64 days have elapsed since beginning the topic on Mar 21, 2011.

Computing with the original factor of 2,669 responsible Americans transferring to perdition per each 24-hour civil day, suggests that 170,816 U.S. residents have passed through the gates of hades just since beginning the topic.

The world-wide total, based upon the original factor of 59,273 condemned souls per 24-hour civil day, suggests 3,793,472 total arrivals in perdition since beginning the topic . . . and the clock is still ticking.

I read an article in the Sunday, April 18, 2010 edition of the Portland Oregonian titled : Bullying Signs Often Ignored.

Most of us tend to think of bullies as thugs; but there is a category of bully even more insidious. This category doesn't use their fists, instead they use words, intimidation, and manipulation: are often intelligent and charismatic; and all display two common characteristics : (1) the need to dominate others and, (2) the need to have a following. In other words, these kinds of bullies have a natural propensity to despotism, tyranny, and narcissism.

When denied those two needs, and/or whenever someone dares stand up to them and refuse to fall in line, they become vindictive and bitterly resentful, and often carry out long-term campaigns of mental cruelty which can have tragic results. Six students at a Massachusetts high school so tormented 15 year-old freshman Phoebe Prince with months of taunts and threats that she subsequently hanged herself at home on January 14, 2010. In other words, the goal of non violent bullies is to destroy their target's self respect, their morale, and their reputation.

These kinds of bullies are a law unto themselves. In other words, if you don't see everything their way, you are a traitor to their own cause and subsequently prosecuted accordingly. These people are typically conceited and exceptionally intolerant. They simply cannot permit others to either live their own lives, nor to think for themselves; viz: they are malicious meddlers of the worst possible genre.

Webster's defines "malice" as: desire to cause pain, injury, or distress to another. Behaviors like chafing, needling, ridicule, heckling, mockery, demeaning comments, ugly words the tear people down rather than build them up, denigrating labels, smart-Aleck/Alice retorts, biting sarcasm, fault-finding, carping criticism, thoughtless remarks, petty ill will, spite, vindictiveness, and hounding and stalking are all malicious behaviors.

Spite is an especially hateful behavior. It's the propensity to irritate, annoy, or thwart; which is defined as : to defeat the hopes and aspirations of another. In other words, thwart's intent is to discourage someone, to break their spirit and make them lose respect for themselves. Needless to say, a spiteful person is so ugly at heart that they're unable to feel pity or sympathy for anyone but themselves.

The kinds of bullies I've been describing are not going to heaven. Why? Because heaven is a place of peace. Cruel-natured, despotic personalities are toxic; they cannot be allowed there. It wouldn't be fair to the others.

†. Mtt 5:9 . . Blessed are the peaceable : for they shall be known as God's kin.

FAQ : Doesn't Isa 33:10-18 teach that even the righteous are in Hell?

†. Isa 33:14-17 . .The sinners in Zion are terrified; trembling grips the godless : Who of us can dwell with the consuming fire? Who of us can dwell with everlasting burning?

. . . He who walks righteously and speaks what is right, who rejects gain from extortion and keeps his hand from accepting bribes, who stops his ears against plots of murder and shuts his eyes against contemplating evil— this is the man who will dwell on the heights, whose refuge will be the mountain fortress. His bread will be supplied, and water will not fail him. Your eyes will see the king in his beauty and view a land that stretches afar.

The "consuming fire" and the "everlasting burning" in that passage don't refer to the netherworld, but rather, they describe an aspect of the personal presence of God; and nowhere is that more graphically depicted than Ezek 1:1-28. (cf. Ex 19:16-18, 1Cor 3:13-15, Heb 12:29, and Jude 1:7)

Isa 33:10-18 refers to the Lord's future return when He will sift Yhvh's people to determine who enters Messiah's kingdom and who doesn't.

