The power of The Cross

If Christ hadn't died for the whole world how is it that all the dead will be resurrected? Is Jesus talking figuratively?

John 5:28-29, Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which ALL that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the RESURRECTION OF LIFE; and they that have done evil, unto the RESURRECTION OF DAMNATION.

Now! i believe the Cross of Christ Jesus works according to scripture!
Do you have a scripture you would like to discuss? Or are you one who allows their own flesh decide things that are not revealed in scripture?

1Co 4:6

And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.
Rom 15:3

For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.
Rom 15:4

For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

2Jn 1:9

Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
2Jn 1:10

If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

We have the example of the two sinners, who where next to the Lord on His Cross. One turned to Him and was saved, the other was lost for he continued in his pride even unto death. Dont be deceived the Gospel uses simple examples to reveal simple truth.

Col 2:14

Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Col 2:15

And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Eph 2:15

Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

At the Cross, Christ who knew no sin became sin for us.
For the Law of Moses was just and holy, and it demanded
that death was the price for sin. Christ Jesus Himself paid this price for us when He allowed Himself to be crucified.
This freedom from The Law was won for all who "believe"

Act 13:38

Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:
Act 13:39

And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

Joh 9:1

And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
Joh 9:2

And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?

Joh 9:1
Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

Sickness and blindness came upon all men at the fall, the Law declared that because of sin, men where cursed with sickness.
Here The Lord would have us to know that He Himself bore or sickness and disease, and all our sin. It was all judged together on His Cross. See that it has been judged and like the brass (judged) serpent that was lifted up, behold the work of His Cross!

Num 21:9

And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

Dont ask the Lord to take away the serpents, but ask to see a fresh revelation of the work of His Cross!

He who overcomes, shall be given of the Tree of Life!

Num 21:9

You seem to have a knack of using scriptures against the truth....looking for loopholes that justify you as you already are. Your own verses condemn this practice.

We don't need a revelation of the cross...we need the power of the cross to do away with silly human reasonings and the power of the flesh that these come from. We need to let go of what we hold so dear and surrender to the will of God.

The Power of the cross does that for those God saves by Jesus Christ. You do not believe that Christ's Cross is powerful unless man lets it be, so you actually believe man is more powerful than the Cross !

It depends on if the man trusts God to kill off the right parts of us in order to make us into the very image of Christ. God's strength is made evident in our weakness. But who will surrender all to Christ?

As stated, you make The Crosses Power depend upon man, which actually makes man the more powerful. You should preach the power of man, not the Cross !

The cross, which stands for the facts and truths of the gospel, is the power to save from sin. The idea that to humble Himself as a servant, to suffer and die as a criminal, is the way to exert influence and power to overcome man and to lead him away from selfishness and sin is contrary to all feelings of human nature. While Christ reveals in His humanity a new power to men, and through humbling himself He can lead others away from sin, he also reveals to men a new and living way to happiness. The only sure way to happiness is to help others in the name of Him who became a sin offering for all of us.

God doesn't force anyone to submit to His will. I think you are confusing love with rape or something. This has nothing to do with brute force.

So Jesus came to improve men's behaviour???

You misunderstand the purpose of the cross. The cross destroys the old life in order to make room for what is already a new creation in holiness.

I think this entire thread misunderstands the purpose of the cross. Your post in #91 indicates that men should surrender to the will of God...pretty much what I said.

2Co 5:21

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Isa 53:4

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
Isa 53:5

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Isa 53:6

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
