Bible Study Help, please! So confused…

LOL
You're a young spring chicken!

OK
Let's say you're not going to get all the answers now.
What do you do now?
Abandon a God you know exists because you don't know everything about Him?
Learn to dislike Him as some do?
What is the alternative?

This is one of my favorite bible verses:
John 6:67-68 (after some of the disciples had left Jesus)
67So Jesus said to the twelve, “You do not want to go away also, do you?”
68Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life."
I haven’t felt like a young spring chicken since May of 2003…

You’re right! I’m not going to get answers that I like or want but I really do enjoy the searching and seeking. I enjoy thinking and discussing with people like you.

No, there’s no abandoning, only more questions!

If it’s perfect, why put the trees that will bring sin into the world in the garden? It seems like a trap he knew they would fall into.
hi Adelaide, Our perfect father in heaven would never trap anyone, it is the serpent symbolizing Satan that with his mixture of half truths and lies corrupted Adam and Eve. Satan is very active today more so now than ever in using people ( false preachers ) to confuse and misguide the believers. It is why we must question everything and not take things for granted. Question everything.

Blessings.

Well, it seems to me it’d just be exactly what he created to begin with. It was paradise, right? Utopia? That’s not forced- at least it wouldn’t be as his creation ever knew it. That’s just blissful ignorance. And if he’s love incarnate, what’s not to love about a gorgeous garden filled with amazing animals, eternal life, a mate made from your own rib, and a god you can walk and talk with?
Paradise or the Kingdom of GOD will come soon. Amongst other things Jesus, the SON OF GOD came to us to announce and invite us to the kingdom of GOD , it was Jesus's main message!

Blessings!

I didn't mean to imply that. When I cited King David saying,

Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, Psa.51:4
Well, he knew he has certainly sinned against man on occasion. There are sins that are against God alone, but since Jesus requires us to ask forgiveness of man, there are sins against man as well. It is best to quote those as no one has a problem thinking they sinned against God. The pride remains fully in tact. It is harder to admit we sinned against man.
I didn't mean to imply that sin is only against God, but that sin is always against God. I believe David (and the rest of the scriptures agree that all sin is against God, but not only against him.
My basic reasoning for my belief, is that God created all things and since everything is his property, any misuse of it is wronging him.
He is usually more concerned with us sinning against man.
I wasn't passing judgement on you. I was trying to understand why you seemed to be objecting to my position. I'm beginning to see that when I post something, I often leave out details that would clarify my point better.
You were indeed passing judgment on me. You can say that YOU did not clarify something well. But if you tell me that I am lacking, then you are passing judgement. Stick to your part and you are good.
I agree completely with you on this. I remember thinking of myself as a Christian because I attended church. I made an alter call. I got baptized. I ate the cracker and sipped the grape juice.....but I didn't know him very well.

Sorry for all the bolding. I tried to edit it out, but don't how. 😊
Me too. I just take the bolding as it comes. Does not bother me if you do as well. :)

Amen, if we do not ask questions then how will we learn that of what we do not understand yet. I use to question everything and still question certain things. Our learning could never be exhausted when it comes to the teachings in the Bible.

Genesis Ch.1
15 The LORD God put the man in the Garden of Eden to take care of it and to look after it. 16 But the LORD told him, “You may eat fruit from any tree in the garden, 17 except the one that has the power to let you know the difference between right and wrong. If you eat any fruit from that tree, you will die before the day is over!”

Greetings, Adelaide.

It's actually Chapter 2, and the version you're quoting is loose; not an actual translation but a paraphrase.

Genesis 2:15-17 reads:

15 Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

The actual wording is, "the tree of the knowledge of good and evil," not "the one that has the power to let you know the difference between right and wrong." Adam knew right and wrong. He was informed of right and wrong when God told him not to eat of the tree. The "knowledge" God did not want Adam experiencing was in intimately knowing the enemy by partaking of sin.

Always good to ask questions. Even better to find answers : )

God bless,
Hidden In Him

God does not have to earn our trust.

Yes He does. We can't ever recall meeting Him and most people says that God is angry and abuses many people. That just isn't so but it still leaves people not trusting God.

God proving that we can trust Him is very easy for Him. One or two blessings and you'll be jumping up and down yelling I trust you Jesus, I trust you Jesus, I Trust You Jesus! :yes

Think of it as building a Resume of Trust between you and the Lord. He will solidly demonstrate to you that He can be trusted in whichever situation. He Always confirms it for you,

The hard part is getting the Lord to trust us. I used to be pretty free with my promises to the Lord, but not so much anymore. I wind up breaking my word...I think it might be impossible for a human to be 100% trustworthy until after we are redeemed and perfected.

Mean time, we repent for it, and pray more seriously next time. :blackeye

Morrison understands man but doesn’t know God. His thinking of how God experiences time is his human reasoning sans divine input pure. In short, he just made it all up without consulting God.
If you don't mind Dorothy Mae would you please start a new post with what God with his divine input has told you about how He experiences time, since Mr. Morrison has so badly missed the mark .

Tag me to the new post if you don't mind :) .

I just couldn't understand why you seemed to keep insisting that Gods' people destroyed Jerusalem and also how you thought I believed sin could only be committed against God.

Fair enough request, but I didn’t say I know how God experiences time or many things. I’ll not fall into the error Morrison made by saying we shouldn’t bother with that and then go on to explain it disregarding his his own advise. IOW, I don’t know and I respect and love God too much to tell others what are essentially untruths based on ignorance.

I don’t believe that’s true… history, and quite frankly, learning, shows that only learning arrives at that truth. Where you have to apply faith is when there is no more understanding, so there’s nothing else to rely on.
History shows that people seem to learn and then make the same mistakes so they learned but never arrived at truth. It’s also called selective learning or forgetting.

for_his_glory, I’m very surprise you liked a post where the poster out and out says she didn’t believe scripture. She denied that scripture told the truth and you liked it. I assume you didn’t know it was scripture which is also embarrassing for someone who claims to be a teacher of scripture.

You’ve chastised me for not quoting scripture. I actually do but I weave it into my text naturally without blinking lights and “heads up..don’t disagree, it’s Bible.” I do this so I can find who knows scripture from living it and not merely demonstrates that they can cut and paste. These believers I seek. Truthfully, I long to find them.
