The destruction of the temple in 70AD, how do futurists deal with this?

Yes of course I want to see all nations turn to Christ, but the Jews believe in one God, as is right and proper, while we Christians make Jesus look like a third bit player among a trinity of gods and not Yahweh himself made visible as promised in Old Testament prophesy.
I’m not sure that Christians make Jesus look like that but maybe some do. It’s difficult to speak with confidence about everyone.
You see according to the trinity diagram, Jesus is NOT the Father, so that eliminates Jesus from their thinking.
Except Jesus said he was “I am” which they, some but not all, didn’t accept. They crucified him because he “made himself equal with God.” That was blasphemy for some.
Dog walk time and then I have a hospital appointment. Back later.
Hope you enjoyed it and hope all is well.

Not to my Christian belief not to the belief of any other Christian I know.
We believe the Word of God which States that Jesus has no beginning, and that only God himself can have no beginning.
Therefore Jesus having no beginning can be nothing else but God.
This fact is not at all complicated for the Christian.

How does this fit into what Cooper said?

John 2:12 through John 2:22

The temple Jesus was; was destroyed and the Godhead raised him up. (The Father and I are one).
In Matthew 24 he was referring to the building and said so. It was speaking of a concrete stone building, not a metaphor.
To look at a building made with human hands is natural man thinking. Jesus was the express image of the Godhead bodily, The temple was not the ultimate reality.
No, he was speaking of the building. God was thinking of the temple made with humans hands and said so.
Abraham understood all about Old Jerusalem. Hebrews 11:10
Abraham was not looking for a natural city, but he was looking for something God had done.
If you read about his life, he was also looking for a flesh and blood son too.
We are the temple of the Holy Spirit now. Much scripture talks of saints being killed. Those will be raised up.

We can just see our natural existence.
Or
We can see our spiritual existence too.

We are raised at the Resurrection.

Well, about the trinity diagram, and remember I have been on the forums for over twenty years, so I can speak from personal experience, and I can tell you that people of the Jewish faith have looked at the trinity diagram and said "the Father was the creator, the Holy Spirit was there in the beginning and Jesus who came later was the sacrificial lamb. We are still waiting for the second coming."

It will be too late then. This is a dreadful sate of affairs and yet when I said "the word 'not' when applied to God is inappropriate for the Almighty, a group of vocal of Trinitarian's kicked up such a fuss and got me banned from off a Christian forum, not a million miles from here. I am still fuming. Now then, we are called to be apostles, and I dread to think what the Lord will do come judgement day. Will he say "well done my good and faithful servant?" I doubt it when he comes to those who insist on proclaiming Constantine's ill advised teaching.

Jesus confirmed his authority for posterity when he said I AM, but Constantine has undermined it.

I am sorry to go on, but people have spent their lives witnessing for Jesus and they have to battle against this from fellow Christians.

People say Jesus had a beginning at Bethlehem, but you know the truth.

Yes I can see that and don’t doubt your experience. What you’ll find is believers who don’t know God or his character (which they could understand) make up stuff about his attributes (which they cannot possibly understand.) They can’t tell you what He does or why but they’ll dissect his being.

People pick and chose what suits their theology best.

Yes, this has become accepted as the idea that there is no truth arose. It’s so far that if you tell a man that he’s wrong, you are called proud. (It’s not even allowed here.) Used to be that’s how we were corrected and learned what’s right.

I'm looking for a forum that adheres to scripture.

Let me submit a scripture for consideration.

Matthew 11:12 kjv
12. And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

When we (me included) use force to take the kingdom it speaks of our nature?

The death of Jesus was by force. The kingdom belonged to Jesus by right. Jesus still owned / possessed the kingdom by the will of God. Jesus did not use force.

The plaque over his head speaks.

I'm looking for a forum that adheres to scripture.
If you find it please please let me know. All I found were deeply influenced by their own intolerant theology or deeply influenced by the cultural norms of those in power. And western nations no longer have a culture based in scripture.

Well
Either that or we learn new techniques.

The sedation of the white rhino might help.

Until the development of M-99 (a drug) the capture of a white rhino was very tricky. The old tranquilizer had to have a huge volume injected to sedate a rhino.

Ok about now. What does a white rhino have to do with all this forum discussion?
A poster angry and charging another poster needs (at times) to be slowed down. How to slow a charge/attack needs to be accepted by everyone involved.

Learning on both sides is sometimes hard to work through. I don’t think I have the answer. The administrators are working on solutions.

In case someone does not know, the temple in Jerusalem that Jesus predicted would be destroyed was in 70AD. The short version is the Jews had rebelled against Rome and their policy was that all rebellion was put down mercilessly and as swiftly as possible. So the Romans under General Titus attacked the city and inadvertently the temple furnishings caught fire and the whole thing was destroyed. The gold decorating the temple melted and ran down so that the soldiers afterwards upturned all the stones looking for the gold so that no literal stone was left upon another. Jesus said this would happen in Matthew 24 and so it happened as he predicted.

My question to the futurists (those who believe the events of Matter 24 and Revelation are to come) how you deal with this obvious fulfillment of those predictions. There is no denying that this event was fulfilled in the past.

To make matters worse for you, he told the believers that when they see Jerusalem surrounded by armies to leave the city. He used the typical Hebrew what we call exaggeration of not even going back and getting some stuff if you are out in the field to impress upon them the imperative. It was actually quite some days before the surrounding armies left (for no known reason) and the destroying army returned. The christians living then thought that Jesus' prediction about the destruction was for them and they left town and went to Jabba, I believe. No christians were living in Jerusalem at the time the temple fell. Matthew 24 predictions were for them and they knew it and saved themselves by leaving (no one whisked them away out of danger.)

