Body, Soul, and Spirit

I've already addressed these passages. You keep saying that man is a spirit yet none of these passages say man is a spirit. I never said that man doesn't have a spirit in him, he does, it's God's. So, yes, the Holy Breath bears witness with our breath of life, However, that doesn't mean we are a breath.

The word spirit is metaphorical use of the word ruach or Neshamah, they literally mean wind or breath. Are you saying that man is breath, or wind?

Question, does man have breath or is he breath?

When the Scriptures talk about "our" spirit it refers to the spirit in a particular individual or group. It does't mean you are a spirit. I mean, if I say my truck, it doesn't mean I am a truck, I have a truck. If I say my dollar, it doesn't mean I am a dollar, I have a dollar. If I say my spirit, it doesn't mean I am a spirit, I have a spirit.

God is Spirit.

Man is spirit.

Angels are spirit.

Man is created in the image and likeness of God.

you apparently are suffering because of whatever school started you in your direction, and use inaccurate translations to keep defending it. the book and the reviews are based on what Scripture really says, not whatever school you were led by says. Scripture trumps your school.

The school is the Scriptures.

"10 Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things? 11 Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? "

I'm not sure what you mean.

Hi Butch.
The word (spirit) is a word.
Words have definitions.
What is your definition of the word (spirit).
Do you use a definition in the (dictionary), or do you use your (own definition).
If you do use your own definition, then what it is.

God is Spirit.

Man is spirit.

Angels are spirit.

Man is created in the image and likeness of God.

Using this same argument, we can then conclude that angels are also made in the image of God and that God is also a physical being.

the words Jesus speak are often not understood, as He Himself says. (as I quoted)
it is why people if questioned say

no one can receive anything if it is not granted to them by the Father. not me, not you, not anyone.
That has nothing to do with what was asked.

That has nothing to do with what was asked.

it is a direct answer specifically to what you asked.

body, soul and spirit are not understood apart from revelation. someone else in the thread still doesn't get it. the Scripture provides the explanation why.

Your use of that passage has nothing to do with what was initially asked by Butch5 and nothing to do with the topic.

it is a direct response and part of the answer to this and several other of his posts. (i've been following along for days, so i know)

Again, it has nothing to do with it.

I don't understand your lack of understanding ---- it is entirely pertinent and required to the understanding of the topic.
how can I, or you, or he understand anything heavenly if the earthly things are not understood ----
???
.... if "teacher of Israel" is what's confusing you, replace it with "IF EVEN A TEACHER OF ISRAEL (Jesus own words) " do not know these things, how then can ANYONE ELSE be expected to understand these things.

Jesus made the sure and certain point that no one no matter how well educated can understand what He Himself tells them about heavenly things if they cannot even understand earthly things
(like how to be born again) --- the TEACHER asked "how can a man be born again? can he re-enter his mother's womb"

10 Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things? 11 Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?

(maybe the verses following help with the context)
5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

Jeff, I'm not going to address your use of that passage after this. It is off topic and has nothing to do with the discussion. Please get back on topic.

Book looks really good. I'm gonna add it to my book list at home. Thanks Jeff. :)

please thank God with all thanksgiving and praise to His Name, as He saved me with that and a few other good books about the body of Christ and reality of Scripture in our lives
when many men and churches were quite literally driving me to insanity with their blatant white-washed hypocrisy !