†. Ezk 20:33-44 . . As I live— declares the Lord God —I will reign over you with a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with overflowing fury. With a strong hand and an outstretched arm and overflowing fury I will bring you out from the peoples and gather you from the lands where you are scattered, and I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples; and there I will enter into judgment with you face to face.

. . . As I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I enter into judgment with you— declares the Lord God. I will make you pass under the shepherd's staff, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant. I will remove from you those who rebel and transgress against me; I will take them out of the countries where they sojourn, but they shall not enter the land of Israel. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.

Dwelling in fire and burning implies a "big brother" society where everything people do is under constant scrutiny. The righteous won't mind, but the wicked would never be happy in those circumstances.

A particularly endangered category of sinners are atheists and unbelievers who have made it one of their hobbies to go day after day on the internet harassing Christians, mocking their religion, criticizing their God, demeaning their holy book, and regarding Christ's odyssey as either no big deal or just plain stupid.

What some of them out there regard as haw-haw-haw and daily amusement, is taken by the Bible's God as adding insult to injury. I wonder if any of those mockers out there even have a clue what it's like to be a parent and have people make your own kid the butt of cruel remarks and thoughtless comments.

†. Ps 69:12 . .Those who sit as judges mock me, and I am the song of drunkards.

†. Rom 15:4 . .The insults of those who insult You, have fallen on me.

Some people can be very creative with their demeaning remarks. One of their favorites is the question : Do you believe Jesus tied his ass to a tree and walked into town? Another is their expression : Christ on a crutch. The variety is endless. And I can easily guess the childish excuse they'll offer in their defense: "I didn't mean anything by it"

Too bad because mockers are slated to answer for not only their serious words, but also their thoughtless words.

†. Mtt 12:36-37 . . I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by your words shall you be justified, and by your words shall you be condemned.

†. Jude 1:14-15 . . And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying : Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, to execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are irreverent among them of all their irreverent deeds which they have irreverently committed, and of all their hard speeches which irreverent sinners have spoken against him.

FYI : Websters' defines an "ass" as : any of several hardy gregarious African or Asian perissodactyl mammals (genus Equus) smaller than the horse and having long ears; esp : an African mammal (E. asinus) that is the ancestor of the donkey.

The hecklers of course use the little animal as a "double entendre" which Webster's defines as : a word or expression capable of two interpretations with one usually risqué.

BTW : the Lord didn't leave his perissodactyl mammal tied outside Jerusalem; but rode all the way in to town on so-called Palm Sunday.

†. Mtt 21:1-10 . . And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples, saying unto them: Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me. And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say "The Lord hath need of them" and straightway he will send them.

. . . All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying : Tell ye the daughter of Sion "Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass". (cf. Zech 9:9)

. . . And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them; and brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon. And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way. And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying : Hosanna to the Son of David— Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?

Who indeed?

†. Rev 6:15-17 . . And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; and said to the mountains and rocks: Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb : for the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

I think Weber makes a really excellent point here. Jesus spoke far more about hell than he did about heaven. There are many warnings in scripture about the wrath of God agains the wicked. So, I get the point. We as believers need to tell the "Whole Truth." There are many people who need to be told of Christs saving grace. But the question is why? Why do people need to be saved? What are they being saved from? Jesus' first words as he began to preach included repentance. Yes we reach people by our love too. That cannot be dismissed. Jesus reached people by loving them and caring about them. We will be judged by our actions of love towards one another and others. However, Jesus also warned of hell and his descriptions and other descriptions in the bible are very graphic. It is a place of eternal darkeness, pain and torment where there is wailing and gnashing of teeth. That sounds pretty bad to me and those are Jesus' words. So, part of Jesus' love and need to reach others to call them to repentance was motivated by his understanding of hell. He was not willing that any should perish, because he knew what hell was like and he loved us so much that he was willing to die for us to bring us to heaven to be with him and avoid hell.

Let's face it folks, there are those that cannot be loved into the kingdom. Some have to be scared there.

