The destruction of the temple in 70AD, how do futurists deal with this?

2 Samuel 7:5 kjv
5. Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith the LORD, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in?
6. Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.
7. In all the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel spake I a word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, Why build ye not me an house of cedar?
8. Now therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel:
9. And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.

God evidently had no desire for a temple from the beginning. Was one built by Solomon? Yes. Why?

God dwelt in a tent at that time. David thought it wasn’t right that he had a palace and God only a tent.

Types and shadows sometimes are hard to see.

The physical seems so real. The ultimate realities (I need a better phrase) are hidden from some.

The parable of the sower is the key, but it was given in private. Now we do it in public. I wonder at times if we know how to discuss types and shadows.

Jesus is the reality that casts the shadow.
Colossians 2:17 kjv
17. Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Eyes of understanding require prayers.

It’s really important to distinguish between a metaphor and reality. Parables are all in the metaphor category (or similar.) They are a type. The prediction and destruction of the Jewish temple wasn’t. The snake on a pole was a type. Jesus on the cross wasn’t. Jesus spoke of the sufferings in hell. They’re weren’t a type.

We have to remember that the veil of the Temple was torn from top to bottom when Jesus was crucified and God does not dwell in temples made by hand as those who are Christ own are now the temple of God, Matthew 27:51; Acts 7:49; 1 Corinthians 3:16. It's only the Jews who want the temple built and to go back to sacrificing animals for their sins.
It occurred to me that animal rights activists will have a field day should that practice ever arise again. Can you imagine the priests wanting to kill an animal not for food even but just to appeases god? And the vegan-to-save-the-planet types ought to go out of their vegan minds. Ruining the planet by raising animals just to slaughter them in a religious ceremony!!! 😳

Was the destruction of 70-AD just one of the attempts to end some things, but not the whole main battle of all time?

eddif
The destruction of the temple with the whole Mosaic Covenant was the accomplished ending of that age. It wasn’t an attempt, it ended the whole ability of the religious Jews to practice the Mosaic faith.

It was also the fulfillment of the judgement Jesus predicted at his trial. It was the blood of all the murdered prophets laid on that generation who killed the Son. Those who had pierced Him actually were alive to see it.

I think the conversation ( reasoning together) is improving.
Joseph of Egypt was probably a type. (Deliverer)
The snake on the pole probably a shadow of things to come.

We do see through dark sunshades.

Some darker than others. 😬

What was the killing of some in Ezekiel
While
Delivering of those who sighed over the sins of Israel.

Ezekiel 9:4 kjv
4. And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.
5. And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity:
6. Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.
7. And he said unto them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain: go ye forth. And they went forth, and slew in the city.

It seems this is about 400 years before the coming of Jesus. The period of silence between the Old and New Testaments is the result.

This relates to the end of time when deliverance comes to some and hell awaits others.

I suppose because of the (type/shadow?) I keep repeating this scattering of good guy Jews. Got to have righteous men from nations for Pentecost.

What pagan worship? And I understand the Romans brought a pig in at some point or something similar. Or was it an idol of Caesar?
The roman destruction of Jerusalem & the Temple of Herod in 70 AD did not involve the required worship of any person's image by the jews.
The romans were to preoccupied slaughtering everyone to worry about anybody worshiping .

By August 70 CE the Romans had breached the final defenses and massacred much of the remaining population.

God's Word declares that one day this forced and protracted worship will happen.
I believe God will see His Word through in this regard

Rev 13:12
And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

Rev 13:12
And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
I asked for a scripture that says one man rules the whole world. This does not describe the job he is doing. It does not says he rules over the whole planet. And the word “earth” there is actually “land” which is a limited area and therefore local.

Yea it did although they weren’t cooperative. Caesar was worshipped as a god. The coins had his image and said “god” or “son of god” on them.

That was Gods judgement. The streets ran with blood as Revelation describes it. Bodies were floating on seas.

It already did. Caesars were worshipped as gods.
Rev 13:12
And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
I repeat, doesn’t say he rules the world and “earth” is a poor translation. The word is land.

You clearly do not understand what constituted worship to the ancient Jerusalem Jew of that period .
It had nothing to do with Caesar's coin .
Worship for the Jew occurred in one place , The Temple.
No Jew was ever forced to the Temple to worship Caesar there .
What historical text are you basing such a claim on?

So you understand the scripture as saying only a small portion of the world will be impacted by the tribulation ?
Are you sure about that ?

And yet you believe without a doubt that modern Jews (most of whom are atheists) will be gullible enough to worship a mere man who performs tricks? All
of them….

Do you believe Jesus was the Messiah? Because scripture says “his name will be Emmanuel” and that wasn’t his name. So scripture wasn’t fulfilled right?

No one in the Bible says “the Great Tribulation” as a designated period of time. Jesus says there would be (adjective not noun) “great tribulation.” It was God’s judgement on that generation and would never be seen in the earth to any nation again. The “tribes of the land” were the Palestine inhabitants.

Again “earth” is really “land” and local.

You are not answering the first question I asked concerning your claim that the Ancient Jews were forced to worship Caesar at the Temple?
What historical texts are you basing this claim on ?
Lets take care of that question first and then I will be more than happy to answer any question you have to follow.
Do we have a deal ?

So it is your understanding there is no "designated period of time" that the " beast will be allowed to rule .
The beast sets his own schedule to rule as long as he pleases
An interesting theory. but you do realize there is nobody else here who believes such a thing ?

Regarding the word "earth."
For the Israilites, the land of Israel is the whole earth. When people visit Israel they are going to "The Land of Israel" but the land of Israel does not cover the whole globe and neither did the flood. Let the Bible explain itself.

In Exodus 10:5 a plague of Locusts "covered the face of the whole earth."
Quite clearly the locusts did not cover the whole globe, they only covered the land of Egypt and then probably not all of it.

In Numbers 22:5,11 we read that after the Israelites were delivered from Egypt and settled in Canaan they "Covered the face of the earth."
This is simply their way of saying they occupied the land in which they were dwelling.

When Cain went to the Land of Nod the Bible says "Behold thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth." (Gen 4:14) The earth for him was the place where he lived.

When the devil tempted Jesus he took him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. The kingdoms of the world were what they could see i.e. local. (Matthew 4:8)

The same idiom is used to describe the Israelite conquest of Canaan,
Deut 2:25 This day I will begin to put the dread and fear of you on the peoples who are under the whole heaven, who shall hear the report of you and shall tremble and be in anguish because of you. Incas and Inuit weren't trembling in anguish, it was the people in the region, Canaanites Moabites and Edomites.

When the Bible talks about the whole land or the face of the earth, it means the land or the earth of Israel and not the whole globe. Noah did not go to Australia to collect kangaroos, or to the North Pole to collect penguins. The animals that went into the ark were local to him.

In Exodus 10:5 a plague of Locusts "covered the face of the whole earth."
Quite clearly the locusts did not cover the whole globe, they only covered the land of Egypt and then probably not all of it.
