Losing Salvation after getting saved?

Ever grow tomatoes?
Lol, stop right there. This is so predictable it's funny. :lol

You can start them from seed or a plant. By starting from seed you better start early in a green house and take extra care of them until they can be planted outside. If you start with a plant, however, somebody else has done the work of establishing a root system for you.
Sound familiar?
No. Not even remotely. :lol

It took and continues to take The Root for one to be saved.
Tell it to gr8grace3, not me, friend.

For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end.
Hebrews 3:14

Unfortunately for your theory, the verse says PARTAKERS OF CHRIST, and not EARTHLY PROMISES!

JLB

Now you're just ignoring the storyline of Hebrews.

Oh there is salvation in it friend. There is just no loss of salvation in it.
The seed that produced the growth has to remain for there to be eternal life:

24 As for you, let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.
2
5 This is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life.
(1 John 2:24-25 NASB)

No abiding - no eternal life.

The actual work of salvation is Grace and Christ. We obtain it from a one shot decision for Christ. Acts 16:31

What gets lost in this is that it is the Spirit that makes our weak faith(Spiritually dead faith) effectual.

What happened to faith is this equation?

The scripture says -

8 But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:8-10

Jesus provision of Grace is for all men, but only those who believe, and show they believe by confessing with their mouth Jesus is Lord.

Believing has action to it.

Repent, means turn away.

You turn away from the kingdom of darkness, and you turn toward the kingdom of God, and you confess Jesus as your Lord.

If you serve Jesus for a while, then go back to serving your old Lord, Satan, then you have falling away, and only believed for a while, for when Temptation came, you fell away.

Get HOT for him Brother.

Edward, you have always been reasonable and from what I have seen, you seek the truth and are willing to discuss Scriptures. So give me this please.

“Whosoever believes in me will not perish, but have everlasting life.” Jn 3:15

“Truly I say unto you, he that believes on me, has everlasting life.” Jn 6:47

Where is the "maybe not perish" or "might not perish" or "May have eternal life" or "Might have eternal life" in these dogmatic statements?

The same work of believing that caused you to be saved, is the same work of continuing to believe that will continue to save you.

Now you're just ignoring the storyline of Hebrews.

You are ignoring what the scripture plainly says -

For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end.
Hebrews 3:14

Unfortunately for your theory, the verse says PARTAKERS OF CHRIST, and not EARTHLY PROMISES!

Partaker of Christ!

Oh, well of course not. Planting the seed is called salvation. Unplanting the seed can't possibly be called losing salvation.

No Abiding- no fellowship or social relationship with the Son or the Father in this life. Continue in Bible doctrine and we will have fellowship with them.

Don't abide in doctrine and one will not live in the promise. the PROMISE of eternal life will begin to waver in a believer that does not abide in doctrine. One will start to believe that it might not be a Promise.

I think that the parable of the sower fits here......."Other seed fell among the thorns; and the thorns grew up with it and choked it out. Luke 8:7 NASB

They get choked by human view point and lose their divine view point. And will soon think that Gods Promise just might not be a Promise.

Couldn't be further from the truth.

39 You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. 40 But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life. John 5:39-40

Endless study in bible doctrine leads you to the trap of ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come . 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded , lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away . 6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7 Ever learning , and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. 2 Timothy 3:1-8

One more thing here. If Hebrews is not about earthly promises then why is Abraham going to the promised land to receive his inheritance.

Heb 11:8-10 By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. 9By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. 10For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.

Question: "What is replacement theology / supersessionism?"

Answer: Replacement theology (also known as supersessionism) essentially teaches that the church has replaced Israel in God’s plan. Adherents of replacement theology believe the Jews are no longer God’s chosen people, and God does not have specific future plans for the nation of Israel. All the different views of the relationship between the church and Israel can be divided into two camps: either the church is a continuation of Israel (replacement/covenant theology), or the church is completely different and distinct from Israel (dispensationalism/premillennialism).

Replacement theology teaches that the church is the replacement for Israel and that the many promises made to Israel in the Bible are fulfilled in the Christian church, not in Israel. So, the prophecies in Scripture concerning the blessing and restoration of Israel to the Promised Land are “spiritualized” or “allegorized” into promises of God's blessing for the church. Major problems exist with this view, such as the continuing existence of the Jewish people throughout the centuries and especially with the revival of the modern state of Israel. If Israel has been condemned by God, and there is no future for the Jewish nation, how do we explain the supernatural survival of the Jewish people over the past 2000 years despite the many attempts to destroy them? How do we explain why and how Israel reappeared as a nation in the 20th century after not existing for 1900 years?

