone who never comes to serve the Living God, Christ did not shed His blood for them, or His blood was ineffectual .

Why is it the responsibly of Christ to build the church?

Because He promised He was going to do it !

Matt 16:18

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Jesus statement " I will build my church" is a promise and statement of fact He would accomplish !

And Christ Church was birthed on the day of Pentecost with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit as the Disciples waited for instructions from Christ, Acts 1:2-5. Christ is the rock, the foundation of His Church not made by hands.

Acts 1:2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
Acts 1:3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
Acts 1:4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
Acts 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Rom 5:17

17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

This is another scripture that proclaims the effects of Christ death unto those He died for, they shall reign in life by one.

Thats because the ones He died for will receive abundance of Grace and the Free Gift of righteousness.

Paul writes on down in vs 19, that all those Christ died for shall be made righteous, hence the free gift of righteousness.

The word receive here does not mean a offer was made and received or could have been rejected, but it means effectually given or applied to the ones receiving; Just like through Adam, men received death, we received condemnation, they were not offered to us but made to apply to us.

Those Jesus died for reign in this life because Jesus by His blood hath made us a Kingdom. Rev 1:5-6

5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God
and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Notice vs 6 He hath made us King and Priest, being washed in His blood.

Thats why Paul says they shall reign in life, the atoning blood of Christ produces/accomplishes that effect.

Jesus blood made those He died for a Kingdom, we are kings and priests solely because of His Blood.

Christ promised that He will build His Church, and so that's His responsibility to build it to completion !

I agree and that He will as many are added to the church daily who have heard the Gospel preached to them by those who are anointed by the Holy Spirit and called of God to preach, just like the 3000 on the day of Pentecost that were added to the church, Acts 2:14-47. The church is not made up of denominations/non-denominations, but as the collective body of Christ with He being the head of the body built up on the doctrines of Christ through the Spiritual regeneration of the Holy Spirit that has sealed us unto the day of redemption, John 3:5-7; Romans 10:9-10; Ephesians 4:30; Colossians 1:15-23.

We both follow the teachings of Christ. You depend upon yourself as the ultimate source of wisdom in regards to understanding the Bible. I depend upon myself and the advice of many learned men. I believe scripture to be good advice to rely on the council of many, you rely on the council of ONE. Calvinism vs. JLBism
Fred,
Every other Christian person, outside of reformed theology, does not rely on himself as the ultimate source of wisdom or salvation.

This has been taught to you by man and not by scripture.

Scripture teaches us that God is our wisdom if we respect (fear) Him and He is also our salvation.

You should really stop saying silly things about what other Christian's believe since it is YOU that is following unbiblical teachings of men.

Okay then He's responsible to fulfill His promise.

Okay then He's responsible to fulfill His promise.
Yes, and to fulfill His promise of establishing His church here on earth He has sent down the Holy Spirit who works through those, beginning with the 12, especially Peter on the day of Pentecost who stood up declaring/preaching the word of God to all who would hear him speak. On that first day 3000 were added to the first church (body of Christ) because they heard the word of the Lord preached to them and believed and were also baptized in the Holy Spirit. A servant is nor greater than their master and it is Christ in us that still goes about establishing His church in the four corners of the world.

What is truth?
Man must not live on bread alone
but on every word that comes
from the mouth of God.”
Truth comes from the mouth of God, not John Calvin, John Wesley, Brigham Young, Charles Taze Russell or any other self proclaimed theologian that has come down the pike throughout the centuries. Even the so called great theologians can not agree with each other, but yet say they are teaching the word of God.

1John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

1John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
1John 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
1John 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
1John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
1John 4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
1John 4:6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

It's Christ responsibility to build His Church!

It's Christ responsibility to build His Church!

The Lord uses people to build His Church, for we are His body, and He is the head, who instructs the body.

For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building. According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. 1 Corinthians 3:9-10

Made Kings and Priest by His blood !

Jesus blood made those He died for a Kingdom, we are kings and priests solely because of His Blood. Rev 1:5-6

5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. See also Rev 5:9-10

So it is True that by His own blood He made us [those He died in behalf of] a Kingdom of priest.

All for whom Christ died will sooner or later in their life time, according to the purpose of God for them, become believers in Christ, to manifest their union with Him when He died, for they were in Him just as they were in Adam when He died, and Just as our union with Adam was made manifest by our being made sinners, so likewise, our union with Christ when He died is made manifest when we are made priest by Christ blood..

1 Pet 2:9

9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

None can by their own freewill be made of a royal priesthood, its an Divine Appointment, and Christ by His blood, causes all for whom He died to become.33

Sure He uses people, but they are nothing, He gives the increase 1 Cor 3:6-7

I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.

So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

Its God that causes the believing or the increase.

Sure its an honor to be used of God to cause one to believe, but nevertheless, they believe because of God

Its Christ that causes belief, and adds to His Church that He is responsible for building, thats why its written Acts 2:47

Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Peter didnt add to the church, though he was used of God, Jesus added to His Church that He was building !

Just as the scripture I quoted says.

Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
Matthew 25:37-40

You paid zero attention to Pauls writing sir !

Sure He uses people, but they are nothing, He gives the increase 1 Cor 3:6-7

Take it a little further adding vs. 8-9 as it explains why Paul and Apollos were nothing on their own.

1Cor 3:6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
1Cor 3:7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
1Cor 3:8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
1Cor 3:9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.

Paul planted the seed (word) Apollos came and watered (nourished the word) not of their own accord, but that of being laboures together with God. They/we are nothing without God's Holy Spirit working in them/us and through them as Christ adds to His church daily. They/we by God's grace through faith are the ones who choose to believe after hearing the word preached to us and build upon our faith in Him that makes up the body of Christ with Jesus being the head of the body as we are His workmanship. The true church of God is not a building made with hands, but those who chose to pick up their cross and follow Him.

No one, not even God can make one to believe in Him as He calls, but many shut their ears to His calling them to His salvation.

The Atonement of Christ or the satisfaction of Christ took care of Two major problems that sinners had in regards to God's Holy Law, He Christ rendered a Perfect obedience to all its statues, and He endured it's punishment due for its violation for His People, those the Father had given Him, this death of Christ was the taking away of the sin and its punishment due to the elect world Jn 1:29

29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

That is men and women of all ethnic groups. And all ages of world history.

Therefore the World of Jn 1:29 is a world saved by the Lamb !

No one, not even God can make one to believe in Him as He calls, but many shut their ears to His calling them to His salvation.
I know what it says, Believing the Gospel is Gods Work, not the preachers. Thats basically whats being said. All spiritual success from preaching, believing the Truth and growing in it, is Gods work, His increase. The preachers dont build the church, Christ does. In Matt 16:18

18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Jesus didnt say, peter you and i will build my church, but I will build my Church. Jesus can use any vessel He wants to preach, but only He can cause the belief.

1 Cor 3:5

Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?

You see how Paul minimized their role in the Corinthians believing ?

Their believing/faith is Gods Gift to them !