Strangely there appears to be an increasing number of arm-chair theologians wearing the Christian label who feel that discussions of hell are inconsistent with the koiné Greek word for "the gospel" which is euaggelion (yoo-ang-ghel'-ee-on) which means : a good message; viz : good news.

Probably the best news that a cancer patient could ever hear is that the chemo and/or the surgery was successful and they are now out of the woods with a new lease on life. Bear with me while I flesh this out.

At John 3:14-18, the Lord compared the necessity, and the efficacy of his crucifixion to the serpentary effigy that Moses constructed for Yhvh's people at Num 21:4-9 in order to counter the venom of a deadly species of vipers that God sent among His people to punish them for conduct unbecoming.

Long story short; the venom of the vipers was extremely lethal. Everyone bitten was doomed to die; no exceptions. The only God-given remedy was that serpentary effigy. Just as everyone bitten by a viper was doomed to die, no exceptions; so everyone who looked to the effigy was cured and restored to health; no exceptions.

Moral of the story is : hell is everyone's default destiny regardless of race, color, gender, age, country of origin, sexual preference, and/or religious affiliation. In other words : hell is not the option; no, eternal life is the option. Failure to look to the Lord's crucifixion as an escape from the wrath of God is just as fatal to one's afterlife situation as if someone failed to look to Moses' serpentary effigy as the one and only God-given anti-venom.

The good news is that the cross is successful in every case. It's a sure-fire, Ten Commandments-proof, God-proof, Devil-proof, church-proof, sin-proof, idiot-proof, 100% effective treatment; unlike chemo and/or surgery that's only successful for a lucky few.

†. John 5:24 . . I assure you, anyone who listens to my message, and believes in God who sent me, has eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life.

†. Gen 6:5 . .And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

It's freaky to contemplate that the Bible's God has a way to eavesdrop on not only one's mental processes but also one's heart processes; for it's out of man's heart that his thoughts originate.

†. Mtt 15:18-19 . . For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts

So then, it's not how your mind works that defines you, no, it's how your heart works that defines you; and a man's heart is easily capable of hoodwinking his own mind.

†. Jer 17:9 . . The human heart is most deceitful and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?

There is a part of us that psychology labels the subconscious; which in Freud's opinion is a repository for socially unacceptable ideas, wishes or desires, traumatic memories, and painful emotions put out of mind by the mechanism of psychological repression. However, the contents do not necessarily have to be solely negative.

In the psychoanalytic view, the subconscious is a force that can only be recognized by its effects— in other words : your mind's thoughts can be construed not as replicas of your hearts thoughts; but rather, as symptoms of your heart's thoughts.

The key word in the above is repression. God is somehow able to de-repress the contents of the human subconscious and submit them as evidence in the prosecution's case against the accused; and that's why I sometimes say only a fool would take their chances in court with the Bible's God. They have no clue the fecal storm they're walking into.

†. Luke 12:15-20 . . A man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions. And he told them this parable :

. . .The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop. He thought to himself : What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops. Then he said : This is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I'll say to myself : You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.

. . . But God said to him : You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have accumulated for yourself?

That is one of the futilities of success in this world. Everybody knows it, but moguls like Donald Trump, Steve Forbes, Bill Gates, and Warren Buffett never seem to take it to heart until they've got one foot in the grave.

I once heard a story about a very wealthy man who died. His surviving relatives were all called to the reading of the man's will while the media waited outside. When the reading was over, the media asked the man's kin how much he left. They replied : He left it all.

Yes, of course the man left it all; even the clothing he wore to his own funeral. The paintings of Gustave Doré, illustrating portions of Dante's Inferno, depict the damned 100% butt naked— with nary a stitch —as they should be because no doubt they are.

What would you be willing to trade in order to cheat death?

