V5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

Love is the application of the prophetic (for one thing). If you have spoken to someone in their tongue the thing needed to be done, but not accomplished God's eternal will in their life; then love is not shed abroad in their life yet.

Romans 5:9
Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

While justification occurs in our mind (Romans 7:25) the change in the flesh occurs at the last trump. Thus Paul's Philippians comments.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

God, through the prophets, promised salvation and accomplished it through his Son Jesus. When you get to I Corinthians 13 , love is the application of eternal life or associated discipline to turn one from overtaking sin. Love is not just sweetness, but includes tough love. Faith may accomplish good works, but love works eternal life (using rod and staff). Prophecy may promise, but love addresses the belief necessary.

Hebrews 11:16 takes the gospel to those in Abraham' Bosom that they might have salvation in Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 11:16
But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

They had the gospel presented by Jesus, and now await a better ressurrection. In their life they dealt with shadows; listening to Jesus they heard the one who cast the shadows. The first fruits spoke.

Is the mystery the gospel as it alludes to in the previous chapter in Colossians?

Maybe people are asking about it because when presented 1). it's too watered down 2). or it's not preached at all. It's my experience anyway, for the most part, people's views and dissatisfaction regarding Christianity are over the behavior of people who call themselves such, not the message itself.

Presently I'm in the hospital with a mystery of my own. I'm loosing blood somewhere. They'll find out I'm sure....Our mystery here in this thread is going to lead us on a very interesting journey. There is something in the wonderful heart of God that I'm hoping that we can discover together.

My initial thought was, sort of in prayer, I asked God, "why did you create mankind, what was You after?" After some time just being quiet, It seemed to me that He wanted me to find an answer in Colossians, thus the mystery.

Apparently, there are some answers in that wonderful Book of Colossians. Perhaps it will be a starting point in our journey.

Thank you so very much for that anointed song of praise. I felt the presence of the wonderful Holy Spirit as He ministered to my heart. I really needed that Reba, as Today was a very hard day physically. As always, you came to my rescue.

I think key words are " be encouraged in heart and united in love".

1 John 4:11-14 This is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another. Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brother's were righteous. Do not be surprised, my brothers if the world hates you. We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. Anyone who does not love remains in death.

We can disagree, but hate is not allowed in our club. Love can have arguments, but love never fails. I hate that I have to know the pain of what the spirit of Cain looks like. My heart breaks. My own family except myself has this spirit. My mother hates my father, my mother hates my sister and my father hates my sister, my sister hates my mother and my sister hates my father.

O my dear Sister. I'm so sorry that your family is torn apart by hatred. Physically, I'm not doing very well. Spiritually, I'm alive and well. I'm going to pray for your family for a few days. I'm in the hospital and will have some time to seek the Lord for a change in your family, just because you love the Lord.

God has not been silent in the fact that His ways and His thoughts are not our ways and thoughts. He even says that they are past finding out. Hmm, lets see how close we can come to some terrific knowledge.

I have noticed lately, in the sphere of my influence, that people have more spiritual questions than ever before. Have you experienced that? I wonder why? There are those who, for what ever the reason, want more faith. Others are craving the fullness of the Holy Spirit. A man said, "I want more of the Holy Spirit", I could have said to him, "the Holy Spirit wants more of you!"

I have noticed in our Forum that there are folk who wonder about being sure of their Salvation. Hey Gang, lets have some fun with this thread and compile what we do know about this mystery that the Apostle Paul wrote about in Colossians 2:2 "being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ."

What exactly is this mystery, and is this why there are so many questions today? I am using Colossians Chapter 2 as my Text.

The mystery is of God In Jesus Christ, Reconciling world unto Himself through Christ, who is the wisdom and knowledge for the reconciliation and redemption of all men (Jew and Gentile) into one body as one new man married to Christ as His body. Christ being the Head of that body in love, even as a man shall cherish his wife and become as one to be received up in glory to all who believe by faith. Saved from the wrath of God to come upon all the evil and disobedient in due time.

Oh, no Chopper! Sorry to hear you've got a mystery going on there. I pray the doctors find out what's going on and you're back home in no time.

If you're about to lead a study, teaching God's Word, we should pray for your protection from the enemy - those prayers are being said as well.

It is great to see one make the effort, these days, to make God Special when they publish a thing to the web. Early on I determined to always use a capital letter on His nouns and pronouns.

I am so disappointed with our youth today and the influence a stupid Texting App that has taught such disrespect to them. It is as though the words of God's Word had no real meaning to this generation and the one I am guilty of raising.

IMO, our mission as a believer in Christ Jesus is to reach or obtain all the riches of full assurance of understanding and knowledge of God's mystery. What is this mystery? Paul says it's Christ Jesus, Col. 2:2. To me, it's a mystery of why God created man....Why exactly do you think that God did create man?

Perhaps if we knew that mystery, more will come to the light.

I have put to rest any notions of "knowing God" in His Fullness->because He has no beginning or ending.

The Mystery of God will remain that way, eternally and forever.

If you rode a horse to the end of the pasture, and found a fence, that would be the end of your discovery. There is no fence to find, in God in Christ.

He Is The Eternal Unending Pasture.
