Contradicting Beliefs

The bible says Christ built His own church, He said "MY church", Mt 16:18, and the church is the body, Col 1:18, there is one body, Eph 4:4 and Christ is the Saviour of that one body, Eph 5:23. So no one outside that one body can be saved for Christ is the Saviour of His one body and no other bodies.

It was not my intent in this thread to point who is or is not in that one body, but to point out there are thousands of religious groups but the bible says there is one body and that thousands do not equal 1. So only one out of thousnads varying groups can be that one church, one body. Nowhere does the bible teach that Christ established thousands of different churches with different, contradicting doctrines. All these groups may claim they are that one body but it is no way possible all can be that one body.

I don't see anywhere in scripture where my individual salvation and membership in the Body of Christ has anything to do with which church I attend.
Example: Were there individuals in the church at Galatia that were not saved and others who were? Same goes for the other churches in the other towns and cities.

Our salvation and membership in the Body of Church is based on our personal relationship with Jesus not the church or denomination we claim.

Born again Christians are children of God, adopted into His FAMILY, thus brothers and sisters in Christ!!!

Deborah:

Yes, it's a basic, Acts 2 principle: 'they that gladly received His Word were baptised': they publicly declared their testimony in this way and then they were added to those who gathered together as Christians. They did not meet with Christians in order to receive rites and 'membership' so that they might supposedly in this way become Christians. Otherwise, this would reduce the new birth (John 3) to the supposed effect of the application of rites.

We may be certain that when the Lord adds the saved to the church it is His church, the one identified by scripture, and He never makes the mistake of adding one to the (or a) wrong church, but only His. In fact there were no denominations then, all such have been invented and added by men, not Jesus nor His Father.

well, what's the difference between one church and thousands of religious organizations?

The difference is Christ established just one church/one body and not thousands. So all those organizations, except for the one Christ established, are man made inventions of which Christ is NOT the Head of nor the Saviour of for He is the Head and Saviour of His one body/one church.

And you've already said all this I don't know how many times.
I assume by your answer that we can be saved without believing what the Church of Christ believes.

A person cannot be saved without believing what the bible says. No one in the church of Christ determines how one is saved but the bible determines that.

your right you helped prove my point... no doubt we should guard the pulpit ..but in most cases the only thing guarded is man made doctrine..... my self i will not attend a service where it has to be there flavor and there flavor only . i am not afraid of out side ministry.. you been taught c o c is the only way.

The church of Christ does not have its own doctrine, the church goes by what the bible teaches. For eaxmple, the bible teaches and the church of Christ believes that in order for one to become a Christian he must believe, repent of sins, confess with the mouth and be water baptized for remission of sins, Jn 3:16 Lk 13:3,5 Rom 10:9,10 Acts 2:38 Can anyone show that there is another way to become a CHristian? No. So he bible determines how one is saved and not the church of Christ. Baptist preachers do not detemine how man is saved.

can you say beyond a shadow of doubt co c is the established church?

Yes for all people has to do is make simple comparisons between what the bible says about the church Christ established in Acts 2 in how it was organized, how it worshipped, what it taight and compare it to where they attend.

For exmple, as I just posted in my last post that church Christ established taught and believed that in order for one to become a Christian he must believe, repent of sins, confess with the mouth and be water baptized for remission of sins, Jn 3:16 Lk 13:3,5 Rom 10:9,10 Acts 2:38

So if a person belongs to an organization that does not teach what Christ's church did on this issue then that organization is not that church Christ established.

Another example is that first century church did not use IMs in worship, so if an organization uses IMs they are not that chirch Christ established (this one alone would eliminate 99.9% of organizations)

The first century church did not have a Pope, nor teach such things as eternal security, original sin, total depravity or faith only. This would eliminate large numbers of organizations as being that church Christ established.

Grace, Love, Mercy and Peace. Those connected to Christ understand this and it's all they need.

Really? From your postings it appears you follow the teachings of Jason Jackson among others

Hi Reba

I'm a member of the church of Christ. I'm a convert out of the world and out of denominationalism, and I've never (until your last post) heard of this Jason Jackson. Jesus I know and Paul I know but who is Jason? It could be we are of the same "precious faith", I do not know. The Bible tells who Jesus is, and what to do to be saved and provides the earmarks of identification of the church. All one needs to be saved and go to heaven is the Bible: ''THE BIBLE ONLY MAKES CHRISTIANS ONLY."

Webb, Some of the members here say they are of cofC and that it is THEE one true Church.... If that is so why would you not know what they believe, who they put there trust in, for interpretation of Scripture etc. and vice versa?

Webb did you read the article? and see who posted it?

We follow the teachings of Christ. we follow no other men...

1Cor 3:4 (NKJV)
4 For when one says, “I am of Paul,†and another, “I [am] of Apollos,†are you not carnal?

1Cor 1:10-15 (NKJV)
10 Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and [that] there be no divisions among you, but [that] you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. 11 For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe’s [household,] that there are contentions among you. 12 Now I say this, that each of you says, “I am of Paul,†or “I am of Apollos,†or “I am of Cephas,†or “I am of Christ.†13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? 14 I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, 15 lest anyone should say that I had baptized in my own name.

You see Reba? when men follow men (and creeds of men) they have division.

According to your posts and those of Ernest T Bass you are not in agreement. You are divided.. From what I got out of ETB post, he believes the teachings of Jason Jackson over the plain reading of the verses in acts I had posted...

Act_2:45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. ETC

You see Reba? when men follow men (and creeds of men) they have division.
exactly you have well made the point

Reba, your doing a very poor job of trying to make someone look bad and you should quit that already, it is not Christian like, the man that wrote the article you speak of teaches the Bible, because the man believes the same Bible as I do does not mean I follow the man, but the man and I follow the same Bible...

Reba--Guess I missed that post. My time is very limited anymore. I do know what the Bible teaches however.

The post I am speaking of puts the words of a man over the plain words of Scripture.

Peter had a house, so you must not understand Acts 2:45...

Matt 8:14 (NKJV)
14 Now when Jesus had come into Peter’s house, He saw his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever.

The context of Acts 2:45 was there were those that had come for a short stay and stayed longer, some that lived close and had plenty and all helped each other and had fellowship...

Your trying to be divisive and its not working and making you look bad Reba.

Divisive with who? You have stated in a few different ways if a person doesn't agree with you( or the teaching of cofC ) they are hell bound and you call me divisive?
