The only Higher education

no, i know they are, shoot so are pastors, prophets and so forth its called being human, In my post i said that science is a tool only as good or evil as the person using it, and like all things facts and statistics can be manipulated.

Anthropology used for the glory of God , a hindu when he or she hears that we are christians has certain predujices because of they way the Brits treated them, and we must take that into account, Learn and understand why the hindu believes what they belief and they also feel that if they become a christian they will feel like they have abanded their country.

That being said our approach must be different than the usual you are sinner and on your way to hell, it must be a relationship then be gentle and estabish a rapport that we care and want them to know jesus, may be help them with the car, lawn, etc. Is this bad, no, They will reject you if you dont come like manner, does this work on every hindu, no, but like at witnessing it must be lead of the lord.

Science can be used for the glory of the Lord here, that's my point.

perhaps i shall start a post and invite the atheists to point out that this true, most early modern scientist were creationist and christians and came up with the scientific method, and other things.

maybe i will.

Again, science can only be used for the glory of the Lord when scientists don't contradict God. Then we are still only learning from Christ. :thumb

I am a believer in a higher education. You wouldn't have light bulbs, telephones, electronic Bibles, water purification plants, sewage plants, the ability to communicate with other believers by electronic mail, etc. if someone hadn't gone to higher learning institutions. I think what Heidi is referring to is...
1 Timothy 6:20  O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:There are some dangers of being influenced by secular dogma (evolutionary theory, big bang theory, etc.) in a university, but a person can run into that outside those institutions also.
I appreciate Heidi's zeal for wanting to stick to God's way...but she should be careful about going overboard. The right perception of God's will is not necessarily just all out zeal. In order to build a house of God, (a church) ...you need a carpenter...an architect...an electrician...a plumber...etc.
What I am saying is that God is not against getting an education. Even the one's that did all the gold work for the tabernacle were tradesmen.
Love God with all your heart...but be careful about leaning unto your own understanding. Some Christians miss this. Overzealousness can be damaging...just like underzealousness can. The idea is to be in tune...with what God wants...not just zealous ideas.
Here is an example of zeal ...without listening to God.
Romans 10:2  For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.3  For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
4  For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
THE POINT IS, GOD DOES NOT WANT ONLY YOUR ZEAL. HE WANTS YOUR ATTENTIVE SPIRIT TO DISCERN HIS ....WILL... NOT OUR OWN ZEALOUS IDEAS.

Hope I didn't misinterpret this thread at all.

no i was thinking to mention that as well.

Anyway, Heidi
I love your zeal...but learn the wisdom of God also. That has to do with, knowing when we are wrong, knowing when we should listen, and knowing when we should act. Any good Christian is more interested in what God truly wants versus only being right in any argument. I'm praying for some wisdom for you to go with the zeal...because zeal alone...without wisdom...can be like clubbing someone on the head...that you should be showing understanding to.

Since I am interested in what God wants then I always believe His word. And he tells us not to put our trust in man in many verses. So I believe him and neither you, nor any human can keep me from believing him. Sorry. :wave

His altar can be made of dirt or of stone.

The gates of hell cannot prevail against our Rock.

Consider the characteristics of a Rock that has never had a human tool brought against it.

He told us that if we make his altar out of stone, not to lift up a tool against the Rock.

We all need repentance, two yes even three times. When we are lifted up by the spirit to the 3rd heaven then we will hear and see that which is beyond all capacity of man to describe. Then the book is sealed within and without and we weep, with a sorrow that leads to a salvation that does not need to be repented.

I hope that all have heard these thoughts through the Scriptures. The testimony of Jesus has left them for our meditation. I did not reference their individual Scripture source.

The Word of God is the "true" higher education. Learning of the Father is the highest of all. Lower processes of education are good, but not purged from the spirit of the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. Education that is not sprinkled by the blood of Jesus results in the hardening of the heart of man. This is a mystery to the natural mind, but when God works this grace in the heart and mind, then he begins to reveal it to us by the Spirit of Jesus Christ. Then "all things" become new and continue to be new as we walk in the grace of God.

Gal 3:1-4
:1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

4 Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain. KJV

Again, good post, Joe. I've found very few who are willing to stand up for the word of God if they're in the minority. But that's the sign of the true Christian. Jesus tells us that few will find the narrow road. And you're as rare as I am. Zero scripture tells us to place our trust in man. But few care. I do and so do you. It's a blessing to see. :wave

So is humility...

So do you think that having less faith in God's Word is humility? :o Apparently so. :lol

Sorry friend, but wanting another Christian to have less faith isn't love; it's envy. None of us can take credit for God's word because we didn't write it, nor can we we take credit for the faith that God gives us because that was also determined by God. We should be thankful for one another's gifts, not try to tear them down out of competition and envy.

What? What are you talking about?

What was the motive for your response to my last post? why did you use the word 'humility"? :gah Why not a different word? :gah

Because there was a lack of humility...

So my response to you was correct that you assumed that I had a lack of humility. In that case, why did you say; "What are you talking about?" when you already knew what I was talking about? :gah Sorry, Free, but I don't like your games. They're easy to see through and destructive. So I'm not going to play along with them. I will expose them so we can have honest conversations. So it's better not to play them in the first place.

I am not playing games. Your previous response in question makes no sense. You are thinking I am making a point which I am not making.

Wrong. You admitted that your comment to me about humility was because you thought I showed a lack of humility. So my perception that you thought I had a lack of humility was correct. So once again, do you think that having less faith in God's word is humility? This time answer the question.

Ah, yes, there is one of the reasons which forced me to ask: what are you talking about? The other reason was: "but wanting another Christian to have less faith isn't love; it's envy."

I still don't understand how you think those questions have any bearing on what I said.

Anyway, long past time for this to end. I'm off to bed. Have a good night Heidi.

Why did you accuse me of lacking humility? What have I done except have faith in God's word not to trust in man? Mine and Joe's belief in those scriptures seems to be rare in this thread judging by all those who disagree with us. So my comment that we are rare is true. So you had better explain your accusation or I'll consider it a personal attack.

so let me get this right, i being a christian, are less bold then you or lest trusting in the Lord than you? You dont know me and i dont know you, only through the means of the internet do we communicate.
Have you been to war, worried that you may die, or seen the fellow soldiers serve drown in river, beg the Lord to save them, and none of them died. I guess that isnt trust.

Would you want a doctor to use only the bible when he or she goes in to repair or remove damaged organs, tissues, because only the bible is true wisdom, NO I'M NOT SAYING THAT THE BIBLE DOESNT HAVE WISDOM AT ALLOR ISNT THE ULMATAE REVALATION.IT ISNT MEANT TO BE A SCIENCE BOOK OR ANY OTHER THING THAN A LOVE LETTER FROM GOD. What I'm saying is that god gives gifts and abilities to man to be used for the blessing to man and ultimately the Lord, science is one of those things, and like all things man abuses it.

God gave us a mind and we can use it to reason and think, being an intellectual and in christ are not incompatible. Look at the apostle paul, he was taught by jewish scholars and he also understood the other cultures around him. Yet he did reason when it could be.
