IMHO
It is very difficult for man to apprehend God. Meaning that mankind tries to comprehend God...and we are truly incapable.
The Earth is rather large...we sit in our chairs inside of a larger house, in a neighborhood, in a city, inside of a country, inside of a continent surrounded by oceans, on a ball floating in circles in space around a Sun that is so large it's like a tiny ball bearing next to an oversized beach ball...and we believe that we can back away from it all enough to look upon it and comprehend it.
This isn't possible with God. We can never back up enough to view the entirety of God.
(God is infinite)
I agree fully.
We're so small. If only we could see the earth from space. They say that those that have been up in space come back different persons , maybe practically, maybe spiritually, but different.
I'm on another thread stating that we only know about God what He WANTS us to know or what He believes we NEED to know.
Can an ant every understand a human totally?
Only what they can see...only what they can experience...only what we would
teach them if we cared to.
We can know God......
but not fully.
plenty of scripture for this.
Now,
Again I believe that this infinite God wanted to convey very particular truths about us that He felt we needed to know.
God is so big how can He be concerned with me?
Many are deists...but then why would God have become man?
The reason is because He cares for us.
He made Himself into an ant so we could understand Him better....
but still not fully.
Jesus spoke to this.
John 3:12
Well, the use of the word "Day" tells us.
God carefully and specifically focused on each and every characteristic this universe was going to have before reaching the culmination of his creation which was mankind. We are the object of the exercise.
Amen!
God prepared this earth home for us.
I used to tell this to my "kids".
He made everything for us and this is why God is visible in creation...
Romans 1:19-20 one of my favorite verses.
A very difficult concept for us to understand is that God created Time itself. Where it is not specifically and specially called out...it somewhat is by the name of the Book and first word in the scriptures.
Genesis is the Latin word for "in the beginning".
Meaning that there wouldn't be a beginning without God. God made the beginning, God has already created the end. He can put the space in the middle of the two times (beginning and End) between the toes on his feet...and have room left over for more.
God is outside of time (as well as inside) and is not controlled by such the way we are.
But we know that we are important to God by the use of the word "Day"... because God wanted us to know that this creation of his isn't going to completely fall apart...He built it well...He focused on each and every stage in the construction of the universe. It isn't like a house of cards He built while bored one day.
And because of his omnipotence and omniscience it didn't take him very long to do each part... like the decades spent by the Pharaohs on their tombs and castles.
But He still spent a period of time (a day) focused on each and every stage in the universe's construction.
I'm not gonna try and put God in a box and limit Him to 24 hours. I'm just not cheeky enough to do so. Other's mileage may vary.
Right. Let's just try to imagine what NOTHING is.
Is it a white space?
No....that is something.
Try to imagine what NO TIME is.
Is it time standing still?
No....that is time.
I like what you said about taking care for the correct construction of earth.
Each part was good.
Each part was a stage....
At that time, man knew days. He didn't know about billions of years...
So I agree that God cannot be put into a box....
We tend to do that at times,,,,but we really should try not to.
God is too big for any sized box we may have down here on earth.
