The Charismatic Church movement

After John Finished in 96 ad, was there a word or prophesy added to any of the scriptures that were finally put together a 100 years after Johns death? Nope.
My understanding with prophecy today is that it is more edification and on individual people, not necessarily a nation. For instance, I could have someone tell me or confirm a direction I should take - that is prophecy for today.

Is this how other people understand prophecy for today?

I now know why I do not attend Church any longer.Their just are very few of the kind of Church that I would like to attend. The Church has become a different institution from 40-50 years ago.
Fundamental Churches and Teachers are not popular but they are still there... worshipping and learning the hard truths of God, one need only look for them. When I hear this from anyone professing to follow the Christ the first thing that comes into my mind is Heb. 10:25.

Can you lay out the doctrine of tongues for me? All I have seen is people SAY they have tongues. I know a few people who have admitted they faked it. You should be able to lay out the doctrine of tongues is for today. I would change my mind if someone could teach the doctrine from scriptures, Not just saying "we do not dig deep." The reason I do not believe tongues is for today IS because I went beyond the surface of the word.
Why you jumping on me about tongues? I honestly couldn't care less if a person speaks in tongues, or not.

Sir, I am not jumping on you. I just have never seen anyone lay out the doctrine of tongues for today, I just figured you have studied this doctrine and could show me from scriptures why I should believe it. All I have seen is a couple of lone scriptures posted and men saying they have the gift. Not very convincing for me. I could take a couple scriptures and teach that we should take our money and buy hard booze and party with family members if I wanted to. I just have not seen the doctrine of tongues for today, put together by scripture, anywhere.

Nor have I. I don't even know if there is such scripture. Where did you get the idea that I had studied about justification for tongues?

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

I hesitate to offer those verses, because I don't want anyone handing me a glass of poison or a snake........ even though I openly engage in healing ministry all the time. :angry3 (Yes, I DO know the implied meanings of those verses.)

uhm where in the torah does it teach that all jewish folk have wealth and know how to invest? that is a culutural things and there are poor jews.
singed a poor jewish male who grew up with no running water or electricity at times. the wealth that jews have comes from that the jews find out that they could be good at money, that happened after ad 70. while one can argue that Jerusalem was the richest city in the roman empire it was by ill begotten means isreal go that. see the myraids of condemnation to herod, the Pharisees and the saducess by our lord.

jews tend to be wealthy because they also value education, tend to invest and save and also teach a good work ethic. nothing unusual about that. that is part of the culture.

In Jesus day they knew their covenant rights.

Joh 8:33 kjva They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?

I have heard several speak about the seed of Abraham and they also believe being broke is not God's plan. You might be hanging out with the wrong Jewish folk.

This thread is becoming hateful and personal...

2.4: Do not make an inflammatory remark just to get a response. Address issues not personalities. Respect where people are in their spiritual walk, and respect all others in general. Respect where others are in their spiritual walk, do not disrupt the flow of discussion or act in a way that affects others negatively including when debating doctrinal issues, in the defense of the Christian faith, and in offering unwelcome spiritual advice.

We are brother and sisters in the Lord ... how about we show respect to God's kids.... We do not have to agree but we can be polite... Are people really less of a Christian then you because they disagree with you?

Lets not get another thread closed... or cause ourselves to be read only Admin...
If a member disagrees with a Moderator's/Admin's action, they are not to take their dispute public. (see 1.3)

Sometimes I think we can confuse prophecy, which I agree with it being for edification and individuals, but sometimes rather than being prophecy it is a word of knowledge or wisdom.
ie. You are thinking about someone you should witness to and you are praying about it. Someone else that doesn't know says something that confirms that for you.
Or this true story about Charles Spurgeon....a word of knowledge?
"A man was won for Christ because the preacher pointed to him and said, "There is a man sitting there who is a shoemaker; he keeps his shop open on Sundays; it was open last Sabbath morning. He took ninepence and there was fourpence profit on it; his soul is sold to Satan for fourpence." The man was afraid to go and hear Spurgeon again for fear he might tell the people more about him, for what he said at first was all true. But at last he came, and the Lord met with him.