†. Mtt 16:26-27 . . For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? What shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

That question essentially asks : Is it possible to either purchase, or barter, an exemption from death? The answer is NO as there are no exemptions available at this time : so rich men like Donald Trump, Steve Forbes, Bill Gates, and Warren Buffett have no advantage over poverty-stricken illegal aliens sneaking into Arizona when their time comes to cross over to the other side.

I know of the Protestant pastor who was asked by Audie Murphy's widow Pamela to speak at her husband's funeral. Audie Murphy, as you may already know, was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner; but he wasn't a Christian.

In amazement, the pastor asked Mrs. Murphy why she chose a Christian to speak at her husband's funeral. Though Audie himself wasn't a Christian, his widow was; and she explained that the Hollywood crowd would be there the day of his funeral, and having hob-nobbed with them during her husband's acting career, she was fully aware that many of them rarely listened to something on the afterlife related to the Lord's crucifixion. Well . . that day they did, and were very annoyed too because they were expecting the usual sappy, feel-good kind of liberal bombast to which pampered celebrities are accustomed.

†. Ecc 7:4 . . The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.

Some may feel that Hell and eternal suffering aren't appropriate topics at a funeral. But I think that, other than Xmas and Easter, you couldn't pick a better time to bring them up, especially since the Lord said that the majority of the human race is ending up there (cf. Mtt 7:13-14, Mtt 22:14, and Luke 13:22-24) .

†. Ecc 7:2 . . It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of gaiety, for death is the destiny of every man; the living should take this seriously.

As I watched some of the splendor and pomp of President Gerald Ford's funeral back in January of 2007, I couldn't help but wonder if he was in a position to really appreciate it; as I suspect people in Hell would certainly no longer really care anymore whether they were given an unknown pauper's disposal in a City incinerator, or reverently placed in a grand tomb in the National Cemetery with world-wide television coverage.

Since the judgment of God is going be very thorough, and very fair, then it only stands to reason that there will be people losing their eyesight and possibly other of their capacities during that big day in court.

†. Ex 21:24-25 . . Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.

†. Lev 24:19-20 . . If anyone injures his neighbor, whatever he has done must be done to him : fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. As he has injured the other, so he is to be injured.

Going to Hell is bad enough, but to exist there deaf, dumb, blind and/or paralyzed is really the icing on the cake.

There's a rather obscure law in the Old Testament related to that principle and it goes like this :

†. Deut 19:16-19 . . If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him that which is wrong; then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before Yhvh, before the priests and the judges, which shall be at that time; and the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother; then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother.

So then, the penalty for perjury is the penalty that would have ensued had the accused been guilty. That law should produce some interesting scenarios at the Great White Throne of Rev 20:11-15.

I once heard a preacher spin a rather realistic yarn about a bus load of Hell's inmates who were issued a 30-day pass for R&R in Heaven. They all came back the very first night because Heaven had nothing to offer. There were no nude beaches, no free love, no wild parties, no fights, no porn, no vices like tobacco, gambling, prostitution and drugs; no exotic dancers, no democracy, no privacy, no freedom of speech, no separation of church and state, no casinos, and everybody had to go to the same church and sing the same hymns; plus: heaven's etiquette— its dress code, and its rules of conduct and civility —were way too strict. Especially suffocating was the mandatory self control everyone had to exercise in their choice of words to avoid hurting people's feelings.

In other words; Heaven's utopian society, coupled with its 24/7 Big Brother oversight, was just simply too much to ask in exchange for some time off. In their opinion : Heaven sucks. At least in Hell, nobody has to watch their language and/or keep a civil tongue in their head.

I whole heartedly agree! The good news is about salvation. Saved from sin, saved from hell. The good news is not about heaven on earth. There is too much sorrow, pain, suffering, trials, tribulation here. The Bible tells us that in this world we will have tribulation. So, the gospel is not about saving us from bad things happening to us on earth. Gods grace, love and peace will help us through those things not keep us from those things. However, the gospel saves us from the punishment of our sin, which is an eternal death and torment in hell. That is the gospel folks. The good news! The bad news is we are all doomed to hell and eternal separation from God. The good news is the we can be saved from that and have an eternal home in glory!