So do you look for a new temple to be rebuilt so it can be destroyed? Do you take part of Matthew 24 being fulfilled but not all (which is what I do as well just different parts?) Were you not aware that this prediction of Jesus was fulfilled in that generation?
It was a type

It was a type
Types and shadows sometimes are hard to see.

The physical seems so real. The ultimate realities (I need a better phrase) are hidden from some.

The parable of the sower is the key, but it was given in private. Now we do it in public. I wonder at times if we know how to discuss types and shadows.

Jesus is the reality that casts the shadow.
Colossians 2:17 kjv
17. Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Eyes of understanding require prayers.

Matthew 24:2 "And Jesus said unto them, "See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, there shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down."

The Roman General Titus came against Jerusalem in 70 A.D., and destroyed the city. However one of the points of interest of all tours to Jerusalem is the wailing wall. This is the wall that stands as the only part of Jerusalem that was left of old Jerusalem, at it's destruction.

Jesus prophecy in verse two tells us that "there shall not one stone upon another," and that condition has not happened yet. All of the stones of the temple will be turned to dust, at that end of this earth age. Zechariah 14 gives us a profile of how Jerusalem will be, and the events that shall transpire at that time. When Satan has taken his seat in Jerusalem, fulfilling the role of the Antichrist.

Zechariah 14:4 "And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south."

This will happen on "the day of the Lord". God will shake the earth and send fire and brimstone upon it. The earthquakes will flatten the cities to where not one stone will stand upon another. Those two great mountains will shake, and the mount of Olives will split. All prophecies concerning Christ return include Mount Zion, and the Mount of Olives will be fulfilled. This is where Christ's feet will touch the earth, when He returns.

If the Jews want to build another Temple God is not going to honor it. This is money that should help the needy in Israel. I don't need anyone to agree or disagree with this as I am just putting it out there and will not debate it.

Ezra 6:14-15 the Jews did not build the second Temple according to the vision Ezekiel received, Ezekiel 40-48. Instead, God commanded his prophets Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi not to build the Temple according to Ezekiel's vision because it was intended to be an everlasting edifice connected with everlasting redemption, something the Israelites were not ready to receive after their exile from Babylon.

When the Jewish people emerged from exile at theù decree of Babylon's King Cyrus their repentance was only partial and many of the Jews remained under foreign rule. The second Temple was built under Ezra’s leadership and Israel continued practicing Judaism and their Temple was desecrated as part of an effort to impose Greek-oriented culture and customs on the entire population. Roman rule refurbished the temple as Herod, Romans vassal king, rules the land of Israel. In 70 A.D. the Temple is once again destroyed. The Temple Mount was taken over in 691 A.D. as the Arab nation built the Dome of the Rock and there has not been any other Temple built since that time on the original Temple Mount.

The cornerstone for the new Temple was brought to Jerusalem on May 21, 2009 and still remains on the street. "Jerusalem Day" in 1967 was to celebrate the liberation of the Temple Mount, but there is a problem there as the Dome of the Rock sits on the Temple Mount. Baruch Ben-Yosel , chairman of the Movement to Restore the Temple, made it clear that the Temple had to be built in the exact spot where the Dome of the Rock sits.

There will never be a third Temple built by hands, Acts 7:48; Acts 17:24. When the veil of the Temple was torn from top to bottom after Jesus gave up the ghost, Matthew 27:50, 51, this symbolized that the sacrifice of Jesus and the shedding of his blood was now made for the atonement of sin and that all, Jew and Gentile, can come before Him as He is the only way to the Father, John 14:6.

There is no more veil for the Priest to enter into the Holy of Holies once a year to make atonement for Israel's sin, nor is there any more animal sacrifices as we are no longer under the Old Covenant nor the preaching of the law, but are under a new and better covenant of Gods grace through Christ Jesus as our High Priest, Hebrews 4:14-16. Jesus prophesied of the Temple being desolate and that no one will see Him again until His time comes meaning when He returns on the last day, Matthew 24:1, 2; Luke 13:34, 35, John 6:40.

God no longer dwells in a Temple made by hands, Acts 7:48, 49, and this is why God left it desolate all these years when it was destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD, Hebews 9:11-28; 10:1-4. Now the Dome of the Rock sits on the Temple Mount and was built around 692 AD. The Muslims will never give it over to Israel, plus the Dome of the Rock is being refurbished for the son of perdition (not a Muslim man) to come and sit on his throne on the very Temple Mount of God and will cause a great falling away from truth, Isaiah 14:12-14; 2 Thessalonians 2:3-12.

Jesus fulfilled everything the temple stood for being the last sacrifical lamb taking away all the sin of the world. God no longer dwells in a temple made by hands, Acts 7:48-50; 17:22-31; Hebrews 10:7-18

Malachi 1:11 For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts.

John 4:21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

The church, (body of Christ) is the temple where God dwells by His Holy Spirit, Zechariah 6:9-15 (prophecy of coming Messiah); 1 Corinthians 3:16, 17; Ephesians 2:19-22, Galatians 3:19-29.

In 70AD the second temple was destroyed and put an end to the temple made by hands and the sacrifices made there. The Temple of God now dwells in all who are Spiritually born again and indwelled with the Holy Spirit, John 3:5-7; Romans 10:9, 10.
Great post!
:nod

I don't know much about eschatology but I had learned that the temple must be rebuilt before Jesus returns.

Seems like some on this thread don't believe so.
This would make it easier for His return, i guess.

Psalms 118:22 kjv
22. The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.

At the time of prophecy the reality exists. It must come to be.
The temple is a spiritual construct. Jesus is the cornerstone.

Revelation 21:14 kjv
14. And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

Symbolism abounds.

There are stones that have metaphysical meaning. The spiritual meaning is the greater.
