Strengthening families through biblical principles.
Focus on the Family addresses the use of biblical principles in parenting and marriage to strengthen the family.
Read daily articles from Focus on the Family in the Marriage and Parenting Resources forum.
Well I just about laughed out loud. (I am not alone in the room and the other person is working.) Ed, you can ask me questions but I am far from being an expert. I know a little.
Thanks, never knew what those terms meant.Been away Oz.
Owe you a pm too.
This is also for @ediff
Here's a very simple explanation for the two expressions; which are not found in the bible.
MONERGISM stands for mono,,,one.
God does everything in the salvation process for each individual He chooses to save. This is calvinism.
SYNERGISM stands for syn...together.
Man cooperates in his salvation process.
You always give Aminianism as the opposite.
Arminian was calvinist in many ways so I've never agreed that it is the opposite. How about using the word PROVISIONIST as the opposite of CALVINISM? God provides for us.
I'd start with the doctrine the CC teaches and see where it originates.
The Catechism is based on biblical verses and also teachings of the doctors of the church.
Yes, I think this thread will be started...
No they are not.
I wonder if it’s against the TOS toThe Catechism of the Catholic Church (Latin: Catechismus Catholicae Ecclesiae; commonly called the Catechism or the CCC) is a catechismpromulgated for the Catholic Church by Pope John Paul II in 1992. It aims to summarize, in book form, the main beliefs of the Catholic Church.
John Paul II is a man.
We don’t need the beliefs of the Catholic Church. We need the teachings of Jesus Christ Himself, through His Apostles that He Himself ordained as Apostles, by the Holy Spirit.
Followers of Christ have the Bible and the Holy Spirit.
We follow the doctrine of Christ, not the Catechism of John Paul.
Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 2 John 9
But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. 1 John 2:27
I love Catholic people. I hate the teachings of Catholicism because it leads people who are hungry for God, away from Him.
Just like I hate the teachings of Calvinism, or the Watch Tower, or a plethora of other “teachings” that lead people to depart from the Faith in Christ; thus departing from Christ.
Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,
1 Timothy 4:1

I wonder if it’s against the TOS to
say you dislike the teachings of some people.
This thread has some aspects that really need the different boxes to be explained.Theology is the study of God.
Does God show us a formula for how to be saved?
Is this formula found in the Old Testament?
The New Testament?
What do you believe that formula to be?
Would an almighty God even have a formula?
Is it very narrow and allows only a few into salvatiìon,
or is it wider than we would think and allows for more to be saved?
Personally, I believe it's wider than we think.
Jesus stands at the door and knocks...
Jesus is God.
God is knocking...
What if someone opens the door but has never heard of Jesus?
What about those before the bible was written?
Could they be saved?
Romans 1:18-20
18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
19because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.
20For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.
What does the above mean anyway?
Are we Christians brain-washed into being too narrow-minded?

Me too but if the demons have the name of a church it’s not allowed to speak against them. They must be treated with respect here, right?I hate doctrines of demons… and the doctrine of the Nicolatians.
Thus you also have those who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. Revelation 2:15

Although the CC wandered from its original teachings, I'd have to say that most are biblically based.
That is pretty good, but your right hand took a hammer and whacked the left knee. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (Latin: Catechismus Catholicae Ecclesiae; commonly called the Catechism or the CCC) is a catechismpromulgated for the Catholic Church by Pope John Paul II in 1992. They must be treated with respect here, right?
Not to mention giving the church money so your relatives gets out of pergatory. Each person must study and give an account to the Lord, for what they themselves have both taught and practice.
Personally I would hate to be in the shoes of someone who lived their Christian life, bowing down before statutes of Mary, and praying to dead “saints”.
JLB
You can state if you believe a person is incorrect if done in a respectful manner.Me too but if the demons have the name of a church it’s not allowed to speak against them. They must be treated with respect here, right?
I mean that’s not MY position but the one here. No one is to be told they are wrong, not even demons.
This thread went pretty good till the discussion half way through, when the catholics whack the Protestants.
The “they” are false teachers. We to treat everyone including demons with respect on this site. No false teacher is to be told that they “are wrong.” That is verboten here.I hate the false teaching and love the people.
Who do you mean by “they”?
The person who is promoting the false teaching?
The demon who inspired the doctrine?
We are to love people, but hate evil.
It’s a balance for sure.
What does a Preterist expert teach?
That all the Bible is “past”?
JLB

Saying You're Wrong in a derogatory manner, just causes arguments and nothing is gained.