An intersting take on hell vs. heaven. I don't think in heaven anyone has to excercise self control because I believe being free from sin, all we will to do is Godly. Nor would we fear our words being misconstrued since no pride would exist in which ones feelings would be hurt.

I don't think in heaven anyone has to excercise self control because I believe being free from sin, all we will to do is Godly.
Self control is a fruit of the Spirit.

†. Gal 5:22-23 . .The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Webster's defines self control as : restraint exercised over one's own impulses, emotions, or desires.

People who speak impulsively; do so without thinking about their choice of words; viz : impulsive people are thoughtless.

Nor would we fear our words being misconstrued since no pride would exist in which ones feelings would be hurt.
I ran across a Jew some years back who truly believed it's impossible to hurt God's feelings because, he said, Yhvh has no feelings. Though the God in that man's mind may be an insensitive God, the God of Christianity is just the opposite.

†. John 3:16 . . For God so loved the world, that he donated His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Love, as it's depicted in that passage, contains the element of compassion; which Webster's defines as : sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together with a desire to alleviate it; viz : pity; which Webster's defines as : sympathetic sorrow for somebody that’s suffering, distressed, or unhappy.

A common Old Testament word for compassion is racham (raw-kham') and is said of God several times; for example :

†. Ps 86:15 . . But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion

Compassion is blessing-worthy.

†. Mtt 5:7 . . Blessed are the merciful

Compassion is at the heart of the Golden Rule.

†. Mtt 19:19 . .Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

What I'm getting at is that it isn't necessary to be infected with pride in order have your feelings hurt by thoughtless remarks. This, by the way, is an element of God's personality that is often overlooked by sinners. It's commonly believed that the Bible's God is a dispassionate jurist— somebody like Spock of Star Trek —an insensitive entity with no heart. Well, the Bible's God does have a heart, and feels the pain of every insulting comment that people make about Him because the God of the Bible is a God with feelings.

†. Gen 6:6 . . And The Lord regretted that He had made man on earth, and His heart was saddened.

†. Jdgs 10:16 . . And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served The Lord: and His soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

†. Ps 95:10 . . Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said : It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known My ways

†. Heb 3:17 . . But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness?

†. Eph 4:30 . . Don't grieve the Holy Spirit of God; with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

Note : the "wrath of God" is not a metaphor; no, it's a reality; which Webster's defines as : strong vengeful anger and/or indignation.

†. Mrk 3:5 . . And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man . . .

Numbers of people have been, and will be, going to Hell not only as retribution for their un-absolved sins; but also because God utterly despises them and hates their guts.

†. Heb 10:26-31 . . For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful anticipation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. Anyone who has despises Moses' law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know Him who said : Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, says the Lord. And again : The Lord will judge His people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

I know self control is a fruit of the Spirit. This self control the scripture refers to is in the context of controling carnal lusts pertaining to a corruptible flesh. In heaven we will not be corruptible so my point remains valid.

Webster's defines self control as : restraint exercised over one's own impulses, emotions, or desires.

So if ones impulses were Godly as the children of God's are, why should we restrain them? Why should we restrain Love and joy and the desire to see others happy?

People who speak impulsively; do so without thinking about their choice of words; viz : impulsive people are thoughtless.

What people speak comes form the heart. I do you no honor by showing any trepidation in how I might be misconstrued in what I say. To the pure of heart all is pure, to the unpure nothing is pure. Hence one cannot confide in those he must bite his tongue for. I have nothing wicked hidden in my heart that will be hidden from God. Nor would I entertain anything that would hurt my Father's tender heart, so I see no cause for the lecture on how God has feelings. He is Love after all.
Note : the "wrath of God" is not a metaphor; no, it's a reality; which Webster's defines as : strong vengeful anger and/or indignation.