The view that Israel and the church are different is clearly taught in the New Testament. Biblically speaking, the church is completely different and distinct from Israel, and the two are never to be confused or used interchangeably. We are taught from Scripture that the church is an entirely new creation that came into being on the day of Pentecost and will continue until it is taken to heaven at the rapture (Ephesians 1:9-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17). The church has no relationship to the curses and blessings for Israel. The covenants, promises, and warnings are valid only for Israel. Israel has been temporarily set aside in God's program during these past 2000 years of dispersion.

After the rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18), God will restore Israel as the primary focus of His plan. The first event at this time is the tribulation (Revelation chapters 6-19). The world will be judged for rejecting Christ, while Israel is prepared through the trials of the great tribulation for the second coming of the Messiah. Then, when Christ does return to the earth, at the end of the tribulation, Israel will be ready to receive Him. The remnant of Israel which survives the tribulation will be saved, and the Lord will establish His kingdom on this earth with Jerusalem as its capital. With Christ reigning as King, Israel will be the leading nation, and representatives from all nations will come to Jerusalem to honor and worship the King—Jesus Christ. The church will return with Christ and will reign with Him for a literal thousand years (Revelation 20:1-5).

Both the Old Testament and the New Testament support a premillennial/dispensational understanding of God's plan for Israel. Even so, the strongest support for premillennialism is found in the clear teaching of Revelation 20:1-7, where it says six times that Christ's kingdom will last 1000 years. After the tribulation the Lord will return and establish His kingdom with the nation of Israel, Christ will reign over the whole earth, and Israel will be the leader of the nations. The church will reign with Him for a literal thousand years. The church has not replaced Israel in God's plan. While God may be focusing His attention primarily on the church in this dispensation of grace, God has not forgotten Israel and will one day restore Israel to His intended role as the nation He has chosen (Romans 11).

What does "partaker of Christ" mean to you?

JLB

You honestly believe that Paul is talking about believers who are studying everyday are the ones depicted in these verses?

Paul is talking about those who ever learn, yet never experience the truth of what they are learning.

Learning and learning and learning...

Hearer's and not doer's of the word.

They talk the talk, but don't walk the walk.

The can preach a good sermon, yet in the own life they hold the truth in unrighteousness.

JLB

Paul says partakers of Christ...

We BECOME a partaker of Christ, if ...

What we BECOME is the result of holding steadfast to the end.

We have the right to BECOME sons of God... John 1:12
I was under the impression you were saved and received of God already, even if you don't eat certain things. :) Do you somehow think the following scripture is addressing someone already in heaven?

1 Jn 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

No Abiding- no fellowship or social relationship with the Son or the Father in this life. Continue in Bible doctrine and we will have fellowship with them.

They get choked by human view point and lose their divine view point. And will soon think that Gods Promise just might not be a Promise.

Unfortunately for your doctrine, Jesus explains what these thorns signify, -

Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity.

Not at all what your interpretation says... And will soon think that Gods Promise just might not be a Promise.

Nice Try!

What does "partaker of Christ" mean to you?

JLB

It means what it means JLB. If they did not persevere they were not going to obtain the land promised to them.
You don't understand what Hebrews is talking about because you refuse to acknowledge it.

There's the answer right in the verse you quoted -

2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

We are saved, which means we are children of God.

We will continue to be children of God, if we continue stedfast until the end, whereby we will hear these words -

Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: Matthew 25:34

Until you yourself hear these words from Jesus, as you stand before Him on that Day, then you are in the process of Hoping for the reality of Salvation to be literally manifested in your life.

If you still have faith for salvation, the you have the substance of what you are hoping for, and the evidence of what is not seen.

I hope you can see the difference.

I will explain further, with more scriptures if you don't.

Thanks JLB

How do you get obtain the promise land out of phrase "partaker of Christ".

12 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God;
13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called "Today," lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
14 For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end,

Sorry brother, you missed it.

This has everything to do with salvation.

JLB
I agree with you JLB, it is human view point and divine view point becomes blurred and even blinded by human view point.

Human view point and being choked with it, will lead to many false beliefs. One of those false beliefs will be that it wasn't a promise to believers that He WILL give us eternal life. It turns into He,"Might" give us eternal life.

for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. Romans 11:29 NASB.....Human view point will eventually choke us into thinking that they may not be irrevocable or salvation may not be a gift.
