You will be, probably sooner than you realize. Again, your life is but a breath compared to eternity, a mere mist that appears for a short while then vanishes.

"but a fool flaunts his folly."

I played with the ESV.

That's going over the line toward personal attack there. I object.
If you are a Prophet then you MUST preface your prophecy with, "Thus saith the Lord to the one who calls him/herself Sparrowhawke, "You will be on your deathbed sooner than you realize if you don't honor my Prophet Heidi."

Else I will not apologize as I treat your comment as it deserves.

Here Heidi, since you didn't address this:

Please, tell me, what is the difference between a teacher in grade 1 and a university professor? You keep on falsely using Matt 23:10 as though it somehow supports your nonsense. However, since you are using that to go against teaching in university, then in order to be consistent, you must also use it to go against all teachers--kindergarten, elementary, etc. I could probably even throw in pastor, Bible teacher, and Sunday school teacher, since none of them are Jesus.

Did you finish high school? Were you home-schooled?

Telling people they're going to die is considered a personal attack? :o That's a fact, friend. Tomorrow isn't guaranteed to any of us which is precisely why Jesus tells us to be ready.

But what IS a personal attack is claiming that I have distorted scripture when all I've done is quote it. So you need to stop making false statements about me because I disagree with you. It's unproductive and goes nowhere.

I don't want it to be "pick on Heidi" day here so if nobody objects...

<Sparrow pauses and listens for objections> No? Okay.

My education level is low. I have graduated 8th Grade. I have not graduated High School.
Question: Who is my Teacher? Can it be? Is it possible that my only and best "teacher" is the Holy Spirit and further is it possible that I am being instructed to seek peace even now, even at this very second?

The Holy Spirit is the same Spirit with which the bible was written so the indwelling Holy Spirit will never disagree with the word because they are one in the same. Once we become born again we receive the seed of God inside of us which is also the word. Colossians 3;16, "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom..."

So since God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are all one, then they are also the Word which means that they will never disagree with each other and can never be separate from each other.

Therefore, once you literally live on the word as Jesus tells us in MT. 4:4, then it will be much easier to distinguish between the truth and lies that secular teachers tell you. You will thus only be living by the Word of God. :-)

Not a "personal attack" but your words, "You will be, probably sooner than you realize," are "going toward personal attack," as I have correctly stated.

Shall I call an arbitrator to settle this? Or would you like to. I have not falsely accused anyone here. Kindly correct me if I have.

Pardon me a second - reporting this to see who's going off the line. Look at my statement with the same scrutiny you use when defending yourself. What was said is NOT: "You have attacked me personally," what was said IS: "That's going over the line toward personal attack there." You have changed my words to suit your purpose and have distorted my statement(s). I continue to object.

Good question, Free. I wonder too.

I could die tomorrow and I need to remember that as we all do. So it's no more a personal attack on you as it is on me. In fact, it's one of the most important issues that Jesus was trying to tell us; be ready.

Free is simply angry that he had no scripture to back up his beliefs and he's looking to attack me for it. I want no part of that game because it's destructive. Attacking someone can't change one word in the bible so it's a waste of time. But we all need to understand that tomorrow isn't guaranteed to any of us as James 4:13 explains as well as Jesus himself.

And I consider the direction of this thread as a personal attack on the ToS.

Please check those guns at the door please.

Lord? I would ask that you restore us in Grace toward each other. That any harsh words or unkind statements (mine included) be covered by Mercy (supplied by You) and that we as brothers (sisters) in You are restored to right place before You.

Your amen is all that is needed here and I'm hoping that we can continue to discuss the topic while we grow in grace and peace toward each other. Let it be a work that You accomplish in each heart.

:amen

Give us a "higher education" in love --that we who consider your Longsuffering as our salvation also consider the necessity of keeping and using that very same quality amongst each other. I certainly don't want to go away from this thread without asking You to soothe us and reveal to each one more of what You have for us. Teach us, Lord --not to say "lord, lord" to you, as they who hear your word but don't act on it, but to say, Yes, Lord --as those who hear and obey.

Heidi,

ToS means the Terms of Service to which we all agree when we join the Forum.

I understand what you are saying. 40+ years ago I withdrew from a M.S. program at a University because of convictions similar to your Op. It was like Moses leaving behind his education in the Egyptians learning.

Many of our fellow members of the Body of Jesus do not believe, feel or understand this matter, yet they believe that Jesus died for their sins, was buried and rose again the third day for their justification with God.

The brethren in Jerusalem, who were members of the educational society there, did not understand why Paul dropped out of their program. Yet 20+ years later Paul shaved his head and took the purification vow with them that some of them might be reconciled.

I do not know how many years you have felt the way you do, but the day will come when you will feel like Paul felt when he returned to Jerusalem for the last time; knowing that by going there to help his fellow members of the Body of Jesus, that he was being exposed to suffering.

It appears that most on the various forums, including this one, do not feel the way we do concerning the relationship between the grace of God in our Lord Jesus Christ, and human philosophy and religious deceit. Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. KJV

Those who feel no danger at the tree of knowledge, do not understand that Jesus Christ crucified is not only the power of God to justify us through Jesus' blood, but it is also the wisdom of God whereby we are saved from sin. We cannot serve two masters, two educational processes.
1 Cor 1:23-24
23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. KJV

If our educational process does not save us from our sins, then our faith is vain and we are of all men most miserable. Matt 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. KJV

We are saved from our sins through the power of the resurrection. Without the power of the resurrection in our lives our faith is vain and we are still in our sins.
1 Cor 15:17
17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. KJV

Your fellow member of the Body of Jesus our Lord,
Joe

Excellent post, Joe. If we do not know the whole bible, nor live on the word of God, then we will be easily deceived by the lies of Satan. In fact, that is why so many people who claim to be Christians buy into the lies of evolution, the narcissism of self-esteem, the selfish ambition of the world, the dog-eat-dog mentality of the world and can lose the faith entirely by not even knowing things like the fact that homosexuality is a sin! In fact, the ELCA just voted to support homosexuality and even making practicing homosexuals leaders in the church! They're doing that under the guise of "love' when it's not love to entice people to sin and adopt the beliefs of Satan so they can go to hell.

So the more we are deceived into listening to university professors, secular scientists and the secular media instead of God alone, the farther away from the bible we will turn. :(

:nono

Joe and Heidi, you two are doing a great disservice to Christianity through the twisting and misleading of Scripture. I really wonder how it is that people go so against Scripture and 2000 years of Christian history and think they're right, and everyone else is wrong. This is quite unbelievable.

And Joe, with at least a bachelor's degree, you really should know better.

If you consider pointing out your error as attacking you, then yes, I am very much attacking you. If you consider me asking you questions which show the contradictions in what you say, then again, yes, I am attacking you. I can provide Scripture to back me up but with the way you twist it, it is absolutely useless to do so. Anyone can go back through the history of every post you have made, in these forums and in others, and see that that is in fact the case. I'm not attacking you, just stating fact.

I have asked you some questions which you have thus far refused to answer. For the third time:

Please, tell me, what is the difference between a teacher in grade 1 and a university professor? You keep on falsely using Matt 23:10 as though it somehow supports your nonsense. However, since you are using that to go against teaching in university, then in order to be consistent, you must also use it to go against all teachers--kindergarten, elementary, etc. I could probably even throw in pastor, Bible teacher, and Sunday school teacher, since none of them are Jesus.

I also asked you the following, although I can't find where:

Who started universities and why? What was the main premise that modern science is based on?

For someone whose higher education is only from God, these should be easy to answer.