One Sunday evening Mr. Spurgeon, pointing to the gallery, said, "Young man, the gloves you have in your pocket are not paid for." After the service a young fellow came beseeching him not to say anything more about it, and the circumstances led to his conversion."

We can go on all day about how people have had experiences, and large groups of Christians believe in practising modern tongues. We can also go directly to the Word of God and have the Holy Spirit teach us from His own Word the truth about spiritual gifts (including tongues) (1 Corinthians chapters 12-14 KJV). Please read for yourself and confirm that this is so:
1. God does not want us to be ignorant about spiritual gifts (12:1)
2. There are diversities of gifts (12:4)
3. God is the One who gifts and operates the gifts (12:6)
4. Every Christian will have at least one gift (12:7)
5. Some of the gifts listed in 1 Corinthians are: word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, healing, working of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, tongues, interpretation of tongues (languages) (12:8-10)
6. Other gifts (or repititions of those above) are further listed according to importance: apostles, prophets, teachers, miracles, healings, helps, governments, tongues (12:28).[Note: tongues are last in order of importance, apostles are first, so He says"First apostles"]
7. All Christians will not have all the gifts, therefore all will not speak in tongues:"Do all speak with tongues?" (12:29-30). [Right here Paul nullifies the Pentecostal/Charismatic teaching that all will speak in tongues].
8. We are to covet "the best" gifts (12:31).
9. Charity [agape love] is the best gift (13:13), and prophecies, tongues, and knowledge would cease -- come to an end when Scripture was complete(13:8-10).
10. Next comes prophesying (14:1). [All Scripture teaches that prophecy is direct revelation from God (2 Pet 1:21), and while the New Testament was being completed, God was giving direct revelations to the churches through prophets. We now have the written Word, and no true prophets.]
11. Unknown tongues are now discussed (14:2-28) [The Church at Corinth was a Greek-speaking church and Jews and Gentiles all spoke Greek. Therefore there was no need for foreign languages and some of the Corinthian Christians were abusing this gift]
12. Paul makes it quite clear that he would rather speak 5 words of prophecy than 10,000 words in tongues (14:19) [This nullifies the wrong emphasis on tongues given by Pentecostals/Charismatics]
13. Paul makes it quite clear that emphasis on tongues is childish (14:20).
14. Paul forbids women to speak in tongues publicly (14:34).

hanging out. my cousins still are in the faith. note: not all Jews are biologically are jews. a faith.my aunt is unable to work a lot, she has a mental condition. I guess she doesn't know torah. oh wait she does. she is able to recite a lot of torah in Hebrew. she was born with a condition. she has no money outside what is in a trust for her or the state has given to her and what money she can earn..

jews who have money but don't practice but are wealthy
david ben gurion, father of modern isreal, an atheist,
Jonas salk, man whom cured polio, an atheist raised in the temple but left it

its not magic, it never was. but what I would know. its about how they invest it. does socialism mix with the bible well? most jews in America and in isreal are socialist.

sterotype much?. new York city is where my ancestors came through and then unto savannah, to Miami. we came to America via montreal and did so by large illegally from the Ukraine.my last name very well may mean Krimea. again forced into poverty. go and find a rabbi and ask this stuff.

the torah has a command to give and its not malachi 3 its in this manner. leave edges of the fields ungleaned for the poor, the father less and the widows.

the widows, did they doubt? the fatherless were abandoned, and the poor. its far more then just faith. like modern poverty its a lot of things.

Maybe consider that what we read in threads of this nature is a reflection of individual personalities, beliefs, practices, that inhabit our churches. This fracture, if you will, has been extant in the faithful in Christ since denominations were first born.
Jesus was not a Christian.
The problem with your statement here is that most people on this forum don't go to church, so it is not a reflection of the churches today.