I have no illusions about God's wrath. Scripture says His wrath is against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the Truth because they esteem God not as God and show a disregard for the Godhead. They also traded in the Holy and uncorruptible Image of God for a corruptible image as like a man. Therefore in full understanding of what that all means, I have pointed out that I believe in the Holy Image of God and of the holy people who will live in heaven. Perhaps you can explain why you find fault with me in this.

In thinking back over my 43 years of born-again experience, I'm pretty sure you're the only person I ever encountered who relegated the fruit of the Spirit to the level of a temporary expedient. I'm more inclined to believe that love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control are the nature of God and that people in Heaven exemplify His divine nature amongst themselves all the time. In other words; the people in Heaven are a peaceable folk.

†. Mtt 5:9 . . Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

I have no clue what makes you so sure that self-control is only useful for restraining sinful, carnal behavior when the Lord himself set the example by exercising a titanic degree of self control at a very key moment in his life.

†. Mtt 26:39 . . O my Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.

†. Php 2:5-8 . .Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus : who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to grasp, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross!

Self control then, contains the element of humility.

†. Mtt 5:5 . . Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

Moses was meek (Num 12:3) and the Lord was meek (Mtt 11:29, Mtt 21:5, Php 2:5-8). Personally I wouldn't categorize either of those two Israelite men as meek. So then, what really is meekness?

The koiné Greek word for "meek" in the third beatitude is praus (prah-ooce') which means : mild.

Webster's defines mild as : gentle in nature or behavior; viz : temperate; in other words : agreeable, approachable, reasonable, calm, mellow, and self-controlled. Non-temperate people could be characterized as moody, grudging, irritable, emotional, thin-skinned, unreasonable, and reactive; around whom people have to walk on egg shells all the time.

A temperate person, though mellow in demeanor, should never be assumed lacking in strength, courage, conviction, and/or self confidence. Anybody who's studied the lives of Moses and Jesus can easily testify that neither of those men were either timid, wimpy, or vacillating; no, they walked softly and carried a big stick.

Jacob and his dad Isaac were temperate men; but could be assertive when the situation called for it. Temperate people like Jacob and Isaac pick their battles carefully, and avoid getting all riled up over trifles. Can you just imagine the advantages of living in a global society composed entirely of temperate people? That alone makes Heaven a Nirvana to me.

You go to far in believing I am of a conviction that considers the fruits of the Spirit temporary. In heaven I believe we will possess or rather be possessed of these Godly virtues forever. As I recall I only questioned the uesfullness of self control and that pertaining only to carnal existence. I do not see why Love or any of the other fruits need be subdued or tempered. Pardon the semantics.

Christ was battling the prospect of being crucified. He understandably did not look forward to being tortured. How is this not relevant to a carnal existence? Surely you can understand I do not anticipate any crucifixions in heaven.

†.
Php 2:5-8 . .Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus : who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to grasp, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross!
Indeed all men should have the mind of Christ and perhaps someday will according to God's mercy. What have I said that would incline you to apply this advice to me? Have I spoken out of some carnal thought based on a corrupt image of God?

Self control then, contains the element of humility.
Pride goeth before a fall, so I doubt I will see it coming. Is it pride to think I am humble or humility to think I am proud? Again, humilty can only be applied to a carnal motive existing in a carnal nature. Love always serves and has no need of such admonition.
†.

Of all men born of the flesh no man was more righteous than John the baptist, yet the least in heaven will be more righteous than he. I like the way you speak. Your thoughts are well ordered and your reasoning sound. You appear knowledgable and it is a pleasure to have discourse with you. When I think of self control I envision things that need discipline. These things by my reckoning must be carnal in nature including the mind. As I don't see the carnal mind being allowed in heaven I view self-control as obsolete from this perspective. I of course may be wrong and heaven may not be as perfect as I imagine. Hope to talk more with you and discuss other aspects of theology.

