Agreed.Well, as long as we hold up
our end of the covenant, there’s relationship. A covenant always has requirements or obligations on BOTH sides.
If one is saved by faith instead of by grace, I’m wondering faith in what. Does it matter???? What are you trying to say?
But we are not saved by faith. We are saved by God's graceIf one is saved by faith instead of by grace, I’m wondering faith in what. Does it matter?
He justifies the circumcision by faith (Romans 3:30, kjv).Of course we are. As I commented to jaybo - we are saved by God's grace. Period!
Through faith - not by Faith.
If we were saved by Faith then we would be saving ourselves.
Faith in Jesus Christ (John 6:47) and what He did for you on the Cross (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).If one is saved by faith instead of by grace, I’m wondering faith in what. Does it matter?

Is forgiving others necessary?@heartwashed:. Faith in Jesus Christ (John 6:47) and what He did for you on the Cross (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).
Did Jesus preach three salvations? If you lose the first, are the other two gone? What if you lost the last?I think it depends on what is meant by salvation. There are three dimensions to salvation -past, present and future.
In was referring to our initial Justification which brings us into a covenant relationship with God.
What’s the difference between faith in faith and faith in the truth? How does a person know which they have? Jesus says many would come to him having had faith and he sends them away. Did they have faith in their faith? He justifies the circumcision by faith (Romans 3:30, kjv).
Exactly!! Well said. Those have faith in the Gospel OBEY Jesus’ teaching. Those who have faith in their faith don’t.Only those who obey Jesus Christ will receive eternal salvation, which is what saved by grace through faith means.
The obedience of faith.
And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him. Hebrews 5:9

“If you love me you’ll keep my teaching.” You might love the gift but with that theology the love for the Giver cannot grow. The focus is too much on what you believe you got.It is an interesting concept in holy scripture that we are not saved through our obedience but that we are saved by the grace of God in our lives in giving to us an obedient heart.
Salvation is purely the gift of God.
Did Jesus preach three salvations? If you lose the first, are the other two gone? What if you lost the last?
You used the term “initial” which by definition has to mean there is a second one after the “initial” one. Calling me names won’t change that. Might want to think about your “secondary” salvation (the one after the “initial” one.)I think it depends on what is meant by salvation. There are three dimensions to salvation -past, present and future.

So faith is not necessary, an optional extra, or ?But we are not saved by faith. We are saved by God's grace
Hi MungoI'm a bit late to this and have only skimmed through the posts.
But yes, God has given us a "formula" and I'm surprised no-one has quoted this.
Jesus said "He who believes and is baptized will be saved" (Mk 16:16)
He also told the apostles to "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you" (Mt 28:19-20).
That does not mean that is the only way one can be saved. God is sovereign and can save whoever he wants to and for whatever reasons he chooses. But that is the way he has given us and we cannot do it our way.