Population Clock Update (40)

80 days have elapsed since beginning the topic on Mar 21, 2011.

Figuring with the original factor of 2,669 responsible Americans transferring to perdition per each 24-hour calendar day, suggests that 106,760 U.S. residents have passed through the gates of hades just since beginning the topic.

The world-wide total, based upon the original factor of 59,273 condemned souls per 24-hour calendar day, suggests 4,741,840 total arrivals in perdition since beginning the topic . . . and the clock is still ticking.

Through me; the way to the eternal city.
Through me; the way to eternal sadness.
Through me; the way to lost people.

Justice moved my supreme maker:
I was shaped by divine power,
By highest wisdom, and by primal love.

Before me, nothing was created
That is not eternal: and eternally I endure.
Abandon all hope, you that enter here.

The Divine Comedy
by Dante Alighieri
Inferno: canto 3, v.1-9

Dante's Divine Comedy is called a comedy not because it's humorous; but because it has a happy ending— at least for Dante anyway. The souls he and Virgil pass along the way through the Inferno portion of Dante's odyssey will never, nor anon, have a happy ending; hence the sign above the entrance to the netherworld for those who enter to abandon all hope. Hell then, in Dante's opinion, is a place of despair; which can be defined as zero anticipation of either survival or rescue; for example :

†. Acts 27:17-20 . . We took such a violent battering from the storm that the next day they began to throw the cargo overboard. On the third day, they threw the ship's tackle overboard with their own hands. When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days and the storm continued raging, we finally gave up all hope of being saved.

One day you will know what has been done through you on this day.
Well; that would certainly make up for the number of times that Christians have derided me elsewhere as a Hell Boy for running a thread on their forum whose primary purpose is to tally hades' daily body count. But as one believer pointed out, the Lord's crucifixion "saves" from people from something. Leave out a description of that "something" and people likely as not wouldn't be very motivated to consider looking to the Lord for a rescue.

It probably wasn't very difficult for Moses to convince Yhvh's people to look to that serpentary effigy at Num 21:4-9 for a cure when they were bitten by vipers because people were dying left and right where you could see them. But since there are no tour buses to Hell, it's difficult to convince people that anybody is actually down there. It seems to me it would sure help validate the Gospel if the Lord would open Hell to public access; at least for grown-ups. Personally I would rate the netherworld NC-17 which prohibits viewing by anybody under the age of 17 even if accompanied by an adult.

FAQ : Is there a worse hell than the current hell?

Answer : Yes. Today's hell is a place called hades, which is only a temporary detainment area where the spirits of doomed people are warehoused until their day in court; from whence they will be transferred in both body and spirit to a reservoir of liquefied flame.

FAQ : What happens to hades after that? Will it be demolished like a sub-standard apartment building?

Answer : Hades is slated to be entombed in the same reservoir of liquefied flame to which its current occupants will be transferred.

†. Rev 20:11-15 . . Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.

. . .The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and death and hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then death and hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

FAQ : How can death be thrown? Is the death of Rev 20:14 a solid object of some kind?

Answer : Death isn't a solid object like a baseball or a potato. It's a state; for example; steam is the vaporous state of water while the water in lakes and rivers is the liquid state of water. Like the states of water, death also exists in two states

One state is soul death.

†. John 5:24 . . I assure you, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life.

†. Eph 2:1-2 . . And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins

The other state is physical death.

†. John 11:11-15 . . Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up. Then his disciples said : Master; if he sleeps he will get well. However, Jesus spoke of his death, but they thought that He was speaking about taking rest in sleep. Then Jesus said to them plainly : Lazarus is dead.

In other words; both states of human death— the dead in body and the dead in soul —are slated to be quarantined in one central location; viz : all human death will be restricted to that reservoir because there will be no death in the new world.

†. Rev 21:1 . . And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea . . . and there shall be no more death.
